Farrells is making a comeback!!

Clearly, I'm the only cranky, meanie Farrel's hater here. I like ice cream, honest! I just got annoyed with the atmosphere.

Note to self: When partying with Dis-ers and ice cream, bring bass drum, bell, siren, and air horn. I don't think Farrel's had air horns, but these folks love a racket;)
:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Nope, we didn't have air horns, except for when this one Assistant Manager was on duty. We never knew what would happen those nights.

You know, that was my first job. Probably is what cemented my feeling that I want to have fun while I'm working hard!!

my farrells was at southcenter mall in tukwila, washington. gosh, i loved that place, though we didn't get to go very often.

my 8th grade teacher took the top 3 spellers in her sign language spelling bee. i was one of the lucky three, but did not even attempt the pig trough. skinny little danny did, though, and earned his ribbon! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

We were just out with another couple last week talking about how sad it is that today's kids don't have Farrell's. I grew up within walking distance of one. We would save up our allowances for Hot Fudge Nutty Nuttys and a trip to the candy store. Good times. :goodvibes

My "home" Farrell's was at Stonewood Center, in Downey, CA. In my Sr. year of high school band, our band went to Hawaii. It was a great trip, and one of the best memories is 150 bandmembers at the Farrell's in the International Marketplace in Hawaii.

I tried to explain Farrells to my DD. She didn't get it. I told her about the drums and whistles when they brought out the big treats, she thought I was weird. I'm glad they are bringing them back.

Oh wow - I haven't heard of them in probably 30 years. They had one when we lived in Hawaii and it was THE place for birthday parties. I had such a collection of the little plastic animals from all of the parties I attended there. We moved to Tennessee from there and they didn't have Farrells, so I had totally forgotten about them. I still remember the song from the commercial:

Farrells is the place
Where food and fun begin
Good times comin' at 'cha
When you come on in!

It'd be fun to take my kids to one!

I used to work for Farrell's corporate office in Honolulu. I'm so happy to see Farrell's coming back - I hope they're all over the place again, soon.

That is so cool. I remember going to Farrell's as a kid. When my sister was a teenager, some of her friends from school had a Zoo eating contest. There were different contestants almost like boxers with their own crews to help them keep eating.

We always had a "birthday" whenever we went with my aunt. It didn't matter if it wasn't our birthday, someone would get elected to be the "birthday" person. One of our family ate a Pig's trough once.

My brother had an actual birthday there once and we got the Zoo. I wish they would get one out here in Florida.

I hadn't thought of this place in years! My cousin and I loved this place when we were kids, our mom's would go shopping and we loved to go so we could have lunch at Farrell's! Ahhh, good memories, thanks!

Mine was actually about an hour away from home, Regency Mall in Richmond, VA.

I had my 8th b-day party at Farrell's. We had a Zoo Sundae! I still have all of the little plastic stick zoo animals packed away somewhere!

From what I remember, we always went to the one on Beach Blvd. We lived at Bushard and Yorktown, back then, so I'm not sure it was the closest one.:confused3
Bushard and Yorktown?! Howdy neighbor! I grew up off of Brookhurst and Indianapolis. :)

Oh wow!! Just down the street! :wave2: So, Edison?

Oh, and to stay on topic......OP, any word as to when the new Farrell's is opening?? Maybe I should hop over to facebook and join the group!!

Glad to see so many people had the same great memories that I do of Farrells! My brother had his 18th Birthday party there much to his chagrin. He was set up. It was hilarious!

I dont know about any open dates or anything, just what was posted yesterday on the Farrells page.

I cant wait!

Ours was in Woodfield Mall. Funny, we were just talking about the great old ice cream parlors last week at my in-laws. My son couldn't believe it when I described the "Super Purist" -- 6 scoops of vanilla ice cream and a pitcher of hot fudge. That was my favorite (and DH wonders why I'm so fluffy now!)

Mine was in North Riverside Mall growing up. I'm closer to Oak Brook and Yorktown now though.

Am I the only one who was scared of that place? :confused3

Monday, January 5, 2009 at 9:06pm

First, thank you for becoming a FARRELL'S FAN! We plan to keep you updated as our company, Farrell's International begins the journey to put Farrell's Ice Cream Parlours in every State. Farrell's International is planning to open our second FARRELL's this summer in Mission Viejo, Ca. We are proud that Robert "Bob" Farrell is our mentor and good friend. We promised Bob that every store that opens will be as good as (or better) than Farrell's that you remember. That is also our pledge to you as well. For those who live in or plan to visit the Los Angeles area, be sure to visit Farrell's in Santa Clarita, located at Mountasia Fun Center only 20 minutes north of Hollywood. Check out the FACEBOOK page: MOUNTASIA SANTA CLARITA for information. Also, be sure to visit www.FarrellsUSA.com.
Be sure to spread the word, "FARRELL'S IS COMIN' BACK!!!"
Sincerely,
Paul Kramer
President
Michael Fleming
Chairman
Farrell's International

"My" Farrels was the one at Ford City Mall too. I would LOVE it if they bring one back to the Chicagoland area. This is a place I would drive an hour to get to, if not more.

Grew up with Farrels in So cal and hawaii, the good news is if they bring one to every state, we will get one in Boise for sure. It is always nice to live in the biggest town in a rural state!
