Is this a ride and a meet Ariel? Would it be worth it to do the ride if you do not want to meet Ariel? And if you do not, is there a place to cut out after the ride and not have to wait in the meet and greet line?

The ride and the m&g are mutually exclusive. You don't need to do one to do the other. You would have to line up (standby or FP+) for both.

They are separate attractions. You can do one, neither, or both.

(They are not "mutually exclusive", which would mean you could do one or the other but not both.)

Sorry, I used the wrong wording. Thanks for the correction.

I just didn't want to confuse the OP. :goodvibes

The tiering in place at DHS and Epcot is a good example of mutually exclusive (for the first 3 FP anyway).

Good, am only wanting to see the new attraction and just getting the boys on that will be tough, if they had to meet the mermaid they wouldn't do it! I see you listed it on your list mesaboy2 as a B fast pass attraction and since we go a few days to mk during our trip, I think I will fit this one in. Or wondering if I go fast pass plus on this I would miss out on cool stuff In queue line as heard the line is cool?

The standby queue is among the best and most detailed of any at WDW, I will give it that. There is a little game with crabs also that is mildly entertaining. Since the ride itself is an omnimover, it is a high-capacity attraction and can therefore handle lots of people. Posted waits are sometimes in the 45-60 minute range, but most reports it takes more like 30-45 tops most of the day.

It's a neat line but nothing to where you'd purposely want to walk through it and wait vs getting a FP if you don't want to use the FP on other things.

Most of the time it's not a long wait though so I don't see it as a ride where you need a FP.

My son has been on this ride with me a good 15 times between DCA & MK, with no complaints. If asked, I'm sure he'd say he suffered through it for my sake, but I know he likes it. Worst case, if your boys really don't like it, it only lasts a few minutes.

Ds is 7 and didn't mind at all we rode it three times during our trip DD loves ariel and he never complained...

If you guys are RD people and head there first you would not have to wait long at all plus you can still go through the regular line to see all the neat things. We got there at rope drop and pretty much got right on. You can take you time getting there and take some cool pictures.

That could be a plan too. We have a lot of time at Disney, and with the fp+ thing going on, should be able to do things easier and at different times than we use to, I'm thinking. I could just make other FP's for a little later.

My family really liked the ride, and the wait wasn't bad either time we rode it. We did RD one day and it was our 3rd ride so there was no wait. Which sounds good in theory, but it was our first time so I kind of wanted to look around more. Our second ride was around 7:00pm on a Friday night. The wait was only 20 minutes, and my kids loved getting to see everything. For our family there was no way we would fastpass it, but we went in April so we didn't have the option of getting additional fastpasses after our 3 were done.

We LOVE the queu and really like the ride. I have heard some complaints, but for me it is in the mode of a classic Disney dark ride.

We have never had a line, but we enjoyed the ride and have waited for it ever since Lil Mermaid came out on DVD and they had the virtual ride version years ago. Are there fun doodads in the line?
