I understand that the cruises are generally busy all year round but has anyone sailed in May on the Fantasy? My wife and I are on the 2nd May sailing and I'm wondering how busy it is likely to be? Crowd calanders for our post cruise stay at WDW says the parks will be 4/5 out of 10. Is May generally classed as a quieter season?

I have been on the Fantasy for 14 days but not in May but at that time of year the Fantasy is normally full with 4000 cruisers. May is not a quiet season in fact a very popular time to cruise.

The low season would be September, November, January post new year.

DCL is very good at filling the ships up.

It doesnt really matter as 4000 is not like 90,000 in the Magic Kingdom.

I would think the cruise would not be full. However, we have been on full ships and the crowds are not overwhelming. You'll have a great time!

Brilliant thanks. Glad it's a popular time to cruise, must mean that the weather is going to be good! Looking forward to the buzzing atmosphere on the ship, we're definitely not a 'quiet getaway' type of couple so we'll be joining in with all the onboard fun!

I have stayed in Florida for three weeks in June we had rain one day at the end, it was hot and sunny.

We are on the same sailing. I'm guessing the ship won't be absolutely full because we were able to book it only two months ago taking advantage of a Florida Resident Rate. In looking at the DCL site there is still availability in most categories...including the Royal Suite.

If you do a mock booking for the May 2 cruise there isn't much to choose from. When we booked 2 weeks ago I first wanted an inside room but it was gone by the time it went through and I had to get an oceanview, of which there was only one category. I expect the ship to be close to full.

EDIT: I just realized that was for the military price, there are still several categories available at full price, so maybe it won't be full :)

I was just looking also, told my husband we could upgrade to the Royal Suite for only $19K! LOL

Wow 19K!! I'll have to crack open my penny jar and change it up into dollars before I fly over!! We are in cabin 2025 - just a standard inside, but still a lot of money when you factor in flights from the UK.

We cruised in May on the Fantasy the first year it sailed. The ship was full but it didn't seem bad. Of course, the pools are packed and on sea days the decks get full, but not where it really feels too packed to move.

We'll wave to you on our way off the ship ^_^ Lol we'll be on the sailing just before you!
I don't know about the may trip, but I know ours was GTY and VGT for a long time, so not very sold out.

We are on the same sailing and are looking forward to getting away, no matter what crowd we have :-) We've been on 'full' cruises in the past and had no issue at all.

We will also be on the May 2 sailing. We have been on the Dream the last 2 years (May 11th sailing and May 12th sailing) and both sailings were completely full but I never felt crowded the 1st year and only felt crowded last year during boarding when we were sent to Enchanted Gardens for lunch but it was very temporary. I always felt it was uncrowded and never found a time where I couldn't have found a place to relax away from it all. I was walking on the top deck one night last year and might have seen 2 or 3 people.

They do manage crowds very well things like shows and Cabanas and meals work well. Pools as small and reserving of sunbeds is where you will notice it.

I do wish the cruise had more port days so that everyone else would get off the ship. ;)
I know you're saying this tongue in cheek, but I think this combination of sea and port days is a pretty good balance. We will also be sailing in January on a Southern Caribbean itinerary out of San Juan that will hit a new port every day. That's going to be a bit tiresome.

We will be on that sailing too. Last year we did the Dream on May 8th and it was a full ship but wasn't crowded. I am hoping the same will be true for the Fantasy. I noticed a week or so ago it showed all verandah and concierge rooms were sold out and now it shows some open. I wondered if DCL held rooms and released them later. Not sure what is up with that. Anyway, I am expecting the ship to have all rooms sold (but not full capacity). We will find out soon!! :cool1:

Update - Now Verandah is gone again and Oceanview is back open. Are people switching, Canceling or what this late in the game?
