Is it hard to get a seat without a FP+? We watched it for the first time last year, but we had received VIP seating so that's my only experience with it.

Has anyone had any luck getting same day FP+ for it?

Because the Fant amphitheater is large, FPs usually remain available late into the day/evening. It's still best to arrive 45 minutes early with a FP to get the most centrally located seating areas.

If you don't mind being off center, arrive well before the FP window closes. They do fill in open seating areas with overflow Standby guests a few minutes before showtime.

It's easy to get SDFP, however I found that if you arrive 30 minutes before showtime, it didn't matter if you had a Fastpass or not. The seating was very limited at 30 minutes out. Fastpass did nothing for us at this point other than guaranteeing a spot off to the side. Keep that in mind.

Whether your FP, dining package, or standby..if you want the best selection of seats you need to show up 45-60 min prior to showtime. You can wait until closer to the show but it does fill in fast and usually about 15 min prior to showtime dining package and FP section are filled.

We show up early and sit in the very front row. Just be careful of the wind direction
