Fantasmic Fastpass Question

I can't find a Fantasmic superthread..so sorry if this question has been asked a ton of times.

I have never seen Fantasmic before, sadly. How is it trying to get paper fastpasses? I'm am thinking of seeing it on Saturday, but have no idea how/if people line up to get fastpasses. How fast do they run out?

The first show goes quickly because they don’t have a lot of FPs for that show and some people do go over first thing to grab them. The second show often lasts until somewhere between 11-12, depending on how crowded it is. I’ve seen them all run out by like 10:30, too, probably it goes earlier sometimes...

We always do Hungry Bear to watch it because the FP section looks crazy.

Will you be alone? If so, you can also do stand by if you miss out on a FP. As a lone adult, it isn't too difficult to find a reasonable/good/sometimes very good spot for one person, especially for the second show. Talk to CMs about where to go and where they recommend viewing. The terrace in front of CO can have good stand by viewing after the FP people have filled in, especially for just one person. If you do get a FP, try to line up early (by the Mark Twain dock). The first group of people usually get led to a small area right next to the RBT dining package area -- and they get to sit! This can be worth the extra wait time! As Skyegirl said, the HB package is good, too. If you've never seen F! before, this might be worth the splurge.

Ok. So if I go at rope drop on Saturday, and head straight to the kiosks, would I be able to get a 9pm show? Frontierland isn’t open for MM right? So it’s fair game for everyone?

I will be with people during the day, and will hopefully have the energy to stay at night alone to see Fantasmic. So since I’ll be with people, I didn’t want to deal with dining packages. I’m ok if it’s a little crazy. I’m just not normally a show person, so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it. If I end up liking it, I’ll buy a package for the future when I go with some family members.

Wanted to give an update. I did end up staying all day and saw Fantasmic! Loved it!
We got 9 pm fastpasses at rope drop. The process for the fastpasses didn't seem chaotic, but there was a lot of waiting. We starting lining up around 6:45 by the Riverboat. We waited until 8 and they let us go to the fastpass sitting area. Everything was fine, but I forgot that it gets cold now..so I was freezing!! Especially with the mist from the water.

One day I may try the dining package! The hard part was staying all the way from way rope drop. So having a dining package I could just arrive before my reservation and stay for the show that way.
