OOPS! sorry about that! I will fix that, and also add the other two families! :goodvibes

Just tell me if I ever mess it up like that, I get working tooooooooo fast and start clicking away! :rotfl:

Thanks so much for organizing this. I was worried we weren't going to have a FE exchange. Now, we even have a list. Yeah!:cheer2:

No problem! I enjoy organizing it! I have extra time everyday in school this class and a teach assistant class so I am on the computer all of class with nothing to do, so this helps fillt he time!

There will also be two more families for sure once they add disboards (hopefully soon) and they will participate. My two friends families, I explained all of this to them and they are excited too! :goodvibes

I have added a link to your cruise meet thread :cool1:

Have a great cruise!

This is going to be great :)

Jessica (me)
John (DH)
Maeve (DD 6)

We're from Rhode Island... 1st Disney Cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary in September and Maeve's 7th birthday in August...

Hi! :wave2:

Are you all interested in the FE exchange?
First Disney cruise is always the most magical! :goodvibes

Rochelle, I have a question about the FE (being that this is my first time)...is there a theme that we'll have to follow? Also, is it one gift for each individual?
I'm starting to look around for ideas and want to make sure I'm doing it right before I get too involved! :) TNX!

I've done FEs a bunch (10 cruises) & in my experience it's the most fun when there are the fewest rules...usually everyone just gives what they care to, when they care to...one per room, or one per person....delivered once during the cruise, or delivered more than once....make your own gifts, or buy something...the only one rule that should be in place is to have fun with it!!! :goodvibes

Here is a link to everything you ever wanted to know...lol

Hope this helps you decide - it's a lot of fun to give and to find surprises when you come back to your room.

In the past we have not done themes. Usually it depends on the people you cruise with. Personally I agree with dylansmom it is easier without a theme and let people make/create their own gifts. But we can decide to do one if thats what majority wants. I did love our gifts without having a theme but whatever everyone wants I am fine with. :goodvibes

I, too, think it's easier to go without a theme. In fact, a theme might limit people or even make it possible to have multiples. KWIM? :confused3
Does each family get assigned a day to deliver? I mean, we wouldn't want all the little gifts one day and nothing for the rest of the cruise! :rotfl2:

Well, personally, I vote for not adding new structures to FEs. I can't imagine having an assigned day to deliver, not knowing what I'll be doing that day and/or how busy I will be....JMO But guess I could always shoot for an assigned time.... just not sure how successful I would be in hitting it...:rotfl:

I think what I've always loved about FEs was the free-wheeling nature of it all without adding restrictions (never have had a theme to adhere to or an assigned delivery day...or a restriction on what/how to give). I guess on some cruises we have gotten the majority of FE gifts early in the cruise, but there are always those that show up later too, and I like knowing I can do my deliveries when it works for me....like half of them on the way to the spa :cloud9: ....or a few on certain decks that I've grouped, on my way to the DVC celebration, or just forward, port side one day when I am on my way to the Cove, etc., etc.

I am glad most of us agree so far. I am in charge of the FE list but Iwant it to be a group decision as far as the times, themes, gifts ect. The last cruise we did as free as we wanted and met up twice during the cruise. Once in the port before we boared and once the first day when everyone came on. My sister did spend time at the pool with the others throughout the week. I think picking specific times is a bit tough on everyone depending on dinner, activities and we are on vacation.....we dont want to be on a schedule.

Hope we can still find more families for the FE. The bigger the better! :goodvibes

I agree, I think it would be nice to keep it as open as possible. Personally, I think each cabin planning on delivering a gift to either each person or each cabin works really nicely. Leaving a theme undesignated also sounds good. That will allow everone to be creative in their own way. We already have a couple of ideas - 2 cabins - that we think will be fun. I think participating in the FE exchange will be great fun. We now need to figure out how we want to create our FE's. :cheer2:

I agree with everyone about leaving options open. I can see assigning day(s) but not times or themes. Although I think we need to wait to do any assigning until we close the FE and know how many will be involved. Has anyone thought about a deadline for allowing people to join? :confused3 I know some people do a lot of work on these and we want to make sure everyone has time to get everything put together. (6 Weeks prior to departure would be May 26th--Just a thought)

My sentiments exactly - it's vacation....the only schedule I want is my Navigator & my spa appointments...:rotfl2: Oh, and a get-together when we board would be great! I'm in for that, of course - we usually meet in promenade on the older ships - not sure where the best place is on the Fantasy, but hope to find out in the coming weeks.

I agree! It's a blast - love to see how creative everyone gets!

I agree, 6 weeks would work for me....some people start pretty early though, so maybe when we get closer we will see? I'm on the Hawaii cruise in April, and we are just now getting the FE list squared away...45 days is a bit close for comfort on this one though, mostly because it's huge!! We have 95 rooms participating!! (Fun, but scary too - so glad that for once i don't have to fly.....!) So guess it may be a wait & see on the deadline???

Glad we are mostly on the same page with the FEs so far - it's such a fun activity. The lady who started the whole thing is on my Hawai cruise -- weird how she sort of changed the world with a fun little token for her group, hanging from little lime green holders with pockets that she picked up at the dollar store.........and the rest is history!! :rolleyes1

.

Whatever the norm is, it's fine by me! :) I'm asking a lot of questions since this is new to me and I want to make sure I have all the info correctly. :teeth:
ETA: A friend of mine just returned from a Disney Cruise with her family (Western Caribbean on the Magic) and their FE group was assigned a specific day (not time, just day) to deliver the goodies. If that day didn't work for a family, they were allowed to switch with someone else. She told me that their FE group also connected with each other through FB so that they could "see" each other before the cruise.
I guess, every group has its own rules and there are no rights or wrongs. :)

Yes, we are totally interested in the FE exchange :) I know my daughter will have fun making deliveries... I already have some ideas in mind... I like the unstructured gift giving idea, too... I'm just going to give in to the spirit of giving, and enjoy and be thankful for whatever comes our way! Thanks again for coordinating...
