Fantasy 02/02/13

Hi, my name is Veronica and i am going to be 14 when my family goes on the Fantasy. If anybody else my age is going please let me know! Because it would be easier to know somebody else that is my age! My dad has put me in charge of the fish exchange. This is our first year doing the fish exchange and i was wondering if anybody could fill me in on it.
Thanks,
Veronica

Veronica,

My 14 year old daughter (and my 10 year old girl) will be on the cruise, but she's not on the site yet because she doesn't KNOW she's coming on the cruise (it's going to be a Christmas surprise). Once she knows - I'll have her email you so you can chat.

This will be her 2nd cruise and she had a BLAST the first time.

We are from Virginia - where are you from?

Thanks!

Angie

Well now that school has started again, the cruise is starting to get much closer (even tho it is still in the upper 80's here . . .LOL).

So as anyone else started considering what excursions you'd like to do? We like snorkeling. We did the tour of the ruins last time we were at Cozumel. Thought it was worth the effort with two young boys (11 & 13 then). We all like history.

So what are your plans?

Oh, and my son will be 16 yo on this trip. Any other kids that age coming?

Theresa 8-):thumbsup2

We're still looking at options. I'm really intrigued by the Salsa & Salsa, and my DW has put a premium on going to beaches.

I'm still looking at the excursions. I had wanted to do a zipline thing in Costa Maya, but it looks like it's not available any more. :confused3

We REALLY want to book a Cabana for the day at Castaway Cay, but I'm having trouble figuring out where that is on the website. I know we can't book it until Nov 4th, but I hear they book up REALLY fast and you have to sign on at midnight to make sure to get one.

Theresa - I have an (almost) 15 year old daughter (she will turn 15 the week after the cruise) coming on the cruise as well as an 11 year old girl.

Super excited. We've paid off the cruise and are just waiting to be able to book some excursions. I'm not planning on doing too much as I want to be able to take advantage of the ship in port. Truthfully, there wasn't too much that appealed. I have a DS 10 and a DS 4.... Will just have turned 5 before the cruise.

We plan on doing the secret river excursion in Cozumel, maybe some Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya, and a beach outing in Grand Cayman.

I've gotten my exam schedule and there don't seem to be any exams on 02/02 :cool1:, hope fully that means I can board the ship in PC.

Ziplines rock, Angie. We did one in Porta Varta 4 years ago and we still talk about it :) Maybe see if there is one available that isn't part of the Disney excursions. The one we did in Porta Varta wasn't a Disney excursion and we were glad we did it. They had double wires across the entire course. Better not to have a single point failure (it's the engineer in me . . .LOL). Turned out the Disney excursion was only one wire. Was glad we had researched the trip ahead of time.

Yeah! Glad DS will have someone else in the teens area (and another Virginian). Are you getting your kids out of school or do you homeschool like we do?

Counting the days . ..

So what is the Secret River Excursion . . is the Excursion a secret or is the river a secret?

My husband and I are traveling with daughter celebrating her 8th birthday and an 11 year old daughter. We plan to do a dolphin excursion in Grand Caymen, I booked a tour through The Native Choice for Mayan ruins in Costa Maya and hope to do the three reef snorkel in Cozumel. Really, really want to parasail at Castaway cay!!!

Hello All

DH (Jim) and myself (Joanne) are booked for this cruise. This is our 2nd Disney Cruise sailing the Magic in 2010 Eastern Itinerary. On that cruise we did a vow renewal for our 25th Wedding Anniversary  so I tell DH that now we are celebrating our 2nd Anniversary. I love having 2 anniversaries. :)
We are also trying to figure out Port excursions so any suggestions or recommendations would be great. We love the beaches and I think that zip lining sounds like a blast :woohoo: We loved Castaway Key and are so excited to return there:yay:

Joanne

Welcome to the group, DisneySilver! I've added you to the roll call on page 5.

Welcome Joanne! I know what you mean about Castaway Key. This will be our 6th cruise and Castaway Key is still my favorite port. It is such a lovely wrap up to a wonderful trip.

Can't wait!

Welcome! It's nice to see other couples cruising sans kiddos! Sometimes we feel like we're the only ones!

Thanks for the info on the zip line- I'm a complete zip line virgin! Didn't have a clue about the double line! We are going to look at non Disney excursions since this is our second cruise. We also hope to get a cabana at the family beach at castaway cay.

We are taking the girls out of school. They hardly ever miss school and are good students. That's one of the reasons we are telling them about the cruise at Christmas so that I can work with the teachers and get work ahead of time. My high schooler is in a special humanities program where they encourage students to have global experiences.... :) and she's in marching band and there aren't any events during the cruise! Haha.

My oldest also has slight aspergers, so when we went on our last cruise (when she was 11) we had all these things planned out and when some
Of them didn't happen, it threw her off. Yet another reason for letting her know about the trip closer to the cruise. :)

I have an 11 year old (and almost 15 year old) daughters too!! Our last cruise was when the youngest was 8 (on her birthday). We wanted to parasail at Cc last time but the weather didn't cooperate. Hoping to do it this cruise. I haven't looked at excursions too much.... I tend to get excited if I research it too much!!

Hey Shanny!! (haha)

We were planning in going without kids, but changed our minds.... :-(. They are still younger (11 and 14) and figured they grow up too fast, we can cruise ourselves when they leave home.

However, when my 14 year old starts acting like a butt during the cruise, I'll either throw her overboard or look wistfully at you adults only cruisers with severe envy!! :)

I was just talking about fish extenders to my daughters and realized that I should mention that my family has Celiac Disease. We do not need you to change anything that you have planned BUT if you are going to put anything with gluten (wheat, rye, barley, malt and oats if not certified gluten free oats) please be sure they are sealed so we do not get any crumbs in our fish extender. I was not even thinking about this but my 11 year old freaks out at the thought of gluten crumbs ;) We are used to substituting items for the kids (my 11 year old also has multiple severe food allergies) so really don't stress if you are planning on doing something with food - just wanted to ask for things to be sealed.

Can not wait to meet all of you out on the sea!!!

P.S. GSTROOP mom, my 11 year old is also one of those "this is 'plan A' and if that does not work out we go to 'plan B' kiddos" - otherwise major meltdown!

I'll make a note of that in the cruise meet thread. Thanks for the heads-up. Have you let DCL know?

We're also sailing kid-free! Mostly because we have no kids. Although I'm sure there are several volunteers who would give us "loaners">.. :rotfl:
