Fantasyland Refurb?

I'm just thrilled!!
Make fun if you want....but I actually got misty eyed watching all the new changes for FL!!! I really felt the magic that's going to be built.
I guess my question is just like the first poster on this second page and that is....when willl all this get started? I saw that one person posted saying that all of this will be built around the existing FL, does anyone know that to be so?
My family and I will be in WDW May 18th 2010 and I'm wondering if it will be closed while we are there? It would be nice to know so we know how to plan around it. Even if it is, we'll still be in WDW and who can complain about that!?! :cheer2: Besides it gives us an excuse to go back when it's all finished! :woohoo:

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! This is soooooooooo exciting! My favorite part is the revamping of the queue for Dumbo, I have to say my least favorite part of our last two trips to MK was waiting in the sun with my DD for Dumbo. I never even had a desire to ride Dumbo till we had our DD and HATED waiting in line for it. Not so sure what i think about the star tours referb, it will be great im sure but the youtube video showed the pod race on tatooine, I hope there is some space travel still involved...

I'm excited that Disney is taking some intitiative with expanding an area that needed expansion for a while. But I don't fully agree with what they are putting in there.

Princesses?

Covering the top of the Dumbo ride (no more open air feel)?

PLEASE BRING BACK MR. TOAD!!! Fantasy Land seems to be going more and more in the wrong direction.

Regardless, I am super excited!!

Here is a suggestion!! How about a ride a lot like Mr. Toad's wild ride that is themed to that new movie, "The Princess and the Toad." That would be super cool!!! It would stick with the Princess idea and add an attraction a lot like Mr. Toad (something many people wish they would bring back).

First...Thank you for the pictures and the links. I really wish I could have been able to make it to the Expo.

Second....Do you have more of that presentation? He was getting ready to talk about the rest of the lands at the end of the Fantasyland video.

Thanks again

I know what you mean. It did seem like there was going to be more at the end of that video. If I come across the rest of that video, I will definitely post it.

Dumbo, open air feel??? You mean scalding Florida sun beating down on your neck, most boring line to wait in at WDW??? I wanted to kill myself waiting for Dumbo the last trip... I'd rather wait in line at the DMV...

I think it's just the queue for the dumbo ride, not the ride itself that's under a tent

First of all, I'm pretty much as manly as they get, but I think this idea is a home run. Besides, Disney isn't stupid. It's not going to be all fluffy and pink.

For one, the Dumbo tent will house carnival like games in the cue area (hopefully gratis) which actually sounds kind of like a cue room of sorts. Boys and girls play those types of games. And the rides look pretty cool for both boys and girls as well. Is Splash Mountain girlie? You got all those cute little furry animals running around.

Besides that, is it a crime to expose some of our boys to a softer side of life?

Found it interesting as well that Lumiere is being carted in by a waiter in the restaurant attraction. We know this restaurant will be interactive, but that sure does look like the test run of Ratatouille to me.

Can't wait for all this to come about.

I have to say that I am really excited about the Ariel ride. OMG do you know how many times my kids make me watch the ride they show on The Little Mermaid DVD. I wonder if it will be like that ride?

As for the change in FL, I am still not sure.:confused3 I know DD will love to meet all the princesses and my two sons love them too, for now anyways. But I agree I hope they add some more boy stuff too. But it just seems like such a drastic change to Fantasy Land.

My understanding is that video is not the concept they are using. But from all the concept drawings I have seen and descriptions of the ride. It does seem similiar. I also know the DCA version will be up and running first

I believe they will be using a different concept than the one on the DVD.

Your sons will probably enjoy the villians that will be featured in the new Fantasyland. I think Fantasyland has always been more geared towards girls and it is wonderful it is getting a much needed update. Even though girls enjoy Tomorrowland, Frontierland, and Adventureland, I feel that these are more geared toward boys.

I'm a little skeptical of this, but it could be really cool. I like the idea of have a BatB restaurant.
