Fast pass is back…

One of the complaints of Genie+ was that if you purchased it and didn't enter the parks early you may have at times only got to use it once or twice. Now you are guaranteed at least three attractions no matter what time you decide to go to the parks and you get to replace selections as soon as you use them.

You are guaranteed three attractions, but only one Tier 1.

At least a third of the Tier 2 attractions don't even need a pass, they never have long line.

If international visitors can only make selections once they arrive in the US, it would be a major setback for all international guests and very disappointing. I hope there's a workaround or that this information turns out to be incorrect.

I'm currently in the process of becoming a DVC member as an international buyer, and this situation is making me question my decision.

If the International Guest issue is indeed correct, this is really really disappointing. We used to be able to use FP+ with no issue just like everyone else. We can make dining reservations 60 days out like everyone else, but now the new LL system has a limitations!? What an utterly stupid decision. I can only hope this will be resolved quickly and that Disney realizes their mistake. I am sure they don't want the perception that international members/guests are being treated like second class members/guests.

I dont get the poo pooing over the tiers? This is just like fp+ tiers were and people got additional tier 1 rides on day of all the time. And THAT was with having to use all THREE before booking a 4th. You can book a 4th, probably another tier 1, as soon as you use your first pass with this set up. I would guess that you can and should get multiple tier 1 rides per day if you work it.

Granted it depends on how you do the parks, if you are a rope dropper like we are, you'll have an advantage there vs someone who doesnt show up until later, but you can work that even. Say you're more a 10am park person, set your 3 up for that time frame, including 1 tier 1, soon as you do your first one select another tier 1 for later in the day, do your second, do another etc. Outside of stuff like SDD that will be gone for the whole day from pre booking probably, should get other tier 1 rides like smugglers and MMRR.

I am betting this will be close to $100 per person per day. It is guaranteeing three selections with the ability to keep replacing them as you use them.
I can't see it. That would be approaching Universal Express Pass pricing, for a product that is not even close. I'd happily pay $100+ for a UEP-like system, but this ain't that.

So even if I was to pay for this which I won’t cause again if you an early riser you can hit every major attraction in a park in 1 day even without staying in the park during middle of the day. The tiers stink for magic kingdom. It’s worse than during fast pass days. They have big thunder and jungle cruise in with top tier rises. Just another way to spread people out which is very good but regardless of price not worth it for us. Rope drop. Hit at least 5-7 rides before 12. Bail. Back in at night. I can do just as much as those using genie in the same time and we don’t rush except that initial rope drop. We grab our coffee inbetween based on park flow and something to snack on.

I just looked at magic kingdom. It’s worse that fast pass plus’s days. Waaaaay more rides in tier 1. Back in the day u can do mine train along with big thunder and jungle cruise back to back to back.

No chance.

Everything is still subject to availability. Sure you can schedule your 3 advance rides for 6pm, 7pm and 8pm, but there won't be much left to choose from as a 4th, 5th, 6th selection if you aren't redeeming your first pass until 6pm. How much value does this have if the attractions left by evening are the likes of Living with the Land, Frozen Singalong and Laugh Floor? (Back in the FP+ days, you could often add things like Buzz and POTC later in the day. But it gets a little tiresome if your only evening options are the same set of MK rides. Especially if you're paying for it.)

Nobody is paying $100 per day to reserve a ride time on the combo of Soarin, Spaceship Earth and Nemo...or Smuggler's Run, Toy Story Mania and Star Tours. I'm not sure that's even worth the current ~$25 per day. The current implementation of Genie+ delivers MUCH greater value, assuming people aren't hung up on the inability to choose exact ride times.

Well yea there wasnt a tier at MK before.

I still dont think its an issue but will see when it goes live how it works in the real world.

When Genie was announced, people mourned the loss of FP+ like it was their first born child. Now that it's back basically, it's a terrible system that will never work apparently. There's no way (IMO) it will be hard to get multiple Tier 1 rides with the rolling 3 reservations. If it is, they'll have to tweak it. They can't have their paid system only getting people Pirates and Nemo and Star Tours.

