So, Here I am the first time ever doing a 30 days out FP reservation.

Naturally, Slinky is all booked up, but its not high propriety for me anyway as O am mainly going for SWGE. But I couldn't help but notice how weird HS tiering system is with the addition of the new rides and shows.

I am not sure what the answer is , but I think they need to tweak the FP system in HS.....If they add MFSR to the FP, they will then have essentially at least 5 big attractions for FP. The could then change the tier to include perhaps 2 attractions to the 1st tier?

What says the Disboard community?

Tier One
TOT
RR
TSM
MFSR

Tier 2
M3D
ST
A.S.s (that may get Censored) LOL
Stage shows, sing along etc.

I absolutely agree! Way too many tier 1 but I also think that for Epcot, especially once Ratatouille gets up and running.

For HS i think TOT and RNRC need to be tier 2 or TSM

Yes. I have B&B booked as a throwaway FP for 4 days. And ST, but we'll probably want to ride it at least 2 of those days. Coming from DLR, this tiered FP+ madness drives me nuts. :crazy2:

It's kind of obnoxious, but I get why they are doing it. As you said, as an offsite guest, there is no Slinky available. If RNR and TOT were tier 2 rides, those would also not be available for you.
Disney wins with this system because if you want to ride all the big rides with minimal waits, you have to visit over 2-3 days vs. 1, and they can entice more people to come to the park because they are assured a short line for at least one big ride.

I like it. It makes it way easier to get good FPs as 4th+ later in the day.
In November I was able to get all 3 Toy Story rides right in a row in the early afternoon, followed by TOT and RnR right after.
I agree with this. Same day FP's at HS are quite easy with the current setup. We burn two tier 2 FP's early and then have fun making many tier 1 FP's.

I'm starting initial analysis and planning for our trip in August. With the Tier 1, it's between Toy Story and Slinky Dog and Alien Saucers (is this really tier 1?) as our kids aren't interested in Tower of Terror and Rock N roller coaster...but only thing of interest in Tier 2 is Star Tours. SO between the other Tier 1 that we can't book and the two Star Wars rides, it makes it very difficult to plan the day. Feel like we'll be spending tons of time in long lines.

And if they add FP for the two Star Wars rides (or one or two) and the new Mickey Railway that is coming, those of course will be Tier 1, so then what.....

If there's truth to the paid fastpass rumors, then this fits so beautifully into their masterplan. Make you pay on site for the one tier 1 fastpass, and then charge you an extra $50 per person, per day (I'm just making that number up) to reserve another 2. It sounds like that would work out well in your case.

That would really suck. Really hope they don't start charging for FP as Disney is really pricey as it is.

Agreed. I can just see how this fits so perfectly into a nefarious plan. And they could market it as "helping" you. I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen too much of Disney to not believe it.

We'll see what they do with the paid fastpasses, I hope they don't do it. I think the tiers just ensure that people come back to the park over more than one day. We could probably do HS in one day but the tier system forces us to come back a second day or wait in huge lines.

I would just untier DHS altogether once MMRR and the SWGE rides are on the system. It’ll be a park with 9 rides, 5 of which are new to most guests and 8 of which opened as the park’s headliner. There’s a lot of opportunity for people to make their own day, just like at MK.

I guess I am more likely to go back to my resort if I can not get on rides. Which for my family means spending less money. If I am in the park, we are having a good time and spending more money (food, souvenirs, etc.). So, I am not sure that wanting me to come back another day to ride 2-3 rides would work.

Frankly, if you're going back to a Disney resort they already got your money. Anything else would be gravy. For me, I'd rather be in a line for a ride.

Side note, you can use "AS2" for the alien ride (as in A-S-squared)

We had really good luck rope dropping then high tailing it to a ride.... that was better then any fast pass. You can do that for any must ride you did not get.

I really like the system at universal, stay in there top tier lowes hotels ( or pay $100 ) and get the express pass. It was so much better than the fast pass system.

Paid FP ends my park experience..

I will not be treated like a peasant because I am not super rich....These trips are way over priced as is for what you actually get at the hotels.....

That is exactly what we are to them -peasants. I waited in a “70 minute” line for Pirates that turned out to be 2 hours. Near the end I watched super rich families skate in the back door with a Disney tour guide to just walk on rides. Their rationale for the wait was that “too many fast passes were distributed”. What a joke. This recent trip was not magical at all. We won’t be going back.

For us, we only have one day at HS as we have just 3 days all together so no choice but to stand in line for them (sneaking in the park as part of a pre-cruise trip). So no choice.

So if we are coming at rope drop to get a Boarding Group....which ride should we go to first? Assume we get a FP+ for Toy Story.....Smuggler's Run, Slinky Dog Dash, or Alien Swirling Saucers?
I'm guessing that is the order to try as stand by, but let me know if I'm wrong.

Slinky if you’re near the front of the crowd, if you’re not, go to Sunset Blvd. SDD has longer lines 5 minutes after opening than an hour after opening because so many people try to rope drop it.

Do Smugglers as late in the day as you can, it’s busiest in the morning.

You shouldn’t have to stand in line for anything except Smugglers Run and SDD. You should have no trouble finding day of FPs for TOT, RNR, and Alien Saucers.
