Well we booked a FDP at Mama's and I am really starting to wonder if I made the right decision. It seems all I have read lately is negative reviews about the limited menu for the Fantasmic package. I was hoping to get some more opinions, good or bad.

Just to let you know a little about us, we don't live in an area that has a lot of Italian food. We are the type that thinks Olive Garden is really good Italian :rotfl2: . So do you think Mama's will be OK for us?

Just another quick questions, were ALL entrees that are on the regular menu offered for the package?

All I can say is I had the penne pasta with sausage and it was way better than Olive Garden, so I think you'll like it. I can't remember if they were all on there or not, but I think they were??

Mama Melrose is one of our favorite WDW restaurants, FDP or not.

You do get your choice of any entree off the regular menu. I love the penne alla vodka.

Mama Melrose is great for adults. Service is excellent. Food is great, but slightly untypical.

Children who are fussy and expect Ragu will not enjoy it. It is really not very kid friendly.

With the FDP you will eat a LOT of food. Go there hungry.

This is from allears.net
Your choice of one wood-fired flatbread to share from Mama's rustic on-stage kitchen, as well as family style salad, and choice of entree. Dessert: Mama's signature Fantasmic! Tiramisu. Adult beverages NOT included. Child's meal includes beverage.

We have enjoyed the food when we've eaten there. Last year we were allowed to chose a different dessert than the Tiramisu, but that was the first time we were give the choice. I'm not sure if that was a fluke or if the dessert offering has been changed.

I disagree with this. My kids are the pickiest I know and they love it here. They are more than happy witht flat breads and pasta with butter and grated cheese.

I do agree with "go hungry" though. ;) You do get tons and its all so good you want it all. :thumbsup2

I called about the Tiramisu since DH and I both detest coffee or coffee flavored things. The person I spoke with said that they would be able to offer us a different dessert item in that case.

We ate there in December on the fantasmic package. The waitress could tell my husband was not thrilled with his choices and she told him his could order off their regular menu if he wanted. I dont know if us being on the dining plan had anything to do with it. She also let the kids order virgin strawberry daquiris as their drinks. :goodvibes

We have eaten there about three times when HBD wasn't available for FDP. MMR is not one of our favorites. I would say the food is marginal at best. Our 5 year old DS does not like pizza or mac-n-cheese (would you believe) so it was hard for him to have a choice. My wife is lactose intolerant so she was able to call ahead and get a fruit plate for dessert instead of the tarimesu. There is some flexibility, but frankly, we didn't like it enough to go there unless HBD or H&V didn't have an availability for FDP.

We did the FDP at MM in December as well and I thought it was fantastic. Our family of five got to choose 2 different flatbreads and there had to be at least 8 different entree options. I, too, had the Penne ala vodka and thought it was amazing. I don't remember being limited to only the tiramisu for dessert. I thought I had some sort of chocolate cake and my DH had cheesecake? I could be wrong about the desserts. My DSs (8,6,3) all loved their food and I think they had ice cream sundaes for dessert. Definately worth it.

I didn't think it was a limited menu...it's just your appitizer and dessert that was limited. And half the time they sub dessert for you. I had the BEST veal osso bucco here.

I'm thinking about doing the Fantasmic package at MM for the first time! How much do the packages run? If you've done one before, do you feel like it was worth it? I've read some posts that say the seating for Fantasmic aren't really that great. :confused3 Any info would be appreciated! :sunny:

We did the package on our last trip and are doing it again on our upcoming trip. The food is fine and plentiful. The children liked the pizza very much. We like MM because we hate Sci Fi and '50s Prime Time Cafe.

The reserved seating for Fantasmic is fine. It is off to the side, but you see everything. I'd rather be off to the side than have to sit for an hour before the show starts.

The first time I ever ate at MM was the first trip I took with DH. We did the FDP, and we loved it. It was one of our favorite dining experiences, in part because of the wonderful server we had. We have been back 3 more times (once with a different server) and each time has been great. We don't do the FDP anymore, mainly because we didn't enjoy Fantasmic. Is it the most authentic Italian cuisine ever? No, but it isn't the Olive Garden either which you can't pay me to go to. The flatbread is great. One year we each got our own flatbread appetizer and then split an entree, so we'd have room for dessert. Last year we took my DS & DBIL, who are quite picky and they enjoyed it too.

Have fun. :)
