Disney Fantasy Moves a Step Closer to Reality
During Keel Laying Ceremony
PAPENBURG, GERMANY (Feb. 11, 2011) Today, Disney Cruise Line celebrated the keel laying of the Disney Fantasy at the Meyer Werft shipyard. This is the second of two newly-designed ships that take the family cruise experience to all new heights. Sister ship to the Disney Fantasy, Disney Dream, entered service on Jan. 26, 2011.
The keel laying ceremony is a significant milestone in the ship building process when the first block, or section of the ship, is lowered into the building dock and a coin is placed under the keel for good fortune. Placing the coin was Karl Holz, President of Disney Cruise Line, assisted by Minnie Mouse.
The Disney Fantasy will offer many of the innovations that the Disney Dream features and brought to the cruise industry for the very first time, including AquaDuck -- the worlds first shipboard water coaster. However, the Disney Fantasy will feature a few new design elements and guest experiences that will give the ship a unique identity all her own.
The 4,000-passenger Disney Fantasy will sail week-long Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral, Fla. with its maiden voyage scheduled for March 31, 2012.

It's going to be so great watching "our" ship being built. I wonder what the unique features will be on the Fantasy.

I've read through the thread and still haven't decided to do the fish extender thing yet or not. The other two crusies we went on didn't have a big following on here so we didn't have a FE group. I think it would be fun...I just don't want to spend alot of time running all over the ship. I even made us a FE for our last cruise... Headed over to join the Facebook group. Lee Ann :)[/QUOTE said:Well, there's two fixes for us here....
1. We all change our reservations to the "suites" so we don't have to walk as far....
or, 2. We get our exercise delivering gifts so we can eat what we like and not worry about "cruise calories"For this to work, we have to be ALL over the ship!
Personally, I think we'll enjoy where our current reservation is located (we have an aft verandah), so I'll go with getting a few Mickey bars while onboard and not feeling guilty one bit!:
Just booked this cruise! It will be our families first cruise ever -- Me (49), DW (49), and 3 DDs (14, 13, 9).
