**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

Sorry to confuse, guys. My husband isn't military, he's doing a one year tour in Kabul at the embassy there. He is responsible for the security of the American personnel at the embassy and civilians in various posts. His service is the Diplomatic Security Service. Not many people have heard of it, so I usually save the explanations for in person but I don't want people to He works with the military, but (sadly for me :rotfl:) no uniform, though he is a Federal officer. I too admire all the servicemen and women who spend a whole year apart from their families for their tours of duty, at least my husband gets a break...this trip will be his 6 month R&R.

And thanks so much for all the generous well wishes and thought last weekend. In Kabul they actually expect a fair bit of that, but it makes for a long day when it does happen.

So I guess that answers the occupation question for him. I'm a diplomat too, and currently posted in Prague, which is beautiful. Nonetheless, we're looking forward to some "home time."

Can I ask all you more experienced cruisers for some advice? We are doing B2B cruises, the first to get "reacquainted" with just our little family of four, the second we are adding three grandparents and one great grandparent. We have not sailed out of Port Canaveral yet and I was wondering if it is pretty easy to link up at the model ship (or elsewhere) inside the embarkation area? Between cruises we have to disembark and re-embark and we thought it would be nice to link up with the grands and board together, but I'm not familiar with the logistics of boarding there.

What do you suggest? :confused3

Still a brave and important job! Glad he's okay! And very jealous about Prague! It's on my bucket list!!!

Trying to play catch-up :)

I'm Brandi....mom2lln....Mom to Lauren, Leslie, and Nicholas.

My girls compete in gymnastics and keep us on the road at least 3 weekends out of the month. They compete for State the first weekend in May and then we will have a break until June. Nicholas turns 5 May 2nd....WOW, where has the time gone?!?!?!

I'm a SAHM/Math tutor. I taught Middle Grades Math for several years, before becoming a SAHM. My hubby is an ICU Supervisor.

The children get out of school on the 18th, Nicholas graduates pre-K that morning and we are driving down afterwards.:banana:

As far as the FE exchange, are we gifting each room or was the list split?

Brandi:

The FE list is split down the middle. Spreadsheet is here and this link SHOULD go to the second tab that shows the two groups.

The list was split down the middle, the dividing line I believe is between Sourgrapes and donaldsgal. I think some people plan on giving something to everyone - ambitious! :thumbsup2

I have a question, was anything ever decided about bracelets and t-shirts? I know people have been really busy. I get tired just reading what all people are doing :rotfl:

I was wondering the same thing. I was HOPING that we'd do bracelets so that we would recognize each other on board and during excursions. Probably still have time if someone wants to do it. I will pitch in up front money via Paypal if someone takes the lead on it.

We did a B2B on the Dream last year. When you disembark, they will have you go back up to the terminal and sign in for your 2nd cruise. The area reserved for platinum/concierge guest is also the area for B2B cruisers. B2B cruisers are "snuck-in" through the side door as soon as the ship is ready, before any other guest are allowed to board. We had the aquaduck all to our selves (plus the few other B2B families) for more than a hour before other guest were allowed on the ship. :)

Thank you for posting a link to the spreadsheet :)

I'm interested in ordering bracelets and/or t-shirts.

Your DH is still doing an important and dangerous job. Glad he's OK and can't wait to meet you all.

Just wanted to let everyone know.... One month 2 days left!!! Wohhoooo!!!
Also, bracelets/tshirts are good with me. It would be nice to be able to distinguish the dis cruises from the regular cruisers! :)

Wow today is the first day in 4 days that I have been able to get onto the DIS the website wouldn't even load for me at all. I'm guessing it was due to the server upgrades.

Really bummed out. DCL told my Travel Agent that our Cruise Docs were mailed out on April 4th. Its now April 17th. No Documents. 13 days to go 12 minutes away and now they are lost. So DCL is now having to ship them to my TA who is in NY so that she can Fedex them to us here in Florida. OH and my TA is in the hospital on Bedrest trying to keep her twins from being born too early. So her DH is trying to handle his job, and do her TA errands for her. She is working at little spurts when she can to keep up with her work.

Totally unnecessary they could have held them at the office in Celebration and I could just go pick them up but they didn't like that suggestion when my TA made it.

Bracelets/Shirts unfortunately we won't be able to partake in them but they sound cool.

Just finding this board for the first time! - My family and I will be on the concierge deck - but I forget our room number!...We are in a 1 bedroom suite with my parents! We are so excited.

Hey friends:
In reading the maiden voyage report (link posted a few pages back here.. thanks Jaymepops!), did you notice all the MV gifts they received. It made me wonder what, if any, price premium is paid on MV fares. I never thought of pulling up the prices when it first came out. Anyone out there do that?

Hi all,

I know I'm not as active in here as I should be. Just popping to say I am shopping for FE gifts this coming weekend and also to share the news that I recieved my cruise documents in the mail! With luggage tags! :cool1::cool1:

Has any one else gotten theirs yet?

My 8 year old is a gymnast, she is going to start competing next season. My 11 year old has been doing competitive cheerleading since she was 5 years old so we have done alot of travelling also! :thumbsup2

See you soon! Not much longer :)

Welcome! :yay::yay::cheer2::cheer2::wave2:

This is a great group, I can't wait to meet everyone.
I would love to give FE's to everyone on the list. But I will probably be doing good to get them done for my group. :hourglass: Panic is setting in, especially when I realized I have one week less than the countdown to get FE's done and time is getting short :crazy2:
We will be staying with family in Orlando visiting and going to Disney World of course!! :cheer2:princess::yay: pixiedust:
