FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

We also booked with AAA and saved over $200.00. Also theri trip insurance is cheaper too and I think a better deal. Even if I buy their trip insurance I will still have money left from the $200.00 I saved.

I am still wondering if I should get the trip insurance.
If you are looking for advice on trip insurance, I would post on another board-maybe budget? This thread is about the Disney Dining Plan, so you probably won't get much of a response.

I know that but I was reffering to post earlier about saving money with the Dinning Plan and trip insurance by booking though AAA. The last comment was just me thinking out loud. Getting the Dinning plan and trip though AAA I saved over 200.

Sorry if I misinterpreted...sounded like you were looking for advice/comments on insurance because you didn't mention dining in your post. Yes...AAA is a great way to save!

AAA is the American Automobile Association. It is a club, you pay a yearly membership in return for services like roadside assistance. The also offer their members discounts for certain things, including Disney vacations.

ah, this is what we call ADAC back here in germany... "allgemeiner deutscher automobil club".... but no disney discounts ;)

thanks

solferino is correct. If you purchase the DP, everyone in your party (room) must be on the plan. You also must purchase the plan for your lenght of stay...DP matches the number of nights you are staying. The only way around this is to get a package for a portion of your stay & book room-only for the portion you don't want dining. The downside to doing this is that your DP credits are only valid until midnight on the night you check out. In your case, this would be the night your package ends. So, you wouldn't be able to stretch your meal credits throughout your entire stay if a portion of it is room-only.

I hope that made sense.

We have a 2BDR (DVC) booked for 8 nights for myself, DW and DSIL and the three of us are getting the Dining plan for 8 days as required. DW just found out that her cousin will be in town for 4 days out of trip and wants to stayin our room.

MY QUESTION: If she stays with us for the last 3 nights of our trip and WANTS the DP, does she have to pay for all 8 nights or just the 3 she will in our room. If this is not possible we are NOT letting her share a room as it is economical for the three of us to use the Dining Plan for our trip.

I would think they would make her have it for the 8 days. How are they going to know she is only there for 3 nights? I think the only way to find out is to call DVC.

Yea, that's a tricky one. I would call as shelleyz suggested.

Hiya! You qualify for AAA Disney discounts in most European countries using your own country's Automobile Association's membership. ADAC is an afficiliate of AAA. Here in Ireland and in the UK it's just called AA (Automobile Association) and they're also affiliated to AAA.

Basically they're all part of the 'Show Your Card and Save' group which is recognised for discounts in hotels all over the world including Disney!! I checked all of this out last year and I was eligible for the Disney AAA discounts on rooms. You just need to show your ADAC card.

Similarly U.S. AAA members qualify for AA discounts here in Ireland etc. etc.

The problem I have is that the only way you can get an AAA discounted Disney PACKAGE is by calling AAA themselves, you can't get the discounted package through Disney CRO so I'm not sure how to even go about that but for room only discounts you are definitely eligible. :)

oh really ? This sounds awesome !!

what exactly is the AAA package then and what discounts do i get ? so i have to book my next disney trip (unfortunately not too soon :( ) via ADAC ?

I have one more question. Our kids are teens and plan on taking off by themselves during the day and we are meeting up for dinner. Are the meals all on one card or will they each have their own card ? They want to do lunch on their own.

My 5 year old used her own card when she was out with my sister, so the answer is yes!

She would have to pay for all 8 nights! And why can't she stay with you if she can't get it for just the 3 nights. She might as well just pay out of pocket for her meals, pretty simple really. If she has to get her own room, even at a Value, plus adding a one day ticket, just to get the Dining Plan for three days, it isn't a good deal at all!

I wouldn't worry about her being there, just don't tell them. If you aren't going over your numbers allowed, not a big deal. Or wait until she arrives and then tell them she is there.

Well, with the AAA package you can add the Dining Plan too and I'd love to do that BUT you have to book an AAA package through an AAA office in the U.S. as far as I know so I can't do that. However, you can book AAA Room only discounts through Disney Central Reservations Office so the best thing for you to do would be to ring them (DIsney CRO) directly and ask about AAA discounts for your trip).
:)
