So has anyone called yet?? Do we know what the ID is exactly?
And its easy enough to walk down to the next counter where you have a back up reservation at another low rate. The goal of any agency is to rent the highest grade car for the highest rate but the ultimate goal is to rent out the inventory.
You might want to consider the premium rental coverage from Amex which activates for a fee of around $20 per car rental period. It covers the car, bumper to bumper for up to $50K. And that "hundreds of dollars of damage" is only to the level of your deductible. Your own car insurance covers the est. With regard to "loss of use", the car companies have to demonstrate that they are over 98% rented most of the time.
I will still have to initial that I accept the coverage, which I will decline. As I said, if that is still stipulated, I can walk down to the next counter where I will have another option.

And yet people wonder why rates are high? Multiple bookings increases the amount of rented inventory, thus increasing the costs for everyone, including the person trying to get the lowest rate. I CANNOT WAIT until rental companies start imposing cancellation policies like hotels, requiring 24 hours notice without being charged at least one rental night/day.
If you rent under false pretense, violating the contract provisions, which could be proven, rental insurance, regardless of the source will turn their back. You wreck a car using a code you're ineligible for means you have a void contract, insurance covers drivers renting with permission of the rental agency, having a voided contract would be renting without permission.
Also, expect to be blacklisted from renting EVER again from that rental agency and those connected to it (ie. Enterprise, National, Alamo are all connected).
If the rate is included, they usually require no signature to accept the coverage, I know when I rent for company business I don't have to sign anything acknowledging the insurance is included (which it is legitimately).
Do I trust a single agency to have a car available 100% of the time? No. I recall not having the SUV that I had rented available and the size they had left would not have accommodated our family and luggage. I was so glad that I could go to the next counter with my waiting reservation. I don't travel enough to impact the prices or the inventory.
I called and spoke to the agent. I told him I had a number and coupon code and booked on their site. He saw no problem with the reservation. If I wreck the car, my personal auto insurance will cover the collision damage. The most I will be out is my deductible, which would apply if I wrecked my own car. See the previous post regarding my phone call. I will happily take the car the rate I secured and quite guilt free.

I love all the people on here who just beg for codes and dont seem to have the time to get off there lazy bums and go searching on there own. Then they come back saying they dont know how to use it. I dont really care if this offended you and this is a general statement not attacking anyone. Do your own research people!!!!!!!! Wedcot Out.
By any chance to you belong to the Fat Wallet car rental message board??
I for one have spent HOURS, UPON HOURSSSSS...and I'm still checking daily but if I do see a code on here someone posts of course I'm going to go try it and see if it brings my rate down. Isn't that why we're kind of here???? To share information?? I know I've shared codes/coupons on here. So you've never taken a code/coupon you've seen listed here and tried it to see if your rate is lower with it??![]()

For all the codes I have tried, both with corp IDs and coupons, it always tells you whether you will have to provide proof of ID or coupon. It will also tell you if an ID or coupon is invalid. So....if nothing flags you when using the ID code of 1, then why is it such a cardinal sin to use it?
And several people have called Alamo to question it and were told it was OK, so what is the big deal? Of course it could be some huge glitch and be pulled at anytime, so I would suggest having a backup plan. I would be curious to see if anyone was denied that code upon pickup.
Guess we'll have to wait and see?

Rainbowsmist-
IDK who wedcot is but I am on fatwallet. I have been in the transportation area for years and if you go read the reply to your post on those boards about this code you can figure out my user name.
Have a fun trip to Disney and use whatever code you wish.
I am going on a trip soon and don't need to worry about using an iffy code. I might pay a few more dollars but I know if there is any incident I will be fine.
Are you mom2boys who just called me a liar and made me out to be someone I am definitely not???
And thanks..me and my reservation through Budget will have a grand time.
I will be nice in Disboard terms. You took the credit for finding this fantastic code on fatwallet. You claim YOUR friend found this code when you are NOT the original poster of this thread. I called you out on that. I did make an error in not seeing the time you posting asking about the code on those boards. But you sure made it seem like your friend found this fantastic code. I will apologize for not noting the time you posted compared to the time you posted your info on calling Alamo on these boards BUT I will say you were very misleading on FW with claiming YOUR FRIEND found this code.
Pot calling the kettle black on name calling....I guess I am 'rude' as you claim on FW.
BTW me and my Budget reservation using Costco code will have a fun time too! Hope you didn't use the travelocity one there is thread on here about being iffy.
Did you mention using Contract ID 1?I just got off of the phone with Alamo. Feeling that I have nothing to lose, I told the rep that I booked on line, used a coupon code that I had, and whenthe price came up with all of the free stuff, and and "contract ID X" is there any group that I need to belong to or any ID I need to show. He told me that if I was able to book it, they will honor it and there is no ID that needs to be shown at the counter. He asked me if I am a travel agent. I said no. He asked if the coupon was an airline coupon. I said I didn't know. He pulled up some info and saw no problem with the res and congratulated me.
Call center agents do not always have all the answers or convey the correct answers. You as an individual, will not effect inventory, but it is naive to think you are the only one who plays this game, and yes, it will, in aggregate impact inventory.
As for your own insurance, if you damage the car and the car rental company finds out that you are ineligible, they will note the record, the same record that your insurance company will pull, the same one that will indicate that the contract was rented with invalid information. Insurance companies want to reduce their losses as much as possible, and if there is clear contract violation, they will not pay the claim.
In the end, it comes down to ethics. Is it ethically correct to use something you are ineligible for?
