Fantasmic-do you NEED the dinner package?

My DS & I have seen this, but am taking my parents this summer. My Dad can't believe that I'm after them for our 90-day PS ressies (90 days is next week) so - REALLY don't want to make a reservation if not needed.

After that long winded explanation - do you think it's possible/probable that we'll be able to make a dinner package reservation the week we get there? I'm hoping he gets more into the spirit of things as we get closer - my Mom on the other hand is getting just as excited as I am. Maybe if I bought them a computer they could get on the DIS and become just as addicted to it as I am.

If you can (or remember), make the ressies early. It's always a crap shoot when you try to make ressies the week of your trip. You'll probably be able to get something, although it might not be the ideal time of the day for you.

If you think you want the dinner package, make the reservations early - they do run out. That said, we have seen Fantasmic several times, and never with the package, and with reasonable wait times, even during peak times. Depends on how often it's offered, and whether you go on a busy MGM day. If it's offered more than once per day, go to the second showing. Much less wait time.

I would go ahead and make the reservation , what have you got to loose. It is a 48 hr xcl so as it gets closer you could still cancel. If you are going to eat anyway its a great and convenient way to see Fantasmic. I have done the package several times at Hollywood and Vine and I am going to the Brown Derby in July on the package, I have 3 small kids and the less time on line the better. The one time I did not do the package we were in the back, standing room only.
