Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

I've done the FDP several times and have never experienced it the way just described. I've arrived I think 30 - 45 mins before the show, gone straight to the special section for DP holders and found a good seat without any problem - and this was during busy periods. At the end of the show and if you're not in a hurry :rotfl: then just take your time and it's ok (but busy!!)

So don't be scared off by Vascubaguy's comments. If you're prepared for the crowds (as we all are at these times) then I don't foresee a problem.

Enjoy.

Oh, sorry... didn't mean to make it sound that bad. It's a great show and you gotta see it! And all of the special sections seats are pretty good, BUT if you want the really really good seats in the special section, you'll still have to get there about 30-40 minutes early. Those really long lines a couple 1-2 hours is for general seating (and I'm not positive, but I think they do start seating 1 hour in advance)

I just received my dde cards today, and since I actually read everything i lay my hands on, I read the paper back to front.

Its states on this that "this discount cannot be used in combination with any other discount or package offers such as fantasmic, Food & Wine and Candlelight."

I'm still gonna give it the old college try  , but it is here in black and white. :guilty:

This has probably already been answered but i just cannot read all the pages of this post. If you cancel 48 hours in advance do you pay any penalty?

THANKS

I just received my card also and found that paragraph on the accompanying letter. You would have thought that Disney would have had the common sense to include that little paragraph with the confirmation letter they sent that you use until the actual card is sent out since the letter is a substitute for the card. I mean really, why didn't they send the restrictions with the letter knowing that some people would use the letter before they received the card.:confused3 That was one of the purposes of the letter! It certainly included where you could use it and the HBD was one of those restaurants. Disney would have saved a lot of confusion if they had included the restrictions with the locations it could be used.

I used it on our FDP when we were there. Didn't know I wasn't suppose to. Too Much Information I guess and my brain was on overload.

Isn't DDE different from the Disney Dining Plan? I'm sooo confused! I, too, haven't read every page of this thread, but I know there's been debate about the FDP being included on the Dining Plan. Is it the DDE or the Disney Dining Plan that these posts are referred to as being excluded from the Fantasmic DP? (Please forgive me if I'm asking a question that has already been dealt with!) :earsboy:

Yes, it is. And both cannot be used for the FDP. DDE is a discount card available to AP holders and Florida residents. They get 20% off their meals and free parking.

Yes, the DDE (Disney Dining Experience card) is different from the MYW with Dining plan. DDE is only for Florida residents and annual passholders. According to the documentation, you can't use the Fantasmic package with either. I believe this post refers to both, not one in particular although I believe the latest ones are referring specifically to the DDE card.

I don't believe you can "book" the Fantasmic package using the card. They wouldn't let me with the MYW w Dining plan; however, the server at the Brown Derby gave me the voucher for the show anyway.

When was this, and Did you ask for it or did he just give it too you ????????

the real question to that is "did you get the dicount with the voucher?"
I booked my ps for the fantasmic dinner and the cm, who did the booking, did ask if I had the myw dinner plan, but when I told i had the DDE he never said anything else about it. I just booked the dinner, and I'll find out what happens when I get there. Either way for me I get to save.... with the package I'll save time... DH hates to wait on line for anything... so I will also be saving my sanity. :cool1:

I don't remember exactly when I made the PS, but I asked when I called to make the PS and they said I couldn't book the package and use the MYW w/ dining plan. So I just made a regular dinner PS for Brown Derby. This was for my recent trip this past May/June, actually ate at the Derby on June 4th.

I didn't mentioned anything to the waiter about getting the voucher, he just came out at the end of the meal and asked if we had seen the Fantasmic show and we told him that some of us had, others hadn't. So, he asked if we were planning to see it that night and we said that we had thought about it, depending on the line. He then pulled out a voucher, already filled out for 8 people, and told us to skip the line and head to the reserved seating section. :teeth: It was a very nice end to the trip (that was our last night at WDW).

To answer the other question, no we didn't get any "discount", but we were on the plan not the DDE card.

I guess I am lost. I went to Fantasmic without a special ticket and had wonderful seats. We arrived to our seats about 1 hour before the show and had no problems getting a seat for a family of 5. We walked right in and sat down. Maybe it was the time of year we went (Feb)? And it was just 2004 so not that long ago.

I tried to skim through 57 pages of Fantasmic info. I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered previously. If we make reservations for the Fantasmic Dinner Package at the Hollywood Brown Derby, will we be able to order off the regular menu?

Thanks.

Absolutely, we do this on every trip and have never had a special menu.

To go along with the comment from vascubaguy, we ate at the HBD last February using the old meal plan vouchers. At the end of our dinner, our waiter (Brian) also brought out a Fantasmic pass for our group of 4. We were quite surprised and pleased. :worship: Needless to say, his tip was a bit bigger as well.

I imagine this is something that CM's may be able to do when they have surplus passes (maybe it was a slower booking night for FDP?) and they know there will be empty seats in that area. However, this being said, I have never heard of anyone being given passes from restaurants OTHER than HBD!

Having eaten at all 3 FDP restaurants, we feel HBD has the best food hands down. We enjoy the other 2, but really like the ambiance of HBD - but then we are in our 50's and travel without children! :teeth:

 My dd's loved the pasta's on Mamma Melrose's regular menu and we would like to do the FDP next time but we are unsure of the FDP menu. Has anyone eaten there lately? Do you remember if the menu was limited? Thanks for any info! :flower:

My DD is 11 - will she now be automatically be charged adult price? She won't eat anything from the regular menu - will only eat the cheeseburger on the kids menu (without the cheese!). If so, looks like I'll be cancelling.

I agree! I wonder what entrees you could choose from at Mama Melroses. We enjoy eating there, but would not want to be told what we could eat. The "reserved" spot at Fantasmic was not that special that you should be told what, when, and how much to eat IMO.

We just ate there this past week and had the package. The price was only $28.00 plus. We were offered a choice of two of the flat bread pizzas, they only offered one salad and it was served family style. For the entree, they offered the same as the regular menu. I ordered the veal and it was delicious. Our desert came from the same menu and also very good. We had 7 people at our table and all thought they meal was fantastic. Our server was great and very helpful. I have to say with what I ate, the package price was cheaper, but we wouldn't have ordered all that food if we had to pay for it ala carte. As far as the seats for the package, I know they were nothing special, but it sure beat waiting in that line.
