Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

Now I understand what everyone is talking about. I made a PS for the Fantasmic! Dinner pkg. for 8/16 and all they had was 4:00. I also have a PS that for Sci-Fi Dine In at 12:00. I'm going to leave everything as is for now and hope that some later times open up. If not, I'm going to have to cancel Sci-Fi and maybe go on another day since my boys were so excited about it.

Wait until the beginning of July, and keep trying every week until something opens up at a later time. Don't forget to cancel your earlier rezzie if and when you do get a later time. Even if you can't get a later time, don't cancel your Sci-Fi time since you will probably only get sandwiches anyhow. The portions are not overly large.

One tip for your 4:00 p.m. if you have to take it - get there at 4:00 so you probably won't get in for 20-30 minutes, then hold off eating for another 15-20 minutes (order drinks & chat awhile). That way you won't start eating until almost 5:00 p.m.

If you've never been to the Sci-Fi, make sure you get the milk shakes, they're the best thing there. Don't worry about the old movies. They're not scary, but they are campy.

Good luck and have a great time at WDW!

Thanks so much for the encouragment Whopper65. I'll call back in a few weeks just as you suggested.:D That's a great idea about getting there at 4:00, I hadn't thought of that!

Since this is your first time at WDW:

1. If you don't already have Sehlinger's Unofficial Guide to Disney, get one and read it thoroughly. Make notes, and follow the touring guidelines. They really work! Use the fast pass!

2. If you have young children, do not, I repeat, do not go to the Magic Kingdom first. Go there last. That way, your youngsters will not be bored by EPCOT. Go there first.

3. Hats with brims, sunscreen, and lightweight rainwear are necessities.

4. Go early, leave the park right before/after lunch and take naps and/or swim, then go back late afternoon or early evening. You'll be glad you did.

5. Form a plan before you go to any of the parks, but be flexible.

6. And by all means - have lots of fun & take plenty of pics!

This 'may' be good advice for a first timer but that is very difficult once your children have experienced MK!!!

We always go to MK first because it is my DDs favorite and you just don't feel like your at WDW until you walk down Main Street and see the Castle!!

WE start and end our trips to Disney World with MK!::yes::

Thanks so much for the tips! I pretty much finalized our itinerary last Saturday (at least I think) and had planned it pretty much the way you've described, breaks in the afternoon, etc. Our first day we're going to Epcot. I know better than to go to the Magic Kingdom on a Saturday after what I've read on these boards!:D My boys are 9, 11 and 14 and have been to Disneyland, so they won't mind waiting a couple of days to hit MK. We're just so excited to be going on our first trip, we don't care which park we go to first. Also, since we're on the West coast, I was a little concerned about the time difference, so we're only doing two EMH days, one at AK and one at MK. The other days we're avoiding the EMH parks.

I have a subscription to TGM and have learned a few secrets there as well, but I was leaning toward picking up the UG as well. One can never get too many tips.:D

Sounds like you're well prepared.

Just one more thing. Unlike CAL, FL is very humid and hot, with a scheduled shower/thunderstorm every day in August, sometime in the early to late afternoon.

Have fun!

We will be going to WDW June 12-18. I have been trying to make FDP reservations for several months. At first I was offered 4:00-4:30. Too Early for my taste! For the last month I was told there was nothing available. Just got off the phone with CM and have a 6:10 FDP PS for Sunday June 13. I was offered just about anytime I wanted. Plan to catch the parade at 5:30 and sit down for dinner as soon as its over. Should work out well as my 4 & 7 year old boys don't care much for lines or sitting still waiting for a show to start. They are, however, very excited to see the show.

ONLY 22 DAYS TO WAIT!!

I just tried to book it for August 23 and was only given 4:00, 4:10 and 4:20p....which are all too early and I know that Fantasmic will probably be 8:30p then.

I'm really hoping for a later time as it gets closer. I guess I'll call back when August hours come out or maybe some time in July to see if later times are available.

As a precaution for a worst case scenario, you might want to make rezzies for an earlier time, that way you will have it in case the later times are not available. Murphy's Law!

Oh I did! Just in case! I'm just hoping a later time will come out in the future!

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you:rolleyes:

Got 4:20pm for August 5th, hoping for a later time, since I have lunch scheduled at Sci-Fi for 12:20!!

I'm going to keep trying for a later dinner time. If I get one, I'll give you a shout and let you know....

Hey, thanks! I'll be doing the same and I'll let you know if I get a later time too!

I did read the post about 5 posts back that she had luck going from 4:00 to 6:10 and she's going in June so maybe it will happen about a month before our trips??

Thanks again!

Same thing with out June visit. I could only get 4:30 and for many days it was sold out and then I called about 30 days out and there were lots of times and I made a 6:10 ps. It was a while after the June hours were out so don't give up.

Me too! I went from a 4:30 to a 5:50 a few weeks ago. We leave in 2 weeks.:sunny:

To all of you who have had luck getting the later time: have you made the new reservation then cancelled the early one - or is it easier to just change the existing ressie? Thanks! Going July 12 so I'll be calling them in a few weeks to see if we can get a better time than 4:20!

I made the new ps and then cancelled the first one. I didn't try to change it. I'm not sure they will let you do that. Whenever I have to change the time or the number in the party, they made me start all over again.

When the CM told me that there was a later time, I told him I wanted to cancel my early one and change for the later. He cancelled my old one and then made the new one giving me a new confirmation number.

By the way, there were several later times that I could choose from.

Thanks for the quick replies! If I cancel the early ressie, do they give me a "cancellation #" since they took my Credit Card # to hold the ressie and would charge it for "no show"? Just don't want things to get out of hand or get too complicated!! Thanks! :)