People pre-decided to hate G+ because it was a paid system replacing the free FP+. That I sort of get, and the rollout of G+ was a bit of a disaster as well, which didn't help. But outside of cost G+ is a much better system overall than than the old FP+, IMO. Maybe now that it's dead I can say that without being called a Disney shill or worse, like I have been in the past 🤣

As a DVC member, AP holder, and someone with literally hundreds of park days under my belt, It's not going to be a purchase I'll be making for every day of my annual trip. I'll wait in line for one or two "must rides", and then go and do something else, and use that money "saved" by not buying this new product to go to Universal.
We just came back from a shorter (for us) trip (4-ish park days) and although we bought G+ all of the days, I saw where it definitely wasn't worth it (I'm looking at you, Epcot), especially if we weren't going to rope drop. As DVC/AP, though we often "miss" rides on a trip, we know that we will be back, so it doesn't bother us so much. Also, most of our "must rides" are ILL anyway. On longer trips we may buy an ILL for 1 ride and so other stuff more opportunistically.

My biggest issue with the cost is adding people to it that might go on a very limited number of rides.
I hear you. We did, however, have a nice anniversary date and switched MBs with our kids so they could ride Space Mtn 2x. I like it, but spent a nice time hanging out with the hubby instead. My dad (82), did not need to go on Guardians so we used his VQ spot for a rotating set of grandkids (+ rider switch with my sister)

That is really stinky and I hope they fix it. I wonder if they looked at the # of European travelers coming for the 2 weeks for the price of 1 deal?
hey have big thunder and jungle cruise in with top tier rises.
Maybe this is my sour grapes from being shut out of Tiana's Bayou Adventure (3 days of AP VQ, no park reservations and no luck with the 1pm queue; got a great time for the DVC preview only to get 1/2way through the line and taken out because the ride broke down, and then we had to leave for the airport🎻) ... but I'm hopeful this will help spread out the riders. Until TBA gets running more reliably I think they have to have some equivalent Tier 1 they can swap out riders without there being a huge blowup or huge delays on the other rides.

The previous fastpass system was free, so the new one will be critiqued more because there’s a dollar value attached.

I think if you really worked it, you could get more out of genie+. OTOH, I love the idea of ignoring my phone for the first few hours of the morning on vacation.

If the price is as high as some are speculating though, I won’t buy it anyway.

I see people mentioning the cost of the new system. I can’t seem to find where this information is listed. Can someone let me know what the pricing is looking like?

I was fine with G+ and used it last few trips, but I still think this is going to miles better overall. Its a blend of the two and on the surface appears it should work even better for us. I like knowing before day of what rides I can hit using LL vs hoping and praying I get good return times. The ability to select your times again is going to be huge.

Does anyone know if you have to purchase the Multipass for the full length of your stay or can you you just pick and choose which days/parks?

Its a day by day purchase, you can buy up to 7 days out staying on property for up to 14 days out from the first day of your stay.

I think the issue with tiers now vs FP+ is 1. like someone mentioned above, MK never had tiers under FP+, and 2. with FP+ ALL rides were available whereas now, the very best rides are ILL and cost even more. So now, under this new system, there are basically three tiers: ILL, Tier 1, and Tier 2.

This is made slightly better by the rolling 3 ability, but on the other hand, we are limited to one use per ride per day.

After digesting everything (excluding the fact that this is paid vs free), I'm thinking this is a slight downgrade from FP+, mostly b/c as others have mentioned, the lack of multiple rides/day (although it's a definite upgrade vs G+)

I glossed over this until just now, if thats accurate it sounds like when you go to sign up for the pass you can actually view and make selections before you actually buy? Huge concession to off site there. It's 3 days out and you're going to MK and every single tier 1 is gone, no reason to buy at that point if you wanted to do a tier 1 I guess.
Definitely a major upgrade. I also saw on a Twitter Q&A (Scott Gustin, I believe) that during the checkout process your selected times will be held, so hopefully no more selecting a time then having it jump 6 hours when you get to the checkout screen, like with G+ (but with Disney IT, who knows..)
