Okay, we have never done the Fantasmic dining plan or anything. We normally show up 1 hour-45 minutes before the show, get a seat and eat something/people watch.

Can we still do this? Reading different threads it sounds like you almost HAVE to use a FP!!

we have done it without dining package. we dont like to sit too close because in a windy day you can get a little wet. we had done fantasmic twice. we dont make the line. we wait for everyone to go in and we just walk in and find a place to sit. i think that there is no bad place to sit. the show is amazing and you have a great view from different places.

This is how they now load the amphitheater. If you choose not to use Fp+ or a Dining Package, plan on arriving 45-60 minutes before Fant to get seats in the Standby Area:

- Fp+ enter on the left side of the pathway and sit in the Fp+ area - all sections to the left of dining are filled one by one with CMs overseeing this process.

- Standby guests enter on the right side of the pathway and veer to the right entrance. Each section to the right of Dining is filled one by one until the complete standby area is filled.

- Once standby is filled, all waiting standby guests are held in the entrance pathway until 5 minutes before showtime. At that time, they are allowed to fill in the Fp+ area.

So if I am reading this correctly, it's the same as before, only with less "standby" seating available. My one clarification question is, if we arrive 45-60 minutes before F, we can go right in and sit in the standby area, correct? We don't need to wait for anything do we?

There is a 9:00 and 10:30 on the day I go. Do they offer Fastpass for the 10:30? Will I need FP for the 10:30?

Correct, less Standby. Of the 10 sections, 2 are for Dining and 4 for Fp+ leaving 4 for Standby.

Gates open for Dining, Fp+, and Standby one hour before Fant. You will only wait if you are too late to obtain seats in the Standby area.

They do offer Fp but you may not need it. Depends on time of year and crowds. I've gone on nights when there were three Fants and Standing Room Only for the first two shows of the night.

Thanks! I'll be at DHS on the 24th of May. I guess I'll have to play it by year and see how big the crowds are. There is a Star Wars Fireworks at 9:45 so maybe everyone will clear out after that.

Many people on the SWW thread are planning on fireworks > Fant. If you are able to get a 4th, 5th, etc. Fp, you may want to try for Fant. Or, stand somewhere with a good view of the fireworks and easy exit to the Fant route.

Thanks for the heads up! We will be able to get more FPs.. our first three are for the morning. If they are gone, I'll plan to line up for Fan when the first one starts... I don't care about seeing SW fireworks.

Never waste a Fastpass on Fantasmic. Go on a night that has two performances and go to the 2nd show.

The line starts building for the early show one and a half hours or more in advance. This is prime ride time at the studios as the lines for the attractions get really short. Multiple re-rides, even on a Midway Mania, are the norm.

After the park closes at 10, get some snacks and drinks and stroll into the amphitheater with about 10 minutes to spare. The place will be about half full on most nights.

Enjoy the show.

Unfortunately this doesn't necessarily work for people with smaller children or those who go during times when there is only 1 fantasmic.

We had dinner package seats a week ago, and Fantasmic got rained out. Went back last night and did stand by. Arrived about 75 minutes before show and the seats were just as good as the dining package seats. There were still people coming in just before the show, and they had no problems getting seats, but they were to the outside sections. Even some empty seats at show time.
