We are in Disney World right now and have been here for 8 nights. One thing I've noticed during our stay here is that if a ride has a Fast Pass option, you should only ride it this way. Avoid Stand By at all costs. Here's why:

Not once have we jumped in line and rode the ride on Stand By in the time it says. Test Track said 40 minutes and was 1 hr 15 minutes. Tower of Terror said 20 minutes and was 35. And so on...

There are times when you don't need the fast pass option.

1). First thing in the morning after the park opens.
2). If the sign says 5 minutes it's usually walk right on. Not 100% but pretty close.

That's about it. Plan to use the Fast Pass option at most any ride that has it available and it will improve your vacation and demeanor.

One other observation: The CM's don't look at the "dates" on the Fast Passes so if you can't use yours save it for another day and use it then.

I didn't realize it until our second trip, but you don't have to be at the ride right at the time on the fast pass. We were late for our BTMR and I was paniced. When I asked the CM if we could still go, he teased me and said, NO WAY! Then smiled and waved us on through. So, now I know not to break our necks trying to get from one place to another.

I hadn't thought about using it on a different day though. I'll have to keep that in mind! Thanks

Just a word of caution on this - some have had no problem using expired fast passes but others, including me, have.

My advice is that if you truly miss your window it can't hurt to try and ride. I personally would not use this as a "touring strategy". If the ride is a must do - return during the return window and no worries.

We missed a return time at Star Tours due to a PS snaffu and were not permited to ride after our FP window. Not only that but the CM took the FP so we could not return and try again later.

This is my first hand experience - I have read other accounts of people not able to use expired fast passes as well as those who were.

Just an fyi so nobody "counts" on using an expired FP and becomes dissapointed when the CM enforces the time and date that is clearly printed on the FP.

Like I mentioned though, you can use them another day at the same time since nobody looks at the date of issue and other than that the tickets are identical. The date of issue is on the bottom and is VERY small.
