Fantasmic dinner package seating

We did the Fantasmic dinner package back in July of 1999. Enjoyed the show, but to be honest felt like the package was not that beneficial. At that time we had to get there awfully early and the sections set aside were off to the side, not what I would consider prime spots. We felt like we would have had similar seats if we had come in with the general public at the same time.

I am thinking that surely they have improved the situation. If you do the package now what time do you have to arrive to get in the reserved section and how good/bad are those seats?

Well...I don't know that I can offer any advice since we haven't done that package since 2001, but I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. People were standing in line for it while we were sitting down having our package dinner. I remember being way on the side, but having never had different seats I didn't realize that there was a better view. I was just so darn happy to be sitting down. Ignorance is bliss.

We did the Fantasmic dinner package this past Saturday night, and it was worth it in our opinion. We had dinner at Hollywood & Vine, which was OK but not the best buffet we had during our stay. The big selling point, though, was that we didn't have to go to our seats until 8:30 pm (show started at 9 pm). There was a large section roped off for dinner package guests and we easily found a seat there at 8:30. At that point, all but 2 sections of the stadium was filled to capacity with people who had to have been sitting in their seats for 1- 1 /2 hours. The reserved section was not completely full, and nobody had to keep scrunching toward the middle, so we had plenty of room all around us. The view was fine - the section was the second to last on the right when facing the lake. I had no trouble getting reservations for the dinner package about 1 month before we left, and would recommend it simply for the lack of time spent waiting on a stadium bench!

That sounds completely different - more like what it should have been previously. No, the dinner was okay, but the problem was that we had to get there AT LEAST 90 minutes early. Yes, there was a line, but at that point we could have gotten similar views without the dinner package.

My son, now eight, doesn't remember it from '99 and I would like to do it again. If we only have to get there 30 minutes ahead of time for a good seat, then we will go for it.

Hello --

On wdwig.com, it mentions that the Fantasmic Dinner Package reservations are not being taken for dates after 7/31; however, most of the guides that I read don't mention this fact. Has anyone been able to make reservations for August or later?

Thanks!

I tried to book one for August, but as of now you cannot book one after July 31st! Hope this changes!

I have one booked for Aug 4th, they just said it had to be no earlier than 60 days in advance.

Couple of questions - If there is time between eatting dinner and when the show starts do you really need to get there so early for your seats? It they are reserved is it necessary? Do you go to a different line or just walk up to the front? I hear it can be hot with the sun beating down on you while it is setting.

If you book the Fantasmic dinner package you are given a ticket and go to a separate entrance. They tell you to get there 30 minutes before the show time. We had time between our dinner and the time we had to be at the show, so we just enjoyed doing other things at MGM until 30 minutes before show time.

If there was a second show would you do the dinner package? WE ARE GOING IN JULY AND NOTICED THERE WAS A LATER SHOW ON THE NIGHT WE WERE PLANNING TO GO.

I would still do it. As the poster above explained, it doesn't matter if you have time between dinner and the show. You just take your ticket they give you at dinner and go to the special entrance half an hour before the show. The advantage for us was not the dinner, but the reserved seating you don't have to wait so long in. You do have to be there at least a half hour before showtime, but there really isn't any advantage to being there earlier than that....
