Ok this made me really happy this morning! LOL

I am a "fan" of Farrells Ice Cream Parlour on Facebook and this morning they sent out this message

First, thank you for becoming a FARRELL'S FAN! We plan to keep you updated as our company, Farrell's International begins the journey to put Farrell's Ice Cream Parlours in every State. Farrell's International is planning to open our second FARRELL's this summer in Mission Viejo, Ca. We are proud that Robert "Bob" Farrell is our mentor and good friend. We promised Bob that every store that opens will be as good as (or better) than Farrell's that you remember. That is also our pledge to you as well. For those who live in or plan to visit the Los Angeles area, be sure to visit Farrell's in Santa Clarita, located at Mountasia Fun Center only 20 minutes north of Hollywood. Check out the FACEBOOK page: MOUNTASIA SANTA CLARITA for information. Also, be sure to visit www.FarrellsUSA.com.
Be sure to spread the word, "FARRELL'S IS COMIN' BACK!!!"
Sincerely,
Paul Kramer

oh I use to love going there as a kid! It was a birthday party dream! LOL! What was that huge thing of ice cream, the ZOO? It would be fun to see it back!

I hated that place, but DW loved it. Seems like there was a lot of banging drum/ringing bells --or was there a siren? :sad2:

The ZOO and, they had wonderful Rueben sandwiches. I hope they make it to Texas.

Oh I wish they would come back to the east coast! I loved that big Drum they would bang on your birthday to humiliate you!
I want my kids to experience that humiliation!:rotfl2: Come on Farrells!

I loved Farrell's!
    :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Yes! The zoo was the big thing they'd bring out for birthday parties. Two servers would carry it around on a stretcher to bells and sirens, then each kid would get a scoop (or two or three), along with those little plastic animals! :rotfl:

IIRC, the trough was meant for one person. It was big, too, and if you ate the whole thing, you got a blue ribbon that said "I made a pig of myself at Farrell's". :rotfl2: I only remember this because when I was a kid, I liked those ribbons and convinced my aunt to earn one! :lmao: :lmao:

I ate at a Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Singapore (of all places) two years ago. They had "The Zoo". I didn't order it though.........that whole business meal thing kinda precludes such a large dessert.

They also had a Woolworths down the street.

It was like walking down memory lane....

That would be amazing if Farrell's came back!!! That was THE place when I was young. My brother and I loved the little candy shop that was attached to it.

Now if they just brought back Pipe Organ Pizza too, I'd really be happy! :-)

I remember the one in Langhorne PA at Oxford Valley Mall. They used to bring out the hot fudge in little silver cups "on the side" (one for each scoop) so you could add as much as you wanted to your sundae.

I'm so glad to hear they are making a come back!! :cheer2: I used to have all of my birthday parties there when I was a child. It was so much fun. I love the atmosphere!!! I always wished it was still around so I could take my daughter. I've told her all about how much fun I used to have there.

The last time I went was when I was 11 in HI, it brought back such good memories. :lovestruc they were no longer in GA at that time...

Oh I love Farrells! I don't know if it's still there but there was a "Farrells" in Portland several years ago. I put it in quotes because it was now a different name (that I can't remember) but inside was Farrell's. All the sinage, menus etc. I used to make the drive from Seattle at least once a year to go there!

That was where we used to go every year for my birthday as a kid, until we moved to Washington.

And here, I thought it was just a local joint! We had one that we went to when I was a teenager. We had such a blast making fools of ourselves there.

Ah, yes, the tin roof - and the extra side of fudge! mmmm......

I'm going to add them to my FB too!

I was JUST thinking about Farrell's the other day. I miss it. I know that my kids would love it! I really hope they make a comeback.

"My" Farrell's was in Westshore Mall in Tampa, FL.

"My" Farrells was at Wheaton Plaza in Wheaton Maryland and I used to go there in high school, college and even after college with my DH till they closed.....My DH actually had his bachelor party there because he doesn't drink....so his big indulgence was a Pig's Trough.....the reason it wasn't just a local restaurant to California was that the Marriott corporation bought it in the 70s and expanded....then I guess they were losing money in the late 80s or early 90s and closed their locations.

I just said to my husband last week how I loved Farells as a child. We were watching Bill and Ted ex. adventure. The scene were they get the large sundea always reminds me of Farrells.

I LOVED Farrell's!! Every year, on each of my kids' b-days, I wish that they were still around. Not necessarily for a party, but just a festive birthday dinner. I hope they brach out east. If I had a spare $500,000, I would buy a franchise!:rotfl:

True confession:

I worked at Farrell's through my later teen years. Did amazing things for the shyer side of my personality! :lmao: To this day, I simply cannot get embarrassed easily, but how can you when you spend years 16 to 20 saying "cut the music! fountain noise! drum roll please!" I can still recite most of the announcements, and probably still remember most of the menu. In fact, I was describing some of it to my daughter when we were at Beaches and Cream recently and someone ordered a kitchen sink. NOTHING compared to the Zoo.

And yes, they did have the best ever ice cream, even with serving so much, I'd be happy to dig into a tin roof!
