FarmVILLE on Facebook

What I think qualifies as "the computer playing the game" are folks who use those tools that do the plowing, seeding, and/or harvesting for them.

Now see, those farming bots I don't mind at all - you can do whatever you want on your own farm, just don't steal my stuff!

I have rare animals and I breed them FOR MY NEIGHBOR'S ENJOYMENT - not for someone to just grab it with a bot because it is rare and stash it on their farm with the other 100+ of the same thing, or just to sell it. I grab for myself: 1 of each foal and 2 of each calf. Plus a few more recently to shove in the Nursery.

Speaking of automated things. Are there automated ways of fertilizing crops/feeding chickens? I swear none of my crops are fertilized, but as soon as I go out and spend 15-20 minutes visiting/fertilizing my neighbors' farms, I'll come back to my farm and find my whole farm is fertilized!

It's almost like they have something set up that as soon as I fertilize their crops, they automatically fertilize mine.

The only real way to circumvent the snag bars is to make a special "friends list" on Facebook of people you want to give the rarer items to, and then when you share them you click on the little lock on the "share" page and make that item only visible to people on that special list.

I have a FV list that I publish to - but it is ALL of my FV neighbors. If I wanted to pare it down, how would I even decide which neighbors to publish to or not? What criteria would you use? (Honestly, I'm looking for info here.)

I just learned about that work around myself this week. I really don't have a lot of rare items but I might be limiting my nicer eggs I find to the people who help me.

You know ... it's a two way street IMO.

I know I have seen ads previously for programs that will visit your neighbors, fertilize, feed chickens, etc, etc. It seems like they can be programmed to do pretty much anything. :confused3

Good question. :confused3
As I said, I don't care who is taking my stuff, it's there for all my neighbors to grab, in whatever fashion they want. So the only "list" I publish to is a list of my neighbors. I only do this so that my non-FV friends don't have to wade through all of my FV posts.

For some people, I know they put their closest friends/relatives on a list, that way they get first dibs on the really rare stuff.

I will say, though, that a lot of this could be resolved if Zynga would allow you to keep 1 of the animals that you are breeding. I mean, honestly, the reason I'm trying to breed something is so I can have one! :rotfl:

The Facebook Wall is really quite a silly (dare I say "stupid") way of dealing with making bonuses available; they should be made available within the "game" not outside of it.
I totally agree. I think there should be a "game wall" or something like that to weed out all the game feeds from the real wall posts.

I don't know. From what I've heard (only just last night) the lists that publish who is "using" the bots are unreliable. I have also been to the site that created that snag bar. But I haven't downloaded it and never will.

I seriously doubt that a lot of people have it set to every 2 seconds. I would think it would be a drain on their computer's resources. Then again, I have an ancient computer and know something like that would never work on it, but don't know how it would affect a newer computer.

Personally, if I had issues with people using it, I would publish only to a few close neighbors that I trusted. Especially the rarer items.

I don't worry about it too much as I don't have much of the rare items.

For the second time, I've "found" a wild mustang on my farm. I then have to pick 5 people to send an "email" to, who I need to assist me within 3 days, or I lose the mustang. It's not posting to their profile pages, and it's not posting on my feed, so what's the deal with this? Does Zynga actually send an email to the person? What if the person doesn't have an email listed with Zynga? Will I ever get the wild mustang?

Yes, the people you pick get an e-mail from Zynga. Only those who have given permission for Zynga to have their e-mail are in the list for you to pick. You can choose a minimum of 5 people and a max of 15 to get the email.

Thanks. I had no idea. I thought I was only allowed to pick 5 and all 5 had to respond. I also have a habit of deleting all my emails without reading them. Hope I haven't let anyone down. Guess maybe I should post on my profile who I've selected and ask them to check their emails? :confused3

Or ask a friend who got the email to copy the link and post it to your profile. Then anyone can click it to help you get the mustang.

It is a program that automatically checks your feed at a set time interval (you can set it for every 2 secs or something ridiculous) and automatically grabs any bonuses/animals/fuel/whatever posted by your neighbors.

Yes, I know it is just a game - but jeebus, play fair! If you have 5 friends that use snag bars, then POOF - all of your foals you just posted are gone, none for your other neighbors. It is not right to be able to grab everything off the feed, 24 hours a day, and leave nothing for fair-playing people.

That explains everything now. I have a few neighbors where, as soon as I see something from them ni my feed, I could click on it and it is already gone.

They do send an email. I had one show up on my alternate account and it sent "emails" to those I chose. Of course one of the people I chose was my real account. When I saw it in my email, I tried to help. Unfortunately, it never went through. I don't know what was going on with it. But I ended up losing the mustang. :

Has that worked for you? I tried that the other day and the people that clicked were directed to some FV download. I know I copied the link correctly.

I'll have to try it again if I ever get another Mustang. :thumbsup2

OK, so I went thru and made *another* FV list of about 60 or so neighbors to post my good stuff to. That's about half of my neighbors. I chose people who are active players, who are always sharing their stuff, and who I don't think would be using a bot.

Yes, it did work. I know the first round of mustang emails had a bad link that had to be manually corrected. Once I made the change (I sent the email to my DH) and posted it, friends clicked and it worked.

As far as the bots go, I have never used one and never will. I am a level 70 player with millions in coins, and lots of rare animals, decorations, etc. I do use the FV Bonus Checker once in a while. It's a facebook app that pulls your FV posts and puts them in one place for you to click and get the bonus manually. Sometimes the item has already been claimed, but instead of searching the feed for items, it nice to go to one place for them.

Oh OK, I know it worked like that when the link had to be corrected, but my Mustang was just 2 days ago with a working link. I'm going to try it again though, just in case.

I have a question...

Sometimes when I'm plowing these little gold coin things seem to pop up and bounce around. What are they????

Got my mustang yesterday.:banana: Picked my daughter as one of the people to help, then copied the link from her email account and posted to my profile. Worked like a charm!

Anyone get the plane yet? Any idea how much FV money it takes to use it? Any idea how this impacts the co-ops?
