I'm heading down to Universal and Disney in November with my mom. I just called Mears for the fare from MCO to DoubleTree at the entrance of Universal. It's $18 per adult and $29 round trip. So, I'm looking at $36 + tips, acceptable. But if I'm going from DoubleTree to Pop Century, it's $51 one way on their Sedan since it's hotel to hotel. I did the taxi estimator on the Mears website, and taxi fare is only about $35. It is a big difference. I know I have to take into account traffic and everything. But, I'm heading over around 7AM, so shouldn't be a problem. So, is $35 taxi estimate correct? :sad2: I was expecting Mears to be cheaper than taxi. Anyone did DoubleTree at Universal or surrounding to Disney before? and how were the fares?

I usually call the taxi company and ask for an approximate fare. (I get the taxi number from mousesavers.com)

Mears IS cheaper than a taxi (although Mears is also the official cab company of Walt Disney World). That $36 for the shuttle is round trip and absolute; the $35 for the taxi is one way and an estimate.

The $36 is for MCO to DoubleTree, that is absolute. I'm only doing one way for 2 ppl, so it's $36 and fine. For return trip to MCO, I'll be using the ME from Pop. But, the problem is from DoubleTree to Pop Century. Mears said they don't have a shared shuttle going from hotel to hotel. They would have to put me under their Sedan service, which runs about $51 one way. And their taxi department gave me the estimate of $35 +- based on traffic. I guess, my only choice for DT to Pop is taxi...
