To anyone that has done the Fantasmic dinner package, is it worth it? We will be on the dining plan. If so, which restaurant would you choose? Is the reserved seating for the show really that good? We have arrived almost 2 hrs early in the past to get a good seat for the Fantasmic show, but this year, with 2 small DD, that would seem more of an eternity than it already is.

I guess every day is diferent.

We went at Christmas time. We didnt wait in line. We walked right down found a seat without problems. It was crowded. We sat in the back stage left. I think all the seats are good seats.

I wouldnt spend the money.

Let see what others think.

DH and I booked the package last year, and I'd recommend it for your 2 small DD. My daughter was four, so anytime a longer wait could be prevented, it was worth it in my opinion. :)

We ate at Hollywood & Vine- the food was really good, and my daughter loved creating her ice cream sundae, but it is a buffet, so if you want a sit-down meal, I'd suggest Mama Melrose. We have also eaten at the Brown Derby, which is wonderful, but it will use 2 of your table service credits on the dining plan.

The seating itself was also fine. It is located on the far right, but you see everything. We also liked the fact that we were able to spread out a little instead of being packed in.

I'd book the package. If you choose Hollywood and Vine or Mama Melrose, I'd use the DDP. If you choose Brown Derby, I'd pay OOP for it. Out of those 3, I've only eaten at Brown Derby and it was excellent but not worth 2 TS credits.

We did the package at Mama Melrose in July and really liked it. Since we were on the DDP, the meal cost nothing extra, and it ended up being one of our favorites of the 8 night trip. With our three kids, waiting for 2 hours is not feasible at all.

Because we had a positive experience, we're doing the Fantasmic package again at Mama Melrose on July 10.

we arrived about an hour early and myself and kids got seats while my husband went to get us food and we ate while waiting - this way the kids were doing something while waiting and the time went rather quickly!

Great! This is what I'd like to do. Where can you get food?

not too far away in the park! you can bring in anything you want!

DBF and I did the Fantasmic! dinner and used the DDP...I thought it was definitely worth it. If we had not have done it we would have had to have eaten much earlier than we did to get the seats they have reserved-they were off to the right side a bit, but close. Now it's even better because you can order anything instead of having a restricted menu (something that DBF didn't really like:sad2: )...when we go back in August we will definitely be booking it again!

I was considering the Fantasmic ! dining package, but then I read that if for weather reasons, Fantasmic is cancelled , you've just lost your "preferred seating"....no voucher for a later show or anything. Some will say "You had to eat dinner anyway"....Yes, but I probably wouldn't choose to eat at any of the included resturants if I wasn't doing the package.

I dont know about now, but this was not true last summer (July).

I read this in Unofficial guide 2006. I need to investigate then to see if this is accurate. Was your performance cancelled and you still got a voucher for a later Fantasmic showing? Thanks !

Not for me, but a friend that I met there. It was rained out and she was allowed in the next night.

Do you have to prepay (when you make your ADR) the restaurant to do the Fantasmic package if you are on the DDP? Thanks!

When I made my ADR on November 4th for our vacation in May, I didn't have to pre-pay for the Fantasmic Package but I did have to give them a credit card to hold the reservation and was told that we needed to cancel 24 hrs before, if we didn't show, then my card would be charged. Hope that answers your question. :goodvibes

Does this mean there is no longer a set menu like mentioned in the Unofficial Guide? Just wondering, because we'll be going in November 2007.

Nope. If you are on the DDP, you get the same menu everyone else does.
