FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

Anyone know if the soft serve cones at Animal Kingdom or if the rice krispie treats at the Boardwalk candy shop would be considered snacks? Do they have to one of the listed items in the cart? The soft serve cones at AK are from a cart. Also what about Dole Whips or Dole floats? These are my favorite snacks!

Anyone ever skipped counter service meals and combined them for use at table service? I think breakfast, a snack and table service dinner would be enough food for me. I'd rather pool my table service dinner and counter service lunches to eat a few times at a signature dining restaurant every other night (and skip lunches).

I'm confused. I thought you could only pool TS credits. How does pooling CS meals help you with signature dining restaurants? Wouldn't you just end up with more counter service credits to use. Are there signature counter service places to eat?

I'm interested in signature table service places, so I was wondering if you could use your counter service credits toward table service meals (such as two counter service credits= 1 table service meal, four counter service credits= 2 table service credits). Maybe it's not allowed.

Also wondering how breakfast credits translate--are those part of the table service credits?

For example, how many table service credits would I receive (total) on two dining tickets (one adult, one child) for seven days?

Thanks for help! :goodvibes

Hi! You said 7 days, are you staying 6 nights I'm assuming? Then you will receive 6 TS credits for each person (12 total). THere is much debate on whether those are separated by adult and child, so I'm not going there as I really have no idea what the current status is. However, I do know that you cannot use CS credits for TS, no matter how many you are willing to combine. I have heard of people using TS for CS ("downgrading"?) but that doesn't make sense monitarily. As far as breakfast goes, if it's CS it's a CS credit, if it's TS (ie CRT breakfast, etc) it is TS.... it doesn't matter what meal you use your credit for, it is only based on the "type" of meal.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Tink2020! This is what I thought. I just wanted to make sure I understood everything correctly.

Thank you! Do you know how many CS credits one receives? It sounds like (using AKL restaurants as an example) we could only do one table service restaurant per day, such as Boma for Breakfast or Boma for dinner, but not both. Basically, we'd have to do Mara (counter service) for breakfast and lunch, and then Boma for dinner. Then, if we wanted to try Jiko (worth two credits), we'd only have counter service avail for two days, then the one table service dinner at Jiko.

Maybe the AP discount with the DDE would be better suited for us? I'd like to be able to do Boma's for breakfast, Jiko for dinner, for example. Apparently, that would be 3 TS credits in one day and no CS (we'd have them left over). Oh well :umbrella:

You can do 3 sit downs in one day if you want to, or 3 counter service. You can eat all your snacks in one day if you want. Once they are gone, they are gone.

It sounds like if you get 6 TS credits for a 7 day stay, you only get to go to one TS restaurant per day, on average (be it breakfast, lunch or dinner).
I just saw that you only get two meals per day (one TS credit and one CS per day!) not three, plus a snack, so now I see the credit allotment.

You can stay for 6 nights, 2 people, meaning you have 12 CS and 12 TS meals (plus 12 snacks). You can use all of them up in just 4 days if you want to!

Sounds like there is alot of confussion going on. :teeth: ...To either make matters worse...or help out...I'll give you my 2 cents worth.

You can use as many TS credits at you want each day...until you've used them up....

We are using 3 TS meals one day...at CP for breakfast...then 3 more that night for dinner at CRT...We then plan on using more of our CS meals the next day for both breakfast and lunch...then the rest of our TS credits for dinner that night at WCC... (Yes I already know we can't share at CP....but I figured paying for one of the chilren at that meal would be the best way to go...)

You get 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack credit each person (X) the number of days your staying...were staying 3 nights and there are 4 of us...so we'll have 12 TS, 12 CS and 12 snacks...We've decided to spit meals (Hopefuly we can) to stretch our credits and dine at more places...plus less waste of food at each place.

Oh and for the other poster....You can not use CS credits for TS meals...no swaping of those.

Thanks sooo much for all the help! I'm still thinking we might go w/ the dining plan...if nothing else than an incentive to try all the great restaurants!
Anyone have info on the questions about the snacks I posted earlier? :earsgirl:

just got back.

NO on the soft serve cones at AK. each snack place has small disney dining plan icons for what can be applied.

you can still use child credits for adults, and for those still wondering if it's worth it - i had 4 CS left over, and used 9 TS for character breakfasts (not the best value), and still came out at least $50 ahead, and it was nice to order whatever i wanted on the menu. i also enjoyed all my meals, too.

We have booked directly with Disney our 7 night stay at Port Orleans, can we add the dining package or should we have done this at the time of booking or hotel?

Thanks, Jackie

You can still add it on! I believe it's something like a week out that it has to be booked, but all you have to do is call them back! :teeth:

When I called a few days ago, I was told we couldn't share meals even if the restaurant was not a buffett or an all you can eat. I had heard from others that you could share. Has anyone been recently and shared a table service meal?

Welcome to the DIS!!!

My DH and I are "big eaters" ... we eat all of our own meal at WDW and usually share appitizers and desserts. We just returned from WDW using the meal plan and I know for a fact you cannot share at all you can eat or buffet meals. Reports from "light eaters" indicate that sometimes you can share and sometimes you cannot in the regular plated restuarants. My guess is that it depends on the server.

Thanks for big welcome and the info! :teeth: We are still trying to decide if we want to do the dining paln or not. I think it is probably a pretty good deal unless we decided to really watch what we ate. As it is, we are scheduled for 3 character meals (Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree and Cinderella's Royal Table) not to mention a "date night" at California Grill. I think the dining plan will pay for itself with all that. Thanks again! :earsgirl:

Make sure to check Deb's AllEars.net for current menus and prices: http://www.allearsnet.com/din/dining.htm. The first 3 restaurants mentioned are all 1 Table Service credit restaurants and the California Grille is a 2 TS credit restaurant. We had dinner there last Wednesday for our anniversary :).
