Could some one please help me to understand how to use a fast pass, and where you get these? We will be arriving in a week.
Thank you

Hello and Welcome to the DIS!!! Where the nicest DISNEY FREAKS gather...

Each park at DISNEY has some ride with Fastpass...

Fastpass is a way to not have to stand in line (what we call here the stand-by line). You get to insert your park ticket in a fastpass machine located near the entrance of certain rides. Your park map that you get at the entrance will tell you which rides have fast pass.

Once you insert your ticket in the fastpass machine, a small piece of paper (fastpass) will come out and tell you what time you can come back to ride the ride without wait. Sometimes it as short as 1/2 an hour away and sometimes as far off as several hours...

The return time is posted above the fastpass machine so you can decide either to stand in line if the time is short enough or to get a fastpass and return later.

Fastpass is free to use and lots of people don't seem to know about it so you will get dirty looks as you bypass people standing in line and you get on first.

I know this is not a very good explanation but I hope it helped.:)

Looks like you got your answer there, runningma, just wanted to welcome you to the DIS!! Enjoy!

There are two "tips" I have not seen mentioned, yet:

1) Get your second FP as soon as you can, before you use the first FP. This way the time starts to run on your next ride while you are riding the first ride.

2) Only one person in your family needs to get FPs for the entire group. This way, DD (or whoever) can collect everyone's admission tickets and run to the FP machines and get FPs for everyone. This lets the rest of the group wait in line at another attraction, take a potty break, eat lunch, shop, etc. while DD gets the FPs. It's also handy if your next attraction is across the park. Only one person has to jog across the park and back.

Runningma, I have one other comment about FP. To understand how great FP is, one has to understand the logic behind it. Many people assume it's not worth getting a FP if the return time is 2-3 hours away, but the estimated wait for the stanby line is only 50 mins. This is wrong. While you might get on that ride sooner without FP, you'll lose a lot of time for other rides. Get the FP. While waiting the two hours for the return time you can go on rides with out FP, grab lunch, anything but wait in line.

Good luck and have fun.
