I have a 3:40 ADR at Brown Derby as part of a fantasmic package for a 6:30 fantasmic. Can I forego using the Dining Plan and just pay OOP for a couple of apps and still get the fantasmic tickets?

No, the Fantasmic package is a fixed price. Depending on where you eat, it's either a buffet (H&V) or order from the menu (appetizer, entree, dessert I think) but you pay the same price - $26.99 for H&V, $32.99 for the Mama Melrose or Brown Derby, per the most recent info on AllEars.

You can pay cash instead of using your dining credits if you want though.

We did the Fantasmic dinner package at Brown Derby on Sept 23. It was a fixed price per person that included app, entree and dessert. I think the price was $48 per adult + drinks + tax + tip. You could pay for the package and get only an app, but that would be a waste of your money. Or you could get just apps, but then you won't get the package, including the Fantasmic ticket. BTW, the food at Brown Derby was pretty good for a theme park and the restaurant was lovely, but it is a little pricey.

Wow - that price is a lot different than what I read on allears the other day, unless I was reading the price for the lunch F! package (possible I suppose - I assume the lunch price is cheaper?). We went to BD for dinner (not the package) and I didn't think it was all that great, although I know it gets lots of good reviews.

As there ar eonly a limited number of packages avail each day, they started the fixed price package a few years ago as too many were going and just ordering an app, etc to get the package seating.

The package price is a good deal for the meal you get comapred to ordering all individually.

Allears is just plain out of date, and has been for quite awhile on those prices.

A couple of weeks ago I booked Brown Derby for lunch Fantastmic for Jan. 2011 and was quoted that $48 per person price for lunch package, too...until I pointed out we were on Deluxe Dining Plan, so she corrected it to 2 TS per person.

Brown Derby never was the same price at Mama Melrose, anyway. Don't know where allears would have gotten that idea...totally different prices on the restaurants so why would package be the same? Back when Mama Melrose was $32 (which was at least 2 years ago) Brown Derby was $42 or $45 ...don't remember exact difference, but Brown Derby was at least $10 more per person. Mama Melrose has been in the $38 range for last couple of times we went (May 2010, September 2009.) I think that Hollywood & Vine price is low for the package too...seems like I was quoted $28.99 for H & V.
