Fantasmic or Hoop Dee Doo

I have a 6:15 ADR for Hoop Dee Doo, and just realized that Fantasmic (which I have never seen) will be the same night at 8:00. I would imagine that I would never finish our ADR in time to see Fantasmic, so would you cancel the ADR and go to Fantasmic, or skip Fantasmic for the ADR. I've never been to either and want to do both.

I've never done Hoop Dee Doo but I can tell both experiences are very different...

Maybe you can change your ADR or see Fantasmic another night?

If you really have to choose between both, I know I would go with Fantasmic, which is a great show and a great conclusion to a day at Hollywood Studios : fireworks, music, characters.

On the other end, if you need kind of a break from the parks during your vacation, maybe you should stay with your ADR...

Hopefully, other members on here who did both will be able to help you out on this one!

We have done both and it's a tough choice. On our last trip we did the hoop dee doo and loved it. I guess if we're me I would choose hoop dee doo. It has food.

I much prefer Hoop de doo, but they really are 2 different experiences. It is a shame to miss either one. If Fantasmic is only on that one night during your stay, try to change your ADR for HDD. And bear in mind that HDD is a dinner show based on a western frontier experience with singing, corney jokes, and an atmosphere that will appeal to young and old alike. Fantasmic is a show based on Sorcerer Mickey's nightmare where you sit outside, see laser show on water, a little action on the mountain, and the favourite disney stars go by on a boat. There is a short fireworks presentation too. Since it is outside, it can be cancelled for inclement weather. If it comes down to doing only one, a suggestion is to look at them on you tube or something similar to make your final decision.

There is no comparison. HDDR for sure.
Great all you care to eat meal, and wonderful show.
We don't bother with Fantsmic! most trips. It just isn't that good

I'd choose HDDR over Fantasmic any day, no question. Of course we happen to ABSOLUTELY LOVE Hoop de Doo and Fantasmic does just about nothing for us, so that might make me a bit biased.

We absolutely love both of these so it would depend on the likelihood of doing it on a future trip. For us, it would be much easier to go see Fantasmic on a future trip so I would keep HDDR.

But I would try to get both in (on separate nights).

Used to be the hardest reservations to get.....the show is that good and so is the food.....not to say the all you can drink of cold beer and wine!! The HDDR is the best by far, though Fantasmic is good, the queneing is a pain and being packed in LIKE sardines isn't to our liking...

Fantasmic is a great show, but I very strongly dislike having to get there so early for a seat, only to have other people practically sitting on my lap once everyone is packed in, and then exiting like I am in a herd of cattle. Ugh. It isn't a very relaxing end to the night.

Hoop Do Doo has great food, is corny and fun, and I leave feeling relaxed and happy. If the timing works for you, they also offer wagon rides right near Pioneer Hall, and you can see Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach.

Have done both, and without question I would go to HDDR! Of course I'm biased because I don't care at all for Fantasmic, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the HDDR. Putting that aside though, for an ADR that can be challenging to get, my general rule of the thumb is that the ADR trumps other plans.

I'll join the majority and say HDDR. BUT, first I'd do whatever it took to do both. Fantasmic is shown every night and sometimes twice per night. Could you try to arrange your ADRs so that you did HDDR on a night other than your DHS day?

Since my 2 are still young, and not sure if Fantasmic would be scary for them... My vote goes with Hoop. We have a ADR for hoop in the fall

I've done both multiple times, and I would go with HDDR.

As some people have already said, HDDR is less hassle from a crowd perspective. You aren't jockeying for seats, and the crush of people coming and going is far less.

I found the early seat times for F! annoying because of the wait. We bought a dinner to get early admission then twiddled our thumbs while "staking claim" to a slice of bench for quite a while before the show started. After the show exited the wave of people leaving huge.

Two very different shows, almost "old school" vs "new school".

Fantasmic was a huge disappointment and will never go again.

My kids speak good English, but it's not their first language, so they will struggle to understand language jokes. Is there enough "physical" comedy so they would enjoy HDDR? It's a little hard for me to tell from the descriptions. Thanks for any help.
