FAQ - 2010 DDP, DxDP and QSDP Everything you always wanted to know

I am so confused....and hungry now.

I dont know whether to do the DxDP, or do the TIW card. If I did it correctly, the TIW card will give us a bit more flexibility and will not make me so crazy.

I counted up where I want to go and averaged out the meal costs OOP (sans adult beverages since the DxDP doesnt include those). Then I compared it to the cost of the DxDP. Its about equal although I didnt figure in the snacks.

Then, I took the figure it would cost for the meals OOP and compared it to what I would save with TIW. I would save about 160 after the $75 the TIW costs, and that doesnt count the adult beverages.

I should tell you here that we will be in EPCOT one day for F&W so I know I should figure that in but I dont know how since I have never been.

Soooo...am I seeing it clearly that TIW is my best bet? For my wallet and my waistline?

Or...is it best to go regular DDP and use TIW?

See, for THIS moment, that makes more sense to me. But...

I know - I have asked this all before but I am still having trouble figuring it out...can someone please take pity on me and tell me what to do?

At CRT dinner, does the app come with the entree on the DDP? I've been 3 times and still can't remember

Also, what other restaurants come with an app on the reg DP? Seems I remember BD FDP.

I know apps don't come with the DDP...however, seems like I remember reading there was a still a few that did.

At Capptains Grille, on the top of the menu is a special area, gives three app, 3 entrees and 3 desserts. You may choose one from each category.
I think Restraunt Marrekesh and La Cellier has something similar.

Also Disney now has menues on their website for table service restraunts.

The DDP was a good deal for us, however I did my homework before I left and knew what we needed to spend daily in order to break even or come out to the good on the plan.

Appetizers on the regular plan are available at the following:

Buffets
All you can eat family style restaurants
Dinner skillet at WCC comes with salad (not applicable at lunch)
Fixed price restaurants (Akershus, CRT)
Dinner shows
Special fixed price menus (at Le Cellier, Captain's Grill, Chefs de France and Kona Cafe only. No substitutions at all are allowed when ordering from these menus)
Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose or Brown Derby
Candlelight Processional packages (all will likely be 2 TS regardless of the level of restaurant)

Marrakesh has multi-course "feast" meals available, but there is a surcharge per person who orders them on DDP. $5-$7 surcharge depending on which "feast" you order.

We are planning a trip for the week before Labor Day and want to stay at POR - but the QSDP works better for us than the DDP. Does anyone know if you can "downgrade" your dining plan?

I did the same thing trying to figure out the most economical. It would be about $1050 to add the Deluxe to my plan. When I figure it out, I would use most of the DDP for the 2 TS credit resteraunts (Flying Fish, Calif Grill, and Narcooses) which still leaves me with 1. We like Boma, it would be 154 for 5 (I consider the 20% discount the tip I would be leaving) so we would pay OOP for that one. So thats four nights, the other three days/nights, will do an Ohana brkfts - $125.00 again OOP, Cape May dinner buffet, $154.00 - OOP and Tutto Lunch - $125.00 I still have 1 TS credit to do a sit down and we have 7 quick services for all the days. 1 snack per day is plenty and if I need another, they are not to expensive. So the way I figure it, I am well below the $1050 even with the purchase of the TIW card...

You can purchase the QSDP rather than the DDP, it's not considered to be a downgrade. Have you already booked your vacation with the DDP? You can make changes without charge up to 45 days before your arrival.

We did the DxDP last year and made very good use of it. We ate at a few restaurants that required two credits (Narcoossees, Yachtsman Steak House and the Spirit of Aloha show) and we ate room service twice for breakfast when we had early days planned.

I think with good planning it can be utilized fully. We had no problem with snacks as it was 90 almost every day and we drank our share of snacks and had lots of ice cream.

Yes - unless you are on the free dining promotion. You can upgrade a free dining plan, but you can't downgrade it.

No, you can never add and pay for DDP at check-in. It must be done prior to that. I don't know what the rules are for British reservations but in the US it's no later than 72 hours before check-in.

Did you book a very long time ago? I booked last May for this October and was offered free dining. I am guessing by the amount of your deposit that you have 3 people on your reservation (no flights). What would the DDP cost for you all if you paid for it for the length of stay? You need to work out whether you save enough by losing your deposit to still come out quite well ahead. It is possible. Annoying, yes, but possible. You need to hurry though. I see you have 4 days left and I think you need to add the DDP at least 72 hours prior to check in.

I don't know if this has been asked already, but I've been looking and haven't found anything.

So, I'm doing the deluxe dining plan and we're doing lots of signatures (about one per night) which means that I want to use one of our two snack credits for breakfast and the other as an actual snack on those days.

So, my plan is to use our refillable mugs and get a snack at the resort for breakfast. one credit per person. My question is this: lets say we both want a food snack in the afternoon and we want a drink too. Can we ask if we can pay OOP for the drink and not the food? will they make us use our 'tomorrow's' snack credit for the drink? how do i specify that I want to pay for the drink OOP? Thanks.

no you do not have to use your snack credits just tell the CM when you go to pay what you want to do.

refills are free. the mornings in the resort aren't the issue because we'll have our refillable mugs and can use our snack credit for a food item. My question was realted to in the park only. So, we want a snack in the park but we only have one credit left. That's fine and all if we don't want a drink with our snack because we'll only have one credit left over at that point. However, I do want a drink with our in park snack which is why i was asking about paying oop for this.
