Fantasmic in May

Hello -

I was looking for some real world experience seeing Fantasmic in May. I will be in DL on May 12th (Sunday) when they are only having one showing at 9PM. Does anyone have any experience seeing Fantasmic around this time?

I read the Fantasmic sticky which stated people usually start showing up 4 hours in advance! I really don't like waiting around for hours and would like to show up more like 45 minutes - 1 hour tops. Will I still have a shot at getting a decent spot showing up this late?

Do you have the option to do a dining package? With access to a reserved section, you can definitely show up 45 minutes in advance and get decent viewing. If you rely on the free FP, you either have to invest more time or take your chances with crummy viewing (although if you're tall and it's just you, maybe you'd be ok). I have done the Hungry Bear package a number of times, and I'm always very happy with the view.

Agree with the pp. With only one day and one show, a dining package (HB is the most economical and has the most flexible menu -- you can order off the prix fixe or the regular menu for the same dining package price; BB is the nicest package and comes with a souvenir seat cushion) is your best bet for the best viewing with the least wait time. All 3 dining packages (BB, RBT, HB -- in order from $$$ to $) have very good to excellent viewing, up front by the water, centered, all seated on the ground (so no one stands, no one puts kids on shoulders). Up by the rail or even in the last row -- all 3 sections have good viewing. With a free FP, you'll have to invest a serious amount of wait time (maybe not 4 hours, but well over an hour) to guarantee a good view of the show. If you're planning on eating lunch or dinner at DL anyway, why not invest in a dining package and get a F! FP in the bargain?

The HB package is a great deal when you keep in mind that a HB FP allows you to sit right next (literally) to the BB section for a lot less money. If you get to the area early and go as front and center as you can, you'll have almost the exact same view as the BB guests. Bring a hoodie or something to fold up to sit on (the pavement can get uncomfortable after a while) and you'll be good to go!
