Sounds a good idea to me.. Hope it testing or maybe rolled out when we go next month..

"Testing will take place this week (July 21-28, 2015) on assigned seating for Fantasmic. Guests will not be able to make FastPass+ reservations during the test. They will need to visit a FastPass+ kiosk on the day they want to see the show, where they will then be assigned to a seat, row or section. The test will change depending on the day. If the seat assignments are successful, this should cut guests' wait time for the show down."

Interesting. We're here just now and usually don't bother with FP+. We toddle along to catch Fantasmic and aim for the 10.30pm showing. Our experience has been that we have always got in without a problem. Hope this doesn't mean we have to visit the park earlier in the day :-(

Sounds like a great idea but imagine the queues at the FPP machines if they don't let you do this via the app. That place holds a LOT of people. So that seems to be the flaw in an otherwise good plan to me.......

Completely off topic.
Cliveywolves, are you also clivewolves on the Wolves Rumours board?

If you get chance let us know how it goes for you please ..

Went to HS this morning and asked about the Fantasmic FP at a table they had set out with 2 CMs down beside the FP machines at TTM. We were given 2 FPs for this evening's 9pm show. Seats U6 and U7 in Pocohontas. No idea where that is. Will let you know. They still had FPs left (about 11.30am) for both shows and said there would be stand by availability for both shows as well.

Thanks very much for update... :thumbsup2

Worked really well and we saw Fantasmic without queuing for the first time. The FP ticket said to appear between 8.25 and 8.45. We arrived at the park just after 8 and used our FP+ for TTM then wandered over to Fantasmic. The street was busy but everyone was moving and walking at a good pace. There were signposts and lots of CMs directing people to the correct entrance area: stand by of FP. You showed your ticket at the bottom to a CM then up near the top scanned you band/ticket and again showed your ticket. CMs were again waiting at the top of each section in the theatre and directed you to where your seat was. Benches have numbers stuck on them. Our area was right in the middle and seats 6 & 7 were over beside the Dinner Package seats. A family of 5 came and sat in seats 1 - 5 but no one appeared for the seats to our left. There was a large party seated at the other end of the row. The 2 rows in front of us were more or less empty until just after the start when a couple of families came and sat down. It was much busier farther forward and the rows behind us were also busier. CMs were still giving out FPs for the 10.30pm Show as we were walking to take our seats. Fantastic show (as always :thumbsup2)

Sounds good, we weren't planning on Fantasmic in November because of the long wait with a 2 year old but maybe this could change my mind.

From what we could see even if you didn't have a FP there didn't appear to be any wait - people were walking straight in but were directed to the longer walk round (where you usually go if you have to park a stroller) rather than going straight in to the theatre. The queue was moving and people we're walking at a brisk pace. The only other thing for stand by people was that they were directed to sit in the outer areas of the theatre rather than being allowed into the centre sections which had been set aside for Dinner Package and FP guests. I'm guessing late arrivals were allowed into the empty seats not taken in central sections but don't know that for sure.

Quick update. TT and I decided yesterday we'd go along to HS for park opening to pick up Fantasmic FPs for the 9pm show again. No table outside TTM and CM said they weren't issuing them at the weekend. Went back in this morning and picked up a couple for this evening. Pocohontas section again but this time given a colour (green) rather than a row and seat number. Benches were all marked with coloured tape. Green was from the front (not sure about the front couple of rows - think they were reserved) to the middle, behind us was white. Much busier tonight but think it was EMH.

Thanks again, it is a trial period I think it ends on 28th, so I guess they trying out different permutations etc to see what works best...
