**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

I just placed a pre-order for the newest passporters guide for DCL due out April 10th!! Yay! Anyone else picking this up?
I have last years version (9th edition) and it is a great book. I'm not going to reorder just yet because it covers the ports we are visiting. OT, my birthday is April 10th....
I also have the passporter pass holder that I wear around my neck at the airport, and at WDW to hold my passes and room key.

In case anyone is flyng in the night before, staying at the Orlando airport Hyatt and would like to take a few "adult" :rotfl2: beverages on board, I read on another DIS cruise board thread that this place http://www.abcfws.com/ delivers to The Hyatt :woohoo:.

I've got some questions for any experienced cruisers who may know:

1. Are towels provided on Castaway Cay?
2. We are taking Bernards tours in St.Maartin and are going to the beach during the excursion. Can we bring room towels? or Do we have to bring our own?
3. Can we bring bottled water and packaged snacks off the ship at the ports?
4. Can we bring packaged foods and bottled water back on the ship at the ports?
5. Does Disney take our passports during the cruise or do we hold on to them?

I'm sure I've read some of the answers somewhere before, but my mind is drawing a blank right now.
I'm trying to get things organized and can't believe we're only about 2 months away!

Thanks! :)

Yes, Towels are provided when you get off the ship.

3. Can we bring bottled water and packaged snacks off the ship at the ports?

Packaged yes, as far as I know it has to be closed/unopened but would love confirmation on that part of it myself.

4. Can we bring packaged foods and bottled water back on the ship at the ports?

I believe as long as its unopened you can bring it onboard. Also looking for confirmation on this we haven't gotten off for ports of call in quite a while since we were doing the 4 day cruises and once seeing Nassau was enough for us.

5. Does Disney take our passports during the cruise or do we hold on to them?

For those who are US citizens no you keep your Passport. I am not sure if that is different for those traveling from other countries or with citizenship from outside the US.

Thank you for asking these questions it will help refresh my memory as well.

Thank-you 'LivingtheWDWdream' for your answers.
Hopefully we can get confirmation of the packaged food and someone can answer #2.

I have one more question too:
6. Is a stepstool available for my youngest DD to use at the bathroom sink in our stateroom so she can reach the water and brush her teeth at the right level?

Thanks again!

1. Towels are available on Castaway Cay right after you get off of the ship. And they will have a collection receptacle for used towels in the same area when you return to the ship.

2. I thought towels were available for guests to grab on their way off the ship (before leaving, not on land) at other ports.

3&4. I believe only unopened packages & beverages can be carried on/off the ship. I do remember seeing crew members selling water bottles and "kits" with water in a carrying case; however, others who have used this may be better able to address these questions.

5. Disney does not take your passports. You show them at the check-in desk. It is generally recommended to use the room safe to keep valuables in when not using them (wallet, passport, etc). Disney requires photo ID for anyone over 18 to be shown to reboard so you always need to carry ID, altho they do not specify passport. Personally, I recommend carrying your passports whenever you leave the ship (except Castaway Cay) b/c you never know what can happen, and it is best to have your passport if you are in an accident, have to visit a hospital or get stranded somewhere.

SS that I have been out of touch w/ the Disboards over the past few weeks, due to finishing my 9th & 10th cruises so I will be Platinum for this trip! :cool1:

I also completed the Princess 5K race with my best time (walking....and I did it averaging the required 16 min/mile :cheer2: I will be WALKING every morning around the deck, and am thinking about doing the 5K on CC, but waiting to find out from others who have done it, whether I can walk it!

And, I recently started a new job (after being unemployed for over 6 months), so a little busy! and unable to participate in the FE.

Looking forward to meeting up with all of you!:grouphug:

We bought one of these coolers with the ice and water in them on CC. We didn't have to send it through the xray machine or open the bag when getting back on the ship because we bought it from DCL. I just walked through the metal detector with it. We had a couple bottles that had been open in it. But, my DH beer can in the bag set the detector off and I had to throw it away.

Congrats on the new job and of course being Platinum.:thumbsup2 I'm not sure we will ever reach that level but I can always dream.

I keep checking in on Palo openings, but I noticed just now that there is an opening at Remy at 6:30 on day 2 if anyone is watching for that!

'carouselkr' Thank-you for the info in response to my questions.

Congrats on the new job :woohoo: and on Platinum status!

I think I've read somewhere that you can walk the 5K on CC, that its a route open to all, not just runners.
I've also tossed around the idea of participating too. I can probably jog for small spurts, but mostly walk because I'm out of practice.
Maybe we can set up a specific time/place for any DIS'ers to meet, so we can have company if we decide to participate. Something informal, so if we decide to do it, Great!, if not, that's ok too. I wouldn't want to commit ahead of time since I have no idea how things will be (kids, wake-up times, etc) since it is our first cruise.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to All of you!

I was tempted to book that Remy opening but we have it on Pirate night and I think missing the movie will be a better Idea then maybe missing one of the new stage shows. I wish we could find out what the show order will be so that I know what to plan for what nights etc.

Check out this thread firm the main cruise board - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2895435
he is currently on a preview cruise for the Eastern Intenerary, and has posted a schedule for the week. I guess ours will probably be about the same.

If you can walk the CC 5K, I might be up for that. I'll sprint in a softball game but don't do distance.

I hope everyone had a good St Patrick's Day and stayed safe. See everyone in a couple of months. We're getting close!!!

Oh its getting so close and we're getting so excited. Curious if anyone has been able to snag a cabana since the official booking date? I would really love to have one and I keep checking, but nothing available.

Thanks, Bryan! I had a note in my phone to check this after the first official Eastern cruise to make sure we were happy with when we've planned evening activities around shows, but now I won't need to worry about remembering that. Go you! :)

Keep in mind that these early preview cruises may not be following the same dining/show schedule that the official cruises will use. They are testing things out to see what the best flow and line ups will be, and to see what works and what doesn't so use it as a guide but in case things changes keep an eye on cruises that start after the preview cruises end. I think the ones in April will be a better set to look at because previews and the inagural cruise will be over with.

I would love a cabana but none have popped up and the price also keeps it out of our reach! I am hoping once we get on board though we'll be able to change our Palo Dinner, and maybe add a brunch but I have a feeling one or both of those won't happen.

I wasn't really planning to stop looking... I just meant it was nice to have an idea earlier on. I'm still hopeful about Palo brunch. I think it can still happen, given what I've read on other threads from experienced cruisers who were on fuller sailings.
