fast pass incentive

We received this incentive when we bough into AKV at the DVC show, which was held in Rochester, N.Y. We were told we could use these passes for 3 different days for everyone in our reservation on our incentive trip. I was wondering if anyone else used theirs yet?

Mike - how long ago did you add-on? I am in the process now and didn't hear about this, we are adding on less than 100 points, 65 to be exact, and maybe we aren't eligible?
Maybe I should give my guide a ringy-dingy :)

My first BLT add-on was the first day BLT came up for sale. I got instant fast passes for that. I think my guide gave them to me since I've purchased a lot of points from her. I certainly didn't expect them.

I sorta did the same as Mike. Did my BLT purchase the 2nd day (my guide never had a chance to call me back the first day). I laughed and told him I expected my FP's when I came in Dec.

I called him when we got there in Dec and reminded him it was "part of my deal." He said, "Sure. Come on over and get'em." We were staying at the Springs anyway. Went over. Shook hands. Took the nickel tour of the BLT models (5 minutes). Said thanks. Waited 5 in the lobby while he went and got them. Thanked him again and went on our way.

Be careful what you ask for. ;)

I don't understand what the problem is with giving people a few FPs. It is not like it costs them anything. I definitely think it depends on the CM. When we purchased at the Doorway to Dreams, our CM gave us lots of gifts as we were leaving--gym bag, old 2007 ornament, travel mugs, gift cards to our local Legoland, etc. When we returned a few weeks later to sign our contract, we asked for one more travel mug for my mom (who just gave them a big check!) and the CM gave us an attitude. I had to say something like, "Are you kidding me that you are not going to give her a $5 mug?" BTW--he did finally give it to her!

Also, the 5-days of FP go along with our 5-night stay at AKV. We had our choice of that or a 3-day cruise. It had everything to do with their anniversary and actually was expiring the next day. If we would have waited a day, we would have been given developer points at SSR. This was an incentive for everyone, though, not on the whim of a CM. Definitely luck!

The freebies are decided upon by upper management and not all sales groups get them. They also have to pay for the freebies and they are only budgeted for a certain amount.

A member can buy 1000 points from a Senior Telesales Guide and not get 1 fastpass or they can buy 160 points during a cruise and get all kinds of freebies including shipboard credit and Disney Gift Cards.

ok here's our experience using them. We had them for 9 in our party.

First off the package says this:

valid for 4days after issue

exchange for 3 FP tickets with current return times

excludes: Indiana Jones, Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Lights, Motors, Action

not valid where FP machines are out of FP for the day

not valid for theme park admission

nontransferable, not for sale

may not be redeemed for cash

So multiple very very long lined attractions had the FP machines closed for the day. No way to use these for those rides.

The cards expired in 3 days not 4 and we were left holding cards that were un-usable (they are replacing those ones. :thumbsup2 )

one of the cards was never activated. (they are replacing that one too. :thumbsup2 )

so while it was great to ride Toy Story Mania a couple times, the passes weren't exactly the end all of usefulness that we had hoped. Mostly because of the parks not opening specific rides to FP.

This was at the beginning of Dec as well so it was crowded and busy.

But if all the rides had their FP machines open then I think we'd have been able to use them up in just a day or two and the early expiration wouldn't have been an issue. (well except for the non-activated one! ;) )

ETA~ they came with our AKV add on back in August, it was part of a promo for Doorway to Dreams.

We received them when we signed all of our paperwork and paid our deposit. The bad thing was we did this the day before we left and didnt' get to go to the parks so ours expired and we never got to use them. :sad2:

We received them as well just for taking the tour.... We were staying at VWL in November, and the gentleman booking the tours at the DVC information desk mentioned that you receive them just for speaking to a DVC guide...

At the time we were clueless about DVC.... and since it was NJ week the lines were long.... so that was the initial draw for us....... little did DH know at the time that the desire for FP's would wind up costing us 320 points !! :lmao:

So imo it's a good thing they have these offers occasionally, because honestly who really wants to give up any of their DW time... people are usually on a schedule trying to "see it all" ........ For me without that FP offer they would have probably been one DVC member less... not for any reason other then I never had heard of it, and wouldn't have wanted to give up our "scheduled" itinerary.... to hear a sales pitch...

& look at me now !! :scared1: :woohoo:

We got our (16) when we did our SSR Tour. DW and DD's and I each got a card that looked like a blank debit card, each card had 4 FP's on it that was good for the length of our stay.
We have actually received these FP on 2 seperate stays from 2 seperate tours we did, 1 for SSR and 1 for AKL:thumbsup2

I guess I'm confused. Why would you want fast passes over the gift card? You can get fast passes for free with your ticket, so why would you not take the money?:confused3

The fast passes are instant, no return time.

I guess I just don't get it. I don't mind coming back in a little bit, or even later that evening (since you don't really have to use it in that 1 hour span), and I would rather have the spending money. The fast passes are free to anyone who wants one with their ticket. We usually will collect a bunch of fastpasses (going on rides, in between collecting fastpasses, that don't require a fastpass), and then fastpass the night away! Then, I have the money to spend on a souvenier that I would not normally want to spend my money on, or something a little more pricey that I really want! I understand you get some free with adding on to some DVC, but the birthday ones, I just don't get why anyone would chose that option over the "birthday fun pass" (gift card). That fastpass option on the birthday one is good for 6 people on 4 rides. We can do that with our APs or anyone can do it with their ticket.

Its all a matter of opinion, but general opinion is that its not as good as everyone assumed it would be with the limitations.

HOWEVER, that are INSTANT fastpasses that you can get even if the fastpasses are out for that attraction...so, if you have your heart set on riding TSM or Soarin', and can't get there before the afternoon, and don't want to wait 90+ minutes potentially, then it MIGHT be worth it to someone.

The instant fast passes can only be used if the FP machines are open.

TRUE...but they designate one FP kiosk to remain open after all the timed FPs are distributed which can only be used by BDay FP cards. So technically the FP machine remains open, but no one else can get timed FPs from it.

So, even if TSM is out of FPs by 2pm, a BDay FP card holder can still go up to the designated kiosk and get an instant FP at 7pm.

What I haven't heard is if this "courtesy" has been extended to DVC compensation FPs given out for doing the tours, etc. They were previously only able to get a FP if the kiosks were open, since they would all close when FPs ran out.

We didn't have the option of a gift card over a FP. We got FPs and a Visa gift card for $1,000 for purchasing AKV. In my opinion, unless the gift card is for a huge amount of money, my FPs will make my touring a whole lot easier. I won't have to be part of the TSM chaos, the Soarin' stampede, or the dash to SM. I will ride some other attractions and be able to secure my FPs for those premium rides, along with getting regular FPs along the way. Remember, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

P.S. I don't think I would take the b-day FPs they are currently advertising for 2009. I think there are way too many limitations and I would definitely take the money.

is the 'special' FP machine blocked off or something? Because if the system is out of FPs then even if you put your day ticket in there it won't give you a FP so no reason to block it off or anything. And the DVC FPs would then work for that.

I haven't seen it myself, but I've been told there is a sign on the machine saying it is only for use with BDay FP cards. That's about it. I know someone tried using their park pass and it didn't work.

well I'll give it a whirl when I'm there next week and see what happens. ;)

We also got the FP back in May 08 for going to the modified short presentation at MK.
