Fantasy - July 14, 2012

We're snorkeling with Captain Alan also! Which trip did you book? We are doing the 3 island snorkel and beach adventure. Noah is also doing the Screaming Eagle in St Thomas at 1:30.

We are doing the 4 hour 3 island snorkel trip - I wonder if it is the same. The Captain Alan's trip is the #2 excursion listed on tripadvisor for St Maartain. The one I had on hold from Disney has bad reviews so we were looking for another option.

I can't wait! I bought my stuff to make my FE hanger this afternoon, now its just time to get crafty.:rotfl2::scared1:

I bet we are together, that will be fun! Our excursion leaves at 8:45. I found it on TripAdvisor also. Two summers ago I found trip TripAdvisor and it was spot on. We stopped in Charleston for a couple of nights on our way to Port Canaveral. The hotel and walking tour we did were highly rated on trip TripAdvisor. The spear fishing excursion we are doing in Cozumel I also found on trip adviser.

I am BRAND new to the DIS boards. I have never been on a Disney Cruise before (although I have cruised). It will be me and my DW celebrating our 10th anniversary. Like clschrein, we also booked VGT and have received our room assignment - 9550 (our first time with a balcony, we are so excited!). My wife is a former castmember and we both have annual passes for Disney World so we think we will still enjoy a Disney ship even though we don't have kids. I had two questions:
1) Any suggestions for pirate night? I already have a Captain Morgan / Will Turner look going (long hair, goatee) and was wondering what I could do for an inexspensive but fun costume (I'll be checking out the consignment shops next week).
2) Is the Rain Forest part of the spa worth the extra charge? I will probably get the day pass for both of us to just try it but also saw that you can get a couple's pass for the length of the cruise.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and feel free to list the post # or thread if someone has already discussed this.

Welcome to our group and welcome to DIS! :cheer2:
Congratulations on your anniversary! We took our 1st cruise to celebrate our 10th anniversary. DH & I were just talking about that trip yesterday. It was our "once in a lifetime" vacation. We stayed concierge at the Polynesian then took a 4 night cruise on the Wonder. This summer we celebrate 25 years with back to back cruises (#8 & 9) on the Fantasy. Obviously we enjoyed that 1st trip!

I'm not much help with your questions, DH & I don't dress up for pirate night. DS did when he was younger but now at 14 that's just something he will do. We have never visited the rainforest room but it does get rave reviews. This time we are going to check it out. You can get day passes or length of cruise passes. My understanding is they have a limited number of passes.

Finished packing the family suitcases tonight. Only thing left is organize the electronics, cameras, etc. Leaving Tuesday night. It will be interesting concentrating on work the next couple of days. I hope they have heard of dress down Mondays. I have got to practice the resort look after all.

Jealous! Leaving Tuesday sounds wonderful! We don't leave until the 12th. I'm pulling out the suitcases today.

I have loved reading all of your great advice and suggestions. This has been a wonderful way to get the ins and outs of how to pack, and make things work for my first Disney Cruise. I am late getting on the boards since I didn't know I could get on as I am a guest of Meemous on this trip but have taken on the duty of the FE gifts and making the FE extenders which was so much fun. I am looking forward to seeing all of you and having some much needed fun this summer. It sure has been hot this summer all over the country and looking forward to some Carribean breezes.

I have packed but need morre room may retry and do the rolling and see if that helps me out.

Just checking to make sure I didn't miss it but did we ever get names for Disneysunflower??

lovinnemo - I am a recent convert to rolling for packing. Last summer there was a thread on the boards about packing cubes and how much space they save. Skeptical I purchased some. Wow!! I've never had so much room! I got a different color set for each of us and when we arrived at our destination I handed DH & DS their bags and that was it. I didn't hear any "where's my ____?" Rolling is definitely the way to go, it takes a little more time but worth it in the end.

Noahsmom, Thank you for the kind reply. Congratulations on your 25th anniversary! How was the Polynesian? We've never actually stayed there before.

Movie Listing for the Cruise SPOILERS AHEAD...

If you don't want to know what is playing on the ship then quit reading now (although, I'm not entirely sure why that would be the case).
Toy Story 3 in 3D
Tangled in 3D
Cars 2 in 3D
The Help
People Like Us
The Muppets
War Horse
Chimpanzee
The Avengers
Brave in 3D and 2D

END SPOILER ALERT :goodvibes

Thanks for the movie list, Webbed Feet.

Going to start organizing and packing DD this week as she requires more than just shorts and shirts and a swimsuit!!!!

I started a packing list last night, DH has more clothes on it than I do! We got into a debate over whether he should take 3 or 4 golf shirts. I say 3. I also informed both DH & DS that neither of them is allowed to take a tshirt from my work. Last summer they both had them and there isn't one day when at least one of them wasn't wearing it. Seriously - I'm on vacation I don't need to look at one of them and see my work's logo!!

Off to work now - not many more days, only 4.5 if you don't count today!

I know this has been on here somewhere before but will ask anyway...my husband's balking at having to take an entire suit for formal nite. Is it ok/do many men just wear shirt and tie/suit pants and NO suit jacket? (We won't be doing Palo orRemy)

My husband is taking a suit or a jacket and pants (have not decided for sure and really does not effect packing space) for formal night but that is likely because I am wearing a long gown. I figure he needs 4 golf shirts even though he will only be wearing them for a few hours at dinner. He has agreed to dress for pirate night so now I will not be alone. My kids will not be as well dressed as I will not purchase dress clothes they only wear once and then grow out of. My bigger issue is shoes and how to not take too many. Jet blue lets us each take one bag for free and I just may take advantage of this as my FE gifts take up quite a bit of space.

I re-packed by rolling and it worked great, thanks so much.

Also thanks for the movie list there are actually a few I haven't seen yet.

I have tried to find more info for the cruise but being such a rookie I keep hitting walls. Thanks so much for sharing.

It's getting so close, I'm getting so excited that I have to keep focused on the things I have to finish here at work. I am a manager of a country clubs aquatic facilities and I have to finish up a few big events I have to oversee.
The 4th of July party at the pool Wednesday, a big Movie night at the pool Friday and my Swim Teams Summer Championships on Tuesday then it is nothing but Cruise time.:banana::banana:
I am so ready but keep the info coming.

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks

Meemous is shipping our FE gifts so we don't have to worry about packing them. I don't think we would have room. And I understand the shoe problem, I have more than I need but can't leave them behind.

I shipped my FE gifts once and it worked well. As for shoes, keep it simple! Everyone is on vacation. But I'm not a shoe person so it's easy for me to underpack those.

lovinnemo - one other tip I learned from the boards is an over the door shoe hanger. Great for collecting all the "little" things. It's where we put our sun tan lotion, toothpaste, shaving stuff - pretty much everything but shoes. We hang it over one of the bathroom doors, facing out, so if someone is in the shower we can still access the stuff. You can get them pretty cheap at a dollar store or Wal-Mart. It's one of those items that just stays in the suitcase.

I also just purchased a pop-up laundry basket from Target. My guys aren't the best of putting dirty clothes in a bag so I'm hoping this will help.

I read those ideas but wasn"t sure if they were worth getting, good to know think I will try it. Thanks

We usually fly JetBlue, but this time it is SW. Their allotment of 2 bags/person is giving us the one extra bag needed. DW is making good use of shoe space. Remember, in addition to the cruise we have 10 days in WDW to pack for too!
