Fantasy February 16, 2013 - 7 Night Western Cruise Meet

I checked a couple of weeks ago and our category for the 3 of us has gone up a total of $1700 and the categ has been guarantee only for a while now.

We don't usually get insurance but we did for our last cruise, quite by mistake though. I didn't realize I purchased it when I booked the cruise and then never cancelled it. We always fly down a day early as well.

DS asks about a Disney cruise every couple of days, he doesn't know we have one booked, and I'm really hoping we can keep it a secret. He's practically begging to go. So excited but it's so far away :rolleyes1
On our first DC we didn't tell my daughters. We went on the magic in early December (beautifully decorated for Christmas/holidays) I packed the kids stuff up, woke them up that morning told them we had a surprise for them (they didn't know anything) we drove to the airport and got on the plane...that alone had them crazy with excitement we then went to port. Inside the port my kids still didn't know what was going on but they were admiring the model of the ship in the middle of the room. I said to my girls, wow thats a pretty nice model ship and they agreed. "Guess what girls, this is the surprise...we are going on the Disney Cruise". They were crying because they were so happy. Of all the vacations I've ever been on, our first DC was the most memorable... my husband and I shed so many tears because our daughters reactions to everything was so special. Imagine waking your children up and them not having a idea we had a vacation planned. We went from our NYC home to FLA all the way to the ship and they didn't know till they were stepping on the boat. Reaction was priceless!!!

I LOVE these stories! Brings tears to my eyes! I'm still not sure yet just how we're going to surprise him. Would love to time it just like you, but I know he'll guess that's where we are going. The only time he has flown was for a cruise or Disney. Still have plenty of time to figure it out!

We are trying to keep it a secret from our kids... we are thinking of telling them christmas morning after they wonder why they have less presents I have the Disney Automated Mickey call set to call my cell on Christmas morning and have "Boarding passes" made from another thread and will wrap them up along with the Fish Extender my wife is making...

Haven't bought trip insurance in a while.. still wainting for Jetblue to relase the next set 2 weeks ago they opened up until Feb 13..

I also spoke to DCL last night our cat is now $2500 more than what we are paying..

I need my Disney Fix.. oh wait I can say this now
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: "I going to Disney World next Month" :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

We surprised our daughter with our first cruise. We had her open our shirts on her birthday. The look on her face was priceless when she opened them and it registered. It was super hard to research and talk about it as we were excited. I was so afraid we would spill the beans before her birthday since we booked it 6 months prior. We picked this cruise together and did not do it as a surprise.

Wow! Nobody posted on this thread all week!!!??? Where is everyone?

Well...I usually have crazy nightmares about our cruise vacations. They usually don't start until a month or two before the cruise, but I had one last night already. I packed "everything" for the cruise. We went to the airport, hopped on the plane, got to Florida, boarded the ship and then I realized I left a whole bunch of stuff at home. I left FE gifts (even though we're not participating in this FE exchange), I left my camera, our phone chargers, bathing suits. I was devastated!!! Thank goodness that was only a dream. Seeing as I usually take over 1,000 pictures on vacation, leaving the camera home was a BIG OOPS!

Well...I'm off to a meeting and three birthday parties today....everyone have a great day!!! :thumbsup2

I used to love to go on daily runs until I was 30. I will be 50 when we cruise. I decided that I want to run in the Castaway Cay 5 K! It looks like it would be fun and I would get to see the island! going on my first training run this morning.
Has anyone in our group done this or are planning to run this cruise?
Have a great weekend!!!

Rob

I think there are a few people on here that were talking about running in that. I'm TRYING to work myself up to being able to do it. (I've NEVER been a runner). But, we'll see.

Ok, so I'm going to try to get the conversation going again on here:

For those of you who have cruised before, where is your favorite spot to hang out during the Sail Away Party?

I am just starting to get back into running after an injury. I am planning (hoping) on trying to do the 5k then.

It rained on our last one so we didn't get to do it outside. I am excited about trying deck 12 in September. Anybody have any must try spots.

I also would like to get back to our balcony on this cruise since its aft.

I am NOT a runner barring someone chasing me with an axe or something. That said, I will be giving the 5K a try this cruise since a few people in the group overtaking deck 9 aft have decided to give it a whirl. Why not.

Skyline Lounge with my second Paris 75 martini in hand

I'm not a runner but have been considering giving it a try. We'll see.

We usually spend sail away on our balcony and probably will this time as well. We're on the aft.

I have thought of doing the 5K but don't want to waste my CC day as far as the sail away we may start on deck them move to our balcony

Wherever my DisPeeps are! :thumbsup2

Oooh, positive peer pressure! Nice!

In my cruise-planning-news, I didn't take nearly enough pics on our last trip. I just didn't want to lug my heavy camera around. It takes great pics, but I didn't want it hanging on me all the time. So, I've finally (I've been looking since January) chosen my next camera. It's one of Canon's new cameras. It's got tons of features, reportedly takes great pics and it will fit in a pocket! Now to set aside the money to pay for it! :rolleyes1

Aaawww! I like that :goodvibes Four of your DISpeeps are usually at Skyline but I'm sure we will want to be with the rest of the DISpeeps on this cruise :grouphug: I think I will have to come up with a DISpeep-Tini for sailaway.

Do tell ... what kind is it???? :confused3 I like Canon cameras and could use a less bulky one!

Skyline or just on the deck outside Skyline sounds perfect to me! The Sailaway Party is fun, but a bit crowded for my tastes.

I'm looking at the Powershot SX260 HS. Reviews have mentioned a whine in the audio when playing back video recording. But, I'm not planning on taking much, if any, video with it. And in a pinch I can always use my iPhone to record video. I just want a good solid picture taking camera. :thumbsup2
