**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

However we will be at the 400 [day] mark tomorrow...

Time will pass slowly for the next 12 months and then the last few weeks will go by so quick it'll seem like we don't have to time to pack and get ready before we sail.

Isn't it great?!:cool1:

Jenny, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. So young and such a short time between diagnosis and end of life. I am sure it was a beautiful celebration. My friend died earlier this year from breast cancer at 38. It has taught me to "eat life with a big spoon" as she would say and enjoy every second. I am sending lots of hugs and prayers your way.

I just wanted to say thanks for the condolences. I missed your post earlier. It was a nice celebration (if not really sad and painful, too :guilty:) but I'm trying to just remember her laugh, treasure the memories of her, and thank God that she is with Him now.

I hope your life slows down a bit and you truly do get to focus on fun for a while! It sounds like you've had more than your share of trials lately!

Can you believe it - we are getting snow here today.:scared1:

Makes me even more excited for you May trip to Disney World. Toying with the idea of adding a Disney waterpark day. Have any of you even been to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? Which do you suggest?

Time to go dig out my parka again - i hope it is short lived.

Everyone have a fantastic weekend.:cheer2:

Bummer about the snow. If it helps, The cruise is just 400 days away. I remember when we hit the 500 mark. It will be here before you know it.

I too missed some posts, I wanted to let you both know that I sent a prayer up for you and your friends families, Tony just lost a co-worker just a week ago, she had been on the Disney cruise a few years prior to us and let us look at her movie, her photos and gave Tony a DCL winner baseball cap she had won on her cruise, this one hit him hard, so lots of prayers! And sorry so late!

Didn't you just post about the sun? Lol you must live in Missouri! It was 90 degrees on a sat and 35 on sun of last week! Crazy! My vote is Typhoon lagoon, it has been a few years but I liked it better than blizzard beach. On the last non cruise trip we spent sun-sat and did mk, epcot, blizzard,ak,hs,mk and were going to tl on the last sat and got rained out never again will we do that much in so little of time and it was in June! Crazy!:rolleyes1

Yesterday was my sister's birthday and also "Gotcha Day" - this is the day my sister traveled to Guatemala to bring home my niece. My mom and I went with her; it was an incredible experience! It's pretty cool that God united my sister with her daughter on her birthday! Anyway, tonight, my mom and I managed to surprise her with a dinner at a Japanese steakhouse in Columbus. Our cousin (more like another sister though) and her family joined us for dinner. My cousin's family often joins us for Disney trips, though they can't cruise with us. It was a fun surprise and a nice break from the tougher stuff that's happened lately. Since the group was comprised of the people we often go to Disney with (our mom and, like I said, my cousin's family) AND we were at a Japanese Steakhouse (we LOVE Teppan Edo in Epcot), it felt like a mini Disney trip! Then we bopped over to the Disney store to do a little shopping - Hannah got a new Belle dress from her mommy for Gotcha Day, a new Tiana swimsuit and Rapunzel playset from her Tia (me), and lots of love from her Bubba (my mom - she couldn't say Grandma when she was little, and the name stuck). It was a great night! Here are some pics of the night:

Hope you don't mind my sharing them. It's nice to have something fun to mention and feel happy about! I tried forever to get them smaller and had no such luck - sorry! :confused3 I'm generally computer-savvy, but even when I shrink the size on photobucket, they post at this size. If anyone knows how to get them smaller, share with me so I can take up less bandwidth when you're viewing the thread!

I hope everyone's doing well - we're almost to 13 months away from the cruise! :)

Thanks for sharing :cool1:. Things like this help us to get to know one another a little bit more :grouphug:.

Hi all, we are just off a back 2 back on the Dream where we booked on this cruise :cool1: We will be cruising with myself, DH, DS (8) and DS(3). I haven't caught up on all the posts yet, but will soon. Can't wait for our next cruise!

Welcome! My son, Joey, is 8 too... Looks like we have a few in their age group for this trip! We can't wait!!!!

We have warmed up and started to "cook" here in Austin! We hit 90 over the weekend and me and kids burned to a crisp at the pool. So stupid -- I do this every April. At least now I am armed with SPF50 and ready to take on the rest of the spring/summer.

I am impressed that you are coaching two soccer teams! Did you play as a kid? I wouldn't even know where to start! I am glad you will get outside and enjoy the outdoors. Nothing like some fresh air and sun to make you feel like a kid again.

Haha-- I know how that goes too! When we went on our Feb. cruise, I DID load on the SPF with the kids, but they burned anyway!!! Of course, the fact that they were swimming like fish for 4 and 5 hours straight may have had a *little* to do with that!

As far as coaching... No, I didn't, lol :) I was a softball girl through and through, but the first year we tried t-ball with our older one, it was just too much standing around for him... When he was playing outfield and the pitcher got the ball, he ran in and tackled him for it :) We decided we needed something a bit more active :) So now he's about 5 years into soccer and getting ready for travel team and loves it!

