FAQ for Disneyland Brides

Hi! I think we have just decided that we will have our wedding at disneyland. It is just much closer than wdw. So I was wondering if anyone knows any good resources for disneyland information. theres not much on these boards and their website doesn't have much. We won't be getting married until after I graduate college which will be in about 2 1/2 years, but I would like some info now to plan by.

Also I think wee will be going to dl soon and I was wondering if it is possible to show up or have an appointment where they give you basic information and maybe show you some of the areas. I was wondering so we could make sure this is what we want since so much money will be put into it.

My DLR Princess princess: and I are going in 9 days for our planning session. We will report back everything we find out!

Congratulations on your engagement!!

Hi,

It's so nice to see that there are some disneyland brides out there!

I was wondering if nebdy knew whether or not you could hold the reception in the Animation building in CA park? I'd heard a rumor but i'd love to find out more info before i get my hopes up

Yes you can. :thumbsup2 We were originally considering it but our party was too large...

so the Animation building is a possibility! yay!

ok now for my 2nd ?... does it cost a lot more than the average disney reception? like how much is the site rental fee?

thank you all so much for your help!

If you get married at DLR and book the minimum I don't think there is an extra charge, but that is just what I have gleaned from various posts. You pay the wedding site fee, but the reception fee is no charge (except for the food decorations flowers dj etc etc etc)

I believe our DCA minimums were the same as hotel minimums. The only difference is that for an in park event you have a mandatory, set entertainment fee. Plus you have to use Disney Floral and Disney's DJ. No exceptions... If your guests are walking through the park when it is open, you have to pay for Disney escorts, too...

Hi All!! I'm am going to DLR next week for a site meeting (regardless of my mom running around talking about planning sessions!! Sorry mom, don't be sad! ) I was just wondering if anyone knew how likely it is to get your wedding date. I know at WDW there are so many locations for ceremonies but I'm nervous because of the construction going on right now that I won't get my date. It's not until 2009 but still. If anyone knows how cutthroat (is that the right word?) it is I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

Indy Bride-

When you booked your wedding was there very many dates available for the month of May in 2009? Thank you!

I am meeting with someone from Disney on Tuesday and will let you know how hard it was. From what I hear DLR does not do nearly as many weddings as WDW so lets both cross our fingers!!! :)

So, I didn't get much information that I didn't already have and I would suggest other DL Brides to forgo a site visit and just do the planning session and tasting session. The planning session is suggested at 8 months out & I was told we couldn't do a tasting session until 2 months prior. Hopefully I can push one back a little and one up a little. I was only able to see halls that I could use but if you want to see a picture of one of the two rooms I was able to see let me know and I will pm you. However, March was a wonderful time to go to Disney and am thinking about moving my wedding up a few weeks. I told Dan that we had to make a decision by the end of this weekend about the date change and then I will officially start planning.

If there are any specific questions please let me know. I was not given any specific information about the Animation building because I told her I wanted it in the Grand Californian Hotel. I think they are pretty wise to us asking questions for others. I did get pricing info for menus, bars, and cakes- however I don't know what half the cakes look like.

I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful to all the soon-to-be Dineyland Brides. We are a rare breed!

Isn't that too true? I just can't justify going all the way to Florida when DL is an hr down the road... besides... I grew up with DL... it's my 2nd home... sorta haha...

well please keep us as updated as possible! ur our only link!

btw... do u know what the minimum and max guest requirement is for the Animation Building? My guest list will be rather small and that's really the only site I love...

Val,
We had our menu tasting at 6 months. At the time we were living in Norhern Ca so we weren't able to get down there too often. We told them when we were headed down and they scheduled it. So you could always try and see what happens.

That is good to hear. I'm so glad I have another way to get information about DFTW. You have been so helpful! Thanks again. pixiedust:

Can anyone give me more of a specific answer on how much an actual wedding will cost at Disney. It looks like we will have about 83 guests. I requested info on prices but I would just like to know a round about number of what anyone has actually spent. I believe it's $85/ person for events starting before 2pm and jumps up to $110/person for events starting after 2pm. Thank you

On the first page of this thread, someone posted pictures of their wedding, in one photo it shows an aisle runner and it reads "And they lived Happliy Ever After". I would love to know where you got your aisle runner from? I love it!!!!

welcome! That was my aisle runner, and FTW handled all the ordering and stuff, so you can ask them!

It all depends on what you want for your wedding. You have basic minimums you have to hit: 10,000 for weekday weddings, 12000 friday-sunday weddings. All food and beverage MUST come from Disney but that's it. More than likely you won't have much trouble meeting that with your food and ceremony location fee. I am planning on using an outside photographer, dj, and possibly florist. For in park there is a higher minimum for Disneyland at 100,000. They do not quote minimums for DCA & you inquire to that on your own. They say the average cost for a Wedding ins 26,000 right now. You can definatly do less than that at Disney.

I moved my wedding up to April 23 but my May date was available as well. The person I spoke to said Saturday's fill up very quickly but mid-week weddings are more rare. I would suggest you talk to someone as soon as you have a definite idea on your date. They are not as strict as WDW about booking Weddings at a certain month mark. Mine is over a year a way and I should be getting my contract this week. :goodvibes I think at the time she still had weekends available for May 2009. Hope that helps somehow!
