Fantasy- 7 night Western- August 4, 2012

Okay, the truth is that the excitement and planning of the cruise have been replaced by Shades of Grey. OMG! Is anybody else reading it? My marriage benefits the most from my latest reading selection.

No but I heard its steamy. Our paper had a article on these books and called it mommy p--n. DH said now I know why you read those romance books

Hi -

I didn't see an PM's hit my box, so I thought I'd put out another request for a shipmate for my DD9 that she could get to know before we sail! She's gets along well with girls or boys, so either would be great!

We'd like to get a few Skype calls in during our wait so the kids could get to know each other.

Let us know!

Thanks.

Ben, Jenny, and Lily

Hello Cruisemates,

So sorry to have been absent!

Thank you WhenUWishUponA5tar & KarrieMouse for your offer to see if your DDs might be interested in emailing my DD before the cruise. She is a great kid, just takes her a bit to warm up. I'll PM you her email address.

We paid in full and checked in a few weeks back. Whew! I had such anxiety over getting the dinner reservations we wanted- but we got them all. DH is most interested in quality food so Remy was a must. He has no problem bringing his tux, but no interest in dressing up for Pirate night ha!
Seems like most of us got what we most wanted - yay!

Sadly I am going to withdraw from the FE. Crazy busy, unexpected summer expences and time slipping away makes me think I should reduce where possible. I'm very sorry and hope another family steps in to replace us for those who have already started. again, apologies.

SunshineMinnie - we are neigbhors- we live in Lawrence!

I'll do better checking in, hope all is well with everyone and those with kiddos are surviving the end of the school year activities. Off to pick up DD from first round of finals: latin & algebra agh don't envy her ha ha!

take care all,
nancy

Bbaltes--

I have a DS(9) who turns 10 right before the cruise. He will enter 4th grade in the fall.
He plays with the girls in our neighborhood who are around his age. He is a sporty little guy, this summer he's participating in baseball, swim team & jr golf league. He also likes all of those popular tween shows (you know, Victorious, Good Luck Charlie, iCarly, etc).

I see you're from WI. He is a die hard Iowa Hawkeye fan, so maybe that would give them something to talk (argue) about.

It would be nice if he knew someone to check out the kids club with that first night. He is nervous about it, as big brother will be in the Edge this time.

I am hoping to find some buddies for both boys to ease any nerves about making friends on the cruise.

Any DWTS fans???? The finale was the best! Donald Driver so deserved
that mirror ball. I loved his freestyle. Now, DWTS it is done; what is Donald doing? He and his family are going on a Disney Cruise!

SunshineMinnie - we are neigbhors- we live in Lawrence!

So.... we have some Jayhawks amongst us? :cheer2: (What the heck is a Jayhawk anyhow and what do Rock Chalk mean?) We are Wildcat fans but always root for KU if they aren't playing us!

I am soooo happy that summer is here! We are heading out to the lake this afternoon for some camping, fishing and boating. I LOVE having the kiddos home and I LOVE summer chillin and having fun. Although June and part of July are a little crazy, it's a fun crazy!

What is everyone doing for Memorial day weekend?

The cruise is definitely within site. It will be the perfect end to a fun summer.

Take care all and have a safe and fabulous weekend!:goodvibes

One more week and I'll be home from OSU for the summer!!!! :cool1:

Heres hoping everyone has a spectacular Memorial Day weekend!!

-Matt

Hi - I sent you a PM with our contact info. Hope to hear from you soon!

I am worried about getting burned on this trip. I am very fair skinned. I just ordered 2 long sleeve rashquard shirts. I hope these work and are not to hot.

I was looking through some random dis threads and I think I saw something about an 18-21 year old group on the cruise. Does anyone know if there is any validity to this?:confused3 It would be very nice to be able to meet up with other college age people on the cruise rather than be bored out of my mind! lol :thumbsup2

So again I pose the questions: Does anyone know any 18-21 year olds that will be on the cruise? Does anyone know if an 18-21 year old group exists on the cruise? :thanks:Thanks!

(P.S It was record breaking heat this weekend in Columbus and I'm have the time of my life in my no air conditioning dorm room!) :furious:

So has everybody paid in full now?? Congratulations and I hope everyone got the excursions they were hoping for.

Hi Siobhan and :welcome: to the cruise!! If you could send me a pm (or email me at karen@bracegirdle.uk.net) with your stateroom number, names, favourite characters and your email address I'll add you to the list and email it out to you.

AStamm, sorry you won't be with us but  on your DH joining you!

stacyk9, can't wait to see what you are making! I've started my FE plans and shopping. :yay:.

bbaltes, sorry my DDs are much older and DD13 has always thought that she was as old as Sophie!!

Nancy, sorry to lose you from the FE, hope you have a good but crazy summer.

Matt, I've heard rumours of an 18-21 group, but nothing definite. DD Sophie is 18 - drop her a pm and chat before the cruise! (But don't worry if she doesn't reply quickly as she's currently in the middle of exams. :headache: )

Well the big news here is that Sophie has had all her university interviews, and made a decision, in September she'll be going to Birmingham Institute of Art and Design to start an Art Foundation course. Whew, so glad the decision is made but now I have to get used to the idea of her leaving home... :sad1:

After many hours of discussion, my DH & I have decided to switch to this cruise from the Eastern the following week. Our DD will be starting high school in the fall. She is a pretty good field hockey player & would miss the first 3 & most important days of field hockey practice for the high school team. Instead of jeopardizing her chances, we decided to move our cruise up a week. Since I haven't had time to read the whole thread yet, can someone give me a brief summary? I promise I'll catch up this weekend!

Debbie

Welcome aboard! Here is a very brief summary. I think most of us have scheduled excursions and adult dining. There is a FE, sorry I don't have the details.

Hi Debbie and :welcome: to the cruise!! I have volunteered to organise the Fish Extender, at present we have 9 family groups taking part:

familytravel
Ramule
karriemouse
Sunshineminnie
IceSk8ersMom
WhenUWishUponA5tar

sthissell
GW45

If you want to join in please either pm me or email me at karen@bracegirdle.uk.net and I'll add you to the list.

Need to go to sleep now - very excited as the Olympic Torch is coming past the girls school tomorrow, so there is a big event on which we're all going to - only problem is it's at 6 in the morning so we need to be up and out at 5am!!! I only usually see that time when we're flying to Disney! :rotfl:

Got a question about one of the excursions. I booked the Boatswain excursion for the day we're in Grand Cayman. The excursion begins at 10:30, but the ship doesn't dock until 10:45. Do you think tthis will be an issue? Also, the end of the excursion is at 4:30 and we have to be back on the ship by 4:45. Is this cutting it too close?

If you booked through DCL, I would think it would have to work. If you booked on your own, I don't think it will work.

I have a son who is 6 and is looking for someone to meet up with on the cruise. It would probably just be once or twice when he might want to hang out in the kids clubs.

Hi there -- kind of late to the party, but not too late! We just booked the 8/4 cruise and have spent all weekend talking about it. I will be going with my 3 DD 15, 13, and 9. The 15 year old will be turning 16 on the last day -- 8/11. I know that we need to get on the ball with shore excursions, can I get some recommendations? So far the requests have been for snorkeling and for swimming with the dolphins.

BTW - sorry for the newbie question - but what is a FE??

So excited!!!
