I am going to MGM on December 11th. In the AM we are doing the Play and Dine H&V with the kids. Right now, we have the FDP with Mama Melrose booked. I am debating cancelling it but I am a little worried.

Reasons I want it:

1) I will be bringing a 2 and 4 year old and I'd rather not wait around for a long time with kids.

2) It is an EMH evening at MGM and I am concerned that Fantasmic will be particularly crowded that night so I'd have to wait for awhile if I didn't get the FDP. We can't change the day we are going so this is probably our one chance to see Fantasmic.

Reasons I don't:

1) None of the FDP restaurants are my favorite. I have already eaten at the Brown Derby and MM and I will be eating at H&V in the AM.

2) The only ressie I could get was for 4pm which is really early to eat.

3) The cost is a lot considering that we are not big eaters. If we didn't purchase the FDP there is no way we would order all that food. We are more into getting seperate appies, sharing a main course and sharing a dessert.

What would you do, cancel or keep the FDP? If I cancel I will likely try to book 50's Primetime cafe.

December 11th is still considered value season, and I have gone over thanksgiving, in January and in February and one October. The ONLY time we ever got the FDP was on Thanksgiving Day a few years ago. You know what, we got there, sat in our "reserved seating" off to the side and There were still LOTS of seats available when we got there. We didnt need the FDP.. but we did do the Hollywood and Vine dinner and it was the same price whether or not you did the FDP. We have never done another one. We have never NOT gotten into Fantasmic, and most times we got with 30 minutes or less until show time. WIth it being a EMH night, it may be a little more crowded in there. IM thinking maybe MOST people coming to mgm for EMH would be trying to see Osbourne lights and doing TOT and RNRC and NOT there for Fantasmic. Is an hour too long to wait for your kids? We always get ice cream before fantasmic. So once you get up there and get your seats (if you have a rented stroller, you must take EVERYTHING out of it when you get to the top of the hill.. so be prepared for that) the kids will be occupied with ice cream for awhile.. thats when I bust out the light up toys. I have a ton of them, so I bring them from home. You can always have one person sit at your seats and the other walk around at the top. There is a concession stand, and people walking around selling popcorn, popsicles, etc. Like I said.. after ice cream, and something else to keep them occupied for awhile, the wait should be too bad for them!

Not sure about Dec, but we just got back and we did the H&V Fanstamic Dinner and it worked out great for us.

The place was packed and there were people standing out waiting to get in to Fantasmic and we have to sit there and wait maybe 30 minutes tops!!!

During our visit they added a second Fanstamic for Evening Magic Hours too that I had not seen listed anywhere. Is that a normal occurance? They did the normal one at 830 pm and a second at 10pm.

we went in July and cancelled ADR w-e ate at Sci Fi at 7 and went to fantasmic at 8:15 - 45 minutes was not a bad wait- they do the wave etc there are snacks drinks to buy- we did hop up right before the end and scooted out before the crowds got bad!!
