Farrells is making a comeback!!

I hope they build one in my area soon. I loved going there when I was kid. My Farrells was in Tyrone Mall in St Pete.

OMG! We were just talking about this place. My Mom used to take me there all the time. I'm pretty sure she did it just to torment me. When they would yell, "Drum Roll!" I would start crying. I was scared & hated that place!

Farrell's at Ford City was the site of my 8th or 9th birthday party as well as our post-confirmation dessert, so that puts my last trip there at about 1983.

I loved walking through the penny candy section prior to the exit and picking sticks of rock candy!

I would so love to see them come back to Chicago! The kids would love it there!

I had about 10 "I made a pig of myself at Farrell's" ribbons hanging in my room as a kid for eating "trough" sundae's. I also had a birthday party complete with a Zoo sundae. Our "local" parlor was at Castleton Mall in Indy.

We always used to get the tin roof sundae! :)

I loved the Tin Roof Sundae and the Hot Fudge Nutty Nutty. Both with an extra side of fudge. Having fudge on the side instead of in the sundae was a great idea, it stopped the icecream from melting!

"My" Farrells was at Wheaton Plaza in Wheaton Maryland ....

Wheaton was our place too. I'm from Baltimore but no trip to DC was complete without stopping at Farrells on the way home. :thumbsup2

I grew up with Farrells too. Sometimes we would just say it was a friends birthday, just so we could get them to bang the drum too.

I don't know if they would bring one back around here since there is just too much competition from Friendlys. But if they did, I would definetely go, a blast from the past!!

There was a great episode of the Bob Newhart Show...they went to a place just like Farrells and their version of the Zoo was "The Whale". The servers brought one out to Bob (who was embarassed to attract attention) chanting loudly "You can't do it, you can't do it, you can't eat a Whale!"

Cool! I grew up going to the Huntington Beach one. I looked at their website and I have to admit that I don't think the new ones will look quite as old fashioned and "homey" as the old ones, but I still can't wait!!! AND, the Mission Viejo one will be really close to me!!!:thumbsup2

Oh I would be thrilled if Farrell's came back here. Mine was at Paramus Park(mall).

I grew up in Hawaii, and we had several Farrells. When we moved to Colorado (early 70's) there were a few, but they closed after a few years.

I would love to be able to take DD6 to one!

My favorite desesrt was the Denver Mint. A scoop of pepermint ice cream with marshmellow topping and a scoop of mint chocolate chip with chocolate sauce.

They also had this huge sandwich that could be shared by a bunch of people. I remember it had "gastronomical" in it's name.

That's really cool. :) I hope they make a comeback here too. There used to be one in the Tacoma Mall. I loved that place. We went there for my 9th birthday (1976 :rolleyes1 ). I loved the little candy store up front too. We always had to get jawbreakers!

In HS we used to go the one at Brunswick Sq Mall in NJ. Oh the memories:goodvibes

I loved going there as a kid! Though I feared the drum they brought out for birthdays. It actually brought me to tears and made me cower in the corner of the booth. That's great they are coming back.

When I was a kid and into my early teens there was a Farrells in San Jose, Ca. at the Eastridge Shopping center. My Mother would never spring for a party but we attended a few. I remember the hats and the servers running thru the restaurant with that Zoo. I would love to have my B-Day there some day! :cloud9:

I loved the candy store, it was the only place to get huge jaw breakers.

Into my late teens I remember my Dad taking us to Daly City, Ca. to Serramonte Center (I think) for milkshakes after we had all driven into the city to see the premier of E.T.

About 6-8 years ago the company I worked for owned a graphic design company. I was at one of the trade shows and a rep from Farrells came by our booth. At the time he said they were bringing them back but as far as I know the only ones around are in Santa Clarita, Ca. and Hawaii I think.

Don't think I will hold my breath, but I would love to see them come back - hats and all!

I was JUST thinking about Farrell's the other day. I miss it. I know that my kids would love it! I really hope they make a comeback.

"My" Farrell's was in Westshore Mall in Tampa, FL.

that was my Farrell's as well!

I had some GREAT times there.

Forgot to add that our Farrell's was at the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa!

Clearly, I'm the only cranky, meanie Farrel's hater here. I like ice cream, honest! I just got annoyed with the atmosphere.

Note to self: When partying with Dis-ers and ice cream, bring bass drum, bell, siren, and air horn. I don't think Farrel's had air horns, but these folks love a racket;)

The one on Brookhurst or the one on Beach Blvd? :)

I grew up in HB, and mostly went to the one on Brookhurst. :thumbsup2

From what I remember, we always went to the one on Beach Blvd. We lived at Bushard and Yorktown, back then, so I'm not sure it was the closest one.:confused3