All that said-- WE HAVEN'T HAD A SINGLE PRACTICE YET!!!!! The next day, it started to rain and hasn't really stopped enough for the fields to be green flagged :confused3 Hoping for some field time this week though b/c we're all getting cabin fever!!!!! :)

Continue to share! That's what this thread is for....sharing and caring, and meeting and greeting. I agree that it helps us get to know one another better.

I have had the same issues with re-sizing in Photobucket. My rule of thumb is if page one isn't TOO PAINFUL to load, where there is a gazillion pics....then your 'large' pic on page 8 of the thread will not even cause anyone to blink!

Sounds like you had a great time with family. Looking forward to more updates from everyone.

OK, all of you DVC members in our group....I'm really entertaining the idea of jumping on the bandwagon. I just don't know enough about it, even after going to the seminar (which we will do on the Fantasy) last time we were on the Magic.

We have done a Disney trip every other year that we have been married (22 years in May) save for one ill-advised detour to Universal instead:rotfl:

So any regrets?
Has the program changed in any way since you signed up?
Do you continue to pursue new points?
Do you have enough points to be worthwhile, or do you have to supplement with cash for your reservations?

The more information you can share the better.

CONVINCE ME that I should consider this!

Hello Everyone,
We are excited to be joining everyone on this cruise. We were originally booked on the Western the week before but had to jump ship due to our dd's school schedules. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. Our cast of characters includes:
myself Shana (41)* ages at time of cruise
Dh Everton (42)
dd Tyrah (13)
dd Jaya (12)
and our surprise little princess Nya who will be approx 9 months when we cruise, she is due in August:lovestruc!!!

So any regrets? NONE AT ALL!!!
Has the program changed in any way since you signed up? Not that I can think of. I think something with the 11-month and 7-month booking windows but it's nothing that's negatively affected us or our ability to go whenever and wherever we want.
Do you continue to pursue new points? I'm not sure what you mean by this, but my sister is the DVC owner. She bought on our 2005 cruise on the Magic, 150 points with Saratoga Springs. Then, in 2008, I think it was, she bought on another 100 at AKL. We've stayed at both. We'd (I saw we because, though she's the owner, I'm the associate on the account and do the bulk of the planning) consider adding on in the Epcot area resorts, but that hasn't happened yet.
Do you have enough points to be worthwhile, or do you have to supplement with cash for your reservations? We don't cruise on points, so that's one thing. It's not a good use of our points for us. We've paid for one trip on cash since she bought in in 2005, and that was last summer for a 4 night trip to POR so we could see the Summer Nightastic stuff (this was in between a surprise trip she took me on for my 30th birthday and the trip we took over the past holiday season).

We've taken 7 trips in since 2005 on points (and a 4 night trip planned for this October for MNSSHP). We combined points with my cousin (who you saw above) for this past 11 night trip to Disney because we did a grand villa at AKL, and that's mucho points! It was worth it though. :cloud9: We've been able to go far more often since having the points and have taken several family members with us, so it's a purchase that was made and has been a blessing far and away.

The more information you can share the better.

CONVINCE ME that I should consider this! I guess it depends on how often you want to go to Disney. We never imagined we'd go so often, but it's so fun to be able to go regularly. We've even taken 3 trips that were upwards of 10 days - June 2007, May 2009, and then this past Dec/Jan 2010-2011 trip. Those are heavenly - it really lets you savor the trip and take your time. The longer trips let me plan the slower pace, too! :) Sometimes you have to be choosy for the longer trips, though. In 2007 and 2009, we stayed at Old Key West, which we actually really like. You park right in front of your room - SOO nice. It's also quiet and, since we had our own car on those trips, not inconvenient at all to get to the parks. We couldn't have stayed at Boardwalk, for example, for that long that time of year. And we had a one-bedroom, too, so that was a blessing to have the extra space.

We are borrowers a lot of the time; we usually borrow from the next use year to help fund this year's trip. We don't borrow so much, though, that there's next left to use next year when we go next year. We just might need to supplement with borrowed points. We rarely bank! ;) We love Disney too much.

We also like that this gives us a way to stay at different resorts "for free." We've only not been to VWL, Vero Beach, and HH since being owners. Each has its own feel, flair, and ambiance, and we like them all very much (some for location, others for the atmosphere, etc.).

Good to see you back here Barb! So, tell me how we can get others that are on that 'other' cruising blog to join us on the far superior Disboards??? I've tried to figure out how to send messages to users on that other blog (klbrabec, chezcarp, Leslie41, georgemoe, GeorgiaBlue, Case1096), and found that 'georgemoe' is a user on these boards, so I've reached out and asked that they come and check in on our meet....but I don't know how to send messages to the other users. Any input? I'm not an established user on the other board, so maybe that is preventing me from sending messages?
