Fantasyland in Soft Opening-Live Updates NOW

While I am sitting safely at home at this moment, two weeks from this moment I will be on a plane to Disney World. The October 12 date has been floating around all over the web for almost a week. And no, I do not feel bad for anyone at the other parks today. They are not being conspired against. I'm sure they are enjoying whatever it is they are currently doing.

Well considering I know the website being linked to didn't share the information for sake of getting the "scoop" and subsequent site hits and ad revenue, I think it's a pretty awful thing to do.

Do you think they'll continue soft open all weekend?

My sister and her family are about to arrive at the parks any minute. I'd suggested that they hit Epcot first, because it's open later tonight. But, I'm debating about telling her to head straight over to MK and take advantage of the soft open... I'd hate for them to be so close and then miss it!!!!

The staff has been told they're working every day from now on. But since it's the first day it's probably a good idea to hit it since it is open right now in case it does close for a private event or preview.

CM previews are the 22nd and should have the area closed off.

And I just want to point out prior to the area opening this morning there was a line of bloggers/website people waiting outside for it to open.

I don't understand this whole "scoop" statement. Wouldn't a website that divulged the date be the one with "the scoop"? What "scoop" is wdwmagic trying to get? I'm lost. :rotfl:

The page views and ad revenue from the photos you're all going over there to gawk at. Do you really not understand how ad revenue and advertising on websites works?

Doesn't this contradict your theory that the one website was withholding the information to be the only one with the "scoop"? :confused3

We will be there at the same time! :thumbsup2

And I agree, if I had planned on going to another park and then found this out I wouldn't be aggravated. Most of the people following the FLE out here will be going to Disney for years to come. There is always time to see it.

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the new trees and plants. Nice to see them putting some "life" back into the MK!

Not to be "that guy", but a lot of people with CM friends knew about it like a week ago. People had to be told they were working today, and told friends. That's how I knew.

What I don't know however, and hope someone could tell me, is whether or not this will be open for the MNSSHP tonight.

OMG, WHO CARES!!

This is an exciting day for all Disney fans and you are wasting your breath (in this case your fingers) complaining about who posted what first?

Let's all fawn over the cute cups over at Gaston's Tavern or how pretty incredible Ariel looks with her fins or even how whimsical and pretty everything look shall we?

I'm sorry, but I thought your issue was that they were keeping the date a secret to get some scoop. Is that not your issue? And yes, I understand website traffic. Do you understand business matters? Their website is a business. Of course they want people looking at their photos. I do not gawk at photos, I look at what I am interested in and continue on. I think sites like these are great for research. I do not expect them to keep me up to date with every little thing. I am not paying them a penny for the info they give me, so it isn't as though they owe it to me.

ETA: Sorry, just saw your post Cyrano. Sorry to get sidetracked in the thread. I have no interest in continuing with that portion of the discussion. :goodvibes

Now, does anyone know if the soft open will likely stop by the time the CM previews start? Leaving two weeks from today and wondering what I can expect. :goodvibes

My quick thoughts.

Beautiful themeing.

Little Mermaid Ride. Very nice better then DL IMHO

Belle's enchanted thing. I waited an hour for THAT? If you have kids to participate do it. If not skip if lines are long. Boring

Gaston'a tavern. I like the special drink, but menu is pretty weak.

Shop has china and glasses they are indicating will be at BOG. White with gold crown or Belle/Beast image. Limit 4. Some cool castle stuff too

Watched the video.. Pretty cool!! Not going to post about it since I dont want to talk about stuff in it and have spoilers..

Hi All!

DMom, DDad and I were able to get in to the Fantasyland expansion today! At about 8:30am DMom and I stopped by the entrance (near Pinocchio's) and asked if there would be a preview for Enchanted Tales with Belle. The CM replied that there were no plans but to check back.

At about 9:30am we headed back to the entrance and noticed a line about 100 people long. We decided to get in line just in case. At that point I was just hopeful to see beyond the construction wall.

At about 9:40 a manager stopped by to let us know that we may or may not get to see anything and to know that we might be standing in line for nothing.

However, DMom and I had noticed DOZENS of managers throughout MK and we knew something was up. At 9:45 we started talking to a few people in line who had heard the entire land was opening at 10!!

At 9:50 managers with hand counters came along the line and asked us to walk calmly and slowly when we were allowed into the area!

At 10 on the dot we were let it! I have a video and I'll upload it asap along with a bunch of photos.

It is absolutely breathtaking! The detail is astounding. We were among the first 20 people on The Little Mermaid. I loved it! I also had LeFou's Brew, very interesting! It was green apple with toasted marshmallow flavor and a passion-fruit foam on top.

Pictures & Video coming up!

OMG. totally! And the indoor queue and exit eliminate the hinky lighting issues they have at the DCA version. I think the clamobiles even have a better paint job.

Speaking of that queue - Wowee! It makes even the glorious PotC queue look rinky-dink by comparison!

For the soft opening - Are the shops open? Can i get new merch when i go starting on 10/21 maybe??? HOPES! IS the FOOD open at all? I hope i can get into the 11/3 AP preview!!!!! I will be on the computer monday for sure now! woooo hooooo thanks dis for the updates on the NEW fantasyland!
