I searched for this info and didn't find too much, so I'm posting.... :)

1) Is the Fantasmic dinner package worth it? Does it really save you time or give you great seats?

2) Is it hard to get? (For Hollywood and Vine) I'm going to be trying for the Pirate cruise for my four boys and the Fantasmic package on the same day, so I'm wondering which to ask for first.

TIA!
Lori P. :)

Hi Lori P,

If you do a search on the restaurant board you will find many threads on this topic.

Depending on the time of year you are going, FDP could save you LOTS of time standing in line waiting to see the show. FDP seats are usually off to the side, so theoretically you can get "better" serats by waiting in line. But personally, we find the FDP seats are fine.

FDP is not that hard to get. Again, a lot depends on when you go. But check the other threads and you'll find lots of answers to your questions.

Have fun!

Bob

Only because I think that will book up quicker. We lucked out and got in to H&V on Tuesday (great food) without PS by checking at 7pm and they had no-shows. (Although I would highly recommend making PS's.) On the way in, the host asked if we were going to Fantasmic. I said we were and he said "ok, then I give you a voucher for priority seating". We walked through a "behind the scenes" area and up to the seating area and it worked out great. Another perk, you exit almost the same way and don't have to fight the throngs out the main exit!

Guess I am in the minority...
but I think package is a big waste of money

I have seen show last 4x and have not done current package..
did however do old package whereby you could pick where you wanted to eat at regular prices..(not over-inflated ones like the new package is)
each and every time had a great seat.....

and this year went to wdw in June...mgm packed that day... went to find seating for early show around 30 minutes before show and got center seats midway up...

find no reason to book package...
and trust me ... the general way out of the show is not all that bad
I have been out of the park in less than 20 minutes after each show I have ever seen.

save your money and just show up 30 minutes before the show and you will be fine

Afraid I don't know anything about the Pirate Cruise, but I would recommend getting FDP. DH and I had the package for a weeknight in April, and on a night that there were 2 showings of Fantasmic. We arrived at the theater around 8 p.m. to find the non-reserved seating PACKED - my DH was blown away! You come up a hill, and all of a sudden you see a sea of people. We were so glad we had the package! There were plenty of good seats in that section, and we definitely enjoyed the show.

We stuck around that night to do a bit of shopping, and the crowds waiting in line to get into the 11 p.m. showing really made me even more thankful we did the package!

I think there seems to be more availability for H&V, so if the Pirate Cruise is a hotter ticket, request that first, and then go for the FDP. They'll also give you a REALLY early AR time, but I've learned that if you call back between 25-30 days out of your date, they will have released later seating times.

HTH - and good luck! :wizard:

If you don't want to have to worry at all about getting there early or waiting to get in, then do the package. As others have said, how easy it is to get in without it depends on when you go, but we like to use the package because it takes away any need to even think about getting there early and waiting.
