Hi all,
Myself, DH, DD 7, DS 5, DS 5 (barely 5) and DMIL are going on our first visit to WDW in August. I've got all our ADRs set and am now stressing about Fast Pass+ selections. We have littles and so will only be in the parks in the am (rope drop) and leaving after lunch on most days, some days returning to AoA, sometimes I have a waterpark on the schedule but am very flexible about the afternoons as I do NOT want to deal with cranky tired, heat-exhausted kids on our first vacation in 8 years :cool1:

Please look over my plans and let me know what you think-am I wasting any fast passes or missing something that would appeal to my kids (DD loves princesses, DS & DS love Toy Story & Disney Jr). One of my twins might be scared to ride anything (sigh) but they are all VERY tall and are already over 48".

This is only one woman's opinion, but, I always recommend that families with young children save MK until after the other three parks. Your kids will find LOtS to love in each park, but MK is so geared to them that they can sometimes compare everything else to that if it is done first....do you know what I mean? I also noticed you didn't Fp Soarin....for us, it is a must do.

Soarin' is much more gentle than TTrack.

With 3 days at MK, you are able to spread out and hit the main attractions your kids want. Good strategy to leave once it heats up. You may want to return later, but it is a process with your group. After a 3-4 hour break at a pool or water park, it may be fun to return. Smart to let your kids determine what else you do.

Others to consider, but not always a FP
MK Enchanted Tales with Belle (FP), Goofy's Barnstromer (it does move quickly though), Winnie the Pooh, Philharmagic, Small World, Monsters Inc.
AK Flights of Wonder, Mickey/Minnie Photo (FP this one), Walk through the trails
EPCOT Some fun stuff in Innoventions, Mexico Tiempo Boat ride, fun bands to listen to in Canada & UK, Kidcot may be fun
DHS This looks good. Beauty & the Beast could be fun. Muppets 3D. Kids may enjoy either of the stunt shows - especially the car show for the boys.

DO NOT DO Tough to be a Bug (AK) or Stitch (MK). These 2 attractions scare kids.

Depending on your kids, I would highly suggest Splash Mountain. My DD first rode it when she was 5... we must have ridden it 10+ times that trip, she loved it. She was not a thrill seeker at the time, but it's a wonderful 8 minute ride with great scenes and it tells a great story. I would also suggest big thunder mountain... it's not a roller coaster, so no big drops, but it is fast, similar to Test Track.

It's so hard to know what will go over well and what won't. I would recommend starting small ans working up to the bigger rides... it gives kids a chance to get used to things. Either way, have an awesome trip!

I have not been myself but I have been reading a lot of negatives in regards to using FP+ for the Disney Junior Live Onstage. I believe the issue is that the reserved seats are very close to the front and it makes it difficult for young kids to see everything. I know there are pictures out there that show the view from this area. Just something to consider, I can't imagine the line for this would be too long anyways:)

Thanks everyone! I didn't know that about Disney Jr Live. & no Stitch or bug's life-just googled them... My kids would definitely flip out on either of those so thanks you just saved me from dealing with weeks of nightmares!!!

It does depend on the kids whether you do Stitch or Tough to be a bug. It sounded like your kids did not like the scary rides. I have friends with 5 year olds that love those attractions, but I also have friend with older kids that are scared to death on those attractions.

Fingers crossed for a great trip. You have done your homework and some good planning, so your family should have a blast.
