I booked a reservation at H & V for the Fantasmic package, but after reading all the reviews here, I am thinking I should cancel. If I don't do the dining package, will I have to wait around for hours to get into fantasmic? I am planning to go to DHS on 10/27.

Also, I know reservations are frequently cancelled. If there is a reservation you want & it is not available, how often do you call back to check for an opening? Once a day, several times per day???

I hate making ADR's because I hate planning my whole day around a reservation. We go at slower times of year so that we don't have to plan & plan & plan some more. If my kids wake up on Thursday & want to go to AK...cool we go, if they just want to take it easy & hang by the pool, that is cool too! (to a point) Nobody is happy being dragged around from place to place all the time.

Of course now, my youngest is looking at all the pictures of her big sis with all the princesses from the princess lunch we ate last trip, and she wants to have lunch with them too.......I know I am not going to get a princess reservation this late in the game :sad2: But I didn't plan one sooner because I felt we had BTDT!

So, If I try to change some of my ressies, how often should I call looking for an opening? and, will I regret canceling the H&V fantasmic deal??

Thanks

We have been the people who wander into Fantasmic 20 min. before showtime. IMO there really isn't a bad seat, but you won't be up front to get a close-up view. If you don't mind that, take a chance. You can see everything, even from the back and will still enjoy the show. A bonus to sitting in the back is that you can exit somewhat before the masses.

You sound easy-going and say you are going when the park is slow so you may want to try "winging it".;)

BTW we have done H & V three times at lunch and have liked it... We like the salads, entrees and dessert choices BUT it is set up like a cafeteria (read crowded and noisy) and the waitstaff always seems harried.

ALSO, don't give up on the princess meals. You may not get CRT but maybe Princess Storybook dinner in Norway or 1900 dinner. We made our adr's late, during free dining, and got everything we wanted at times we liked. We just called back every couple of days and checked. Good luck and have a nice trip.

I only booked our package the end of August and we leave 10/14. I usually call once or twice a day to check on dining. I have really been able to get some great places and times by doing this. I say keep trying and GOOD LUCK!
