Podcast 4.0 Fantasy 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise 12/8/2012

OK. There are a bunch of folks who are not booked thru DU. Is there interest in trying to organize a meet-n-greet?

Can't wait!! This is our first cruise and we are so excited (we are not part of the PCC). We will be surprising our 4 and 6 year old by showing up to port and showing them the ship. I can't wait to see those faces :cool1: I am bummed that I didn't learn about the fish extender sooner. :sad1: We would have so enjoyed it, if somebody knows of a way we can participate please let me know. Hope to see some of you on board. :beach:
That is so awesome - love it!! :cheer2: I can't imagine surprising DS for a cruise (especially now that we've done two of them this year) but that would be the ultimate! We did a surprise WDW trip April 2010 (I believe) and we actually have a surprise trip in 3 weeks! :cool1: I had minor surgery and when we booked the trip something told me to keep it a secret, just in case we had to cancel, then I found out about the surgery, just had it 10/8 so I hope to be recovered enough by then to travel and it's looking favorably now! We will go down the the Thursday after picking him up early at school - then he'll find out- and then stay until Monday since it's a holiday. We'll get 3 full days in and they both have never seen the Osborne Family Lights and I can't wait to show them that! WOOHOO for surprises!!! pixiedust:

My contact at DCL is setting up a meet-n-greet for folks to get to know each other. [Mostly for folks not booked thru DU - the crew will keep us busy :goodvibes]

10 ish, Dec 9, Sea Day, location TBA

Does anyone need a hotel near MCO airport for December 7th (Friday night / Saturday AM)? The Hyatt provides for shuttle service to pick you up from the airport, and also, to return you to the airport (if you would like to utilize DCL transfers to the port).

We have reservations in place, and are looking for someone to take over the existing reservation ... $98.13 for one room, for one night ... includes ALL taxes!

Higher initial cost with less 'extras' to pay for vs. lower cost but a lot of 'extras' to pay for. 6 of one, half-dozen of the other. We've found that we end up paying about the same.
We love DCL, but their itineraries are very limited. And with DS, we can only do ones that depart from US or Canada, since his legs won't bend enough to be comfortable flying. So we usually do DCL when there is something else going on, too [like PCC] .

With regard to physical cost ... you are right. If the physical cost is going to be about the same, we find we'd rather sail on a cruise line with superior design, superior entertainment, superior accommodations (etc). Cruise-rookie friends of ours asked to be "taught" about cruising. We spent HOURS with them ... and they ultimately opted for Norwegian (they heeded our warnings to stay away from Carnival). They thought they were saving money. They did not realize paying $10 for taco's was uncommon. They did not realize paying $25 for a hamburger was uncommon. They did not realize a high school band performing FIVE TIMES (as entertainment) during the 7 day cruise was uncommon. They did not realize paying for a lounge chair was uncommon. They initially thought they were saving $300 on cruise fare. Afterwards, they realized they could have paid less, and received MORE on DCL.

I realize the DCL itineraries are not as prevalent as other cruise lines ... then again ... Seabourn does not have as many itineraries either. We do not judge quality by the size of a fleet, or the number of different itineraries. We've been sailing DCL since 1999 (they only had one ship, one route (3 or 4 day itinerary) at that time). We have more fun and enjoyment with higher quality.

There are a bunch of folks not signed up thru DU, so they can't do the official Podcast events. This meet-n-greet is mostly for them. Since I am organizing a few things - what's one more :lmao:.
