Fantasmic dinner plan...

Is the Fantasmic dinner plan worth it? Me and my fiance are going to disney world for our honeymoon in march of next year and were wondering if it's worth it to do that. and if so where is the best place to eat for it and are the seats for Fantasmic good? Thanks. Also where else would be a good place to eat in the other disney world parks? Thanks!

I haven't actually done the Fantasmic Dinner Package, but I have gone to Fantasmic. If you just plan you day around going to the theater early, maybe an hour or more before the start of the show, you can relax, eat a snack and people watch and get a great seat. That way, you are not tied down to a dinner. As for the great restaurants, Tony's in Magic Kingdom is good, of course the Castle is fun. Akershus in Epcot is different and good and the Japan Teppanyaki is great fun.

I definitely thought the Fantasmic! package was worth it. We dined at Hollywood Brown Derby which had a price fix meal which at $36.99 allowed us to order any appetizer, entree, or dessert. If you choose a seafood appetizer, beef entree, and finish with a dessert...your total without the package would be over $37 and you would still have to plan on waiting an hour for show seats. But then this whole schematic only applies if the menu at HBD appeals to you. We didn't have time to try out Mama Melrose (whose Fantasmic package food selection is limited) or Hollywood and Vine so we really have no comparison. It was our honeymoon too and we thought the ambiance at HBD was really nice and they even threw in free champagne for us to celebrate.

Off topic, you really should dine in the castle. They treated us fabulously for our honeymoon...it was the absolute perfect meal!

I feel the opposite of Shawngirl.

I think the Dinner Package is simply a way for the park to generate more money.

It's not just a dinner where you can eat however you want. You HAVE to pay a certain amount on the food to get the "package".

Then they give you a ticket and a time to show up at the gate to the ampitheatre.

The thing is..........(and mind you, we did this on the July 4, 2005 week), they have you show up at the gate so early that the "reserved" seats are not needed because by the time you get in there you have nearly every seat to choose from.

Not to mention the reserved seats are not as good as standard in many cases (they change the reserved area as needed).

When we got there and saw how early we were, we just went and sat in a different area and got a better seat.

In the end, we felt it was just a way to get people to eat in the park and spend a certain amount on the meal.

3 years ago, we did the package and dined at H&V. Price was a lot cheaper then, food was good, seats ok.

For our trip in May, we are not going to do the package. We're going to have a late lunch at Primetime, (very filling). andd go early to get a good seat.
