How much is the preferred seating for fantasmic/desert package? There is 2 adults and one child (7). Is it worth it?? Is the seating that good? Thanks

I think it's currently $60 for adults and $50 for kids 3+. The seating is good, but it's the same as if you arrived super early and waited it out, but the bonus of a chair and not really waiting. You get the massive dessert box, which is delicious and if you're first show, you also get a great spot to watch fireworks. Worth it depends on how you like to spend your money. I've done it twice and thought it was worth it, definitely will do it again. If you're going the budget route, you might be able to think of better ways to spend you're money.

Besides HydroGuy's great thread, bear in mind there are no tables, just chairs. You either won't or will have a problem balancing your dessert trays on your laps and putting your drinks on the ground. Some people don't mind. We found it annoying for the price you pay.

It is not worth it for me and my family.
I like to have a seat in the front row, so that means lining up an hour and a half before they give seating assignments. I might as well grab a spot on the ground and save the $150+. In addition, my DD will not eat anything in the dessert box except maybe the cheese.
It is a nice experience, just not a time saver.

We like it. You do have to line up early for the good seats (front row) but you don't have to stay after that--you can leave and come back for the show.

I agree that balancing the dessert tray is kind of a pain.In fact, I dumped mine everywhere (I am a huge klutz). They were so nice and gave me a new one and I was much more careful. You get a TON of desserts--like a week's worth!

We did it last year. We didn't really like the desserts very much, but it is a ton. It was nice to have good seats with no waiting at all.

I'm glad we did it once to experience it, but we aren't doing it again this year, or ever. It really wasn't worth it to us.

It would be more worth it if they let you pick your seats when you make and pay for the reservation. Then you wouldn't have to wait in line.

OK, you do not have to wait in any line. If you want a front row seat you do. Otherwise you do not. We usually show up at 7:45-8PM and just get the back row.

I am trying to think of anything at Disney parks where you can reserve a specific seat for anything. And I can't think of any.

I agree it would be nice to have a way to get a front seat without waiting. But that is true for lots of things at Disney parks. Can you imagine if you could do this for other things too? And the stress it would place on those making calls at the moment reservations opened to get "their seat"?

We did the Fantasmic dessert package at DL last summer and we did wait in line to get a front row seat, when we do it again I probably won't. We liked the desserts, well I liked them all my husband like the chocolate stuff and the cheese and crackers. It is a little pricy but it is a nice experience. On another note we just did the dessert party at Walt Disney World for the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom and there they pre-assign seats which is really nice. I don't think it would be a big deal if they did it that way in DL either, it takes away the hassle of the line up for seats.

But they already do this at WDW for Wishes/Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party. They assign the tables on a first-come, first-served basis when you call. If you want the rail, you need to call right away.

Yes, making reservations at 180+10 is a bit stressful and sometimes involves waking up early or rearranging your day slightly. But I didn't mind and would 100% have preferred it to the DLR system (which I still plan to use and wait in line to get the seats I want while my DH and kids play elsewhere).

I was not aware of that. It has advantages!

WDW system sounds better to us. The DL system isn't worth it as far as we are concerned if I need to stand in a line to get the seats. Just let the seats be assigned when you book. That's not hard. If you are really that desperate to get the front seats just be on the phone as soon as you are able to book. It seems to me that the advantage, as well as a seat and dessert, is not to have to waste DL time, time you can spend doing other things in the park. :confused3

For us it's totally worth it. I will never watch Fantasmic! again without this dessert seating. The general seating is just too distracting and annoying for me just trying to maintain my own space to occupy. Everytime I have tried to watch in the general seating area, I'm constantly getting jostled and pushed. There is always at least one large family that comes late and encourages their little ones to weasel their way forward and the rest of the family tries to cram their way along. Too annoying and distracting. The rudeness distracts from the show experience for me.

While you may have to stand in line for the 'best' seats, they are all generally pretty good. The line is orderly - no pushing, no rudeness. The seats are your own for the whole show!! Nobody pushes up against you. It's so relaxing to watch from here.

We are four adults. If we get the back row, can we still see OK? If we have a chance to pick seats, but not in the front row, are there "second best" or other more desirable seats?

There are three rows of seats. See "Fantasmic! Superthread" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2671983

Yes you can see fine in the second or third row. My recommendation is it is better to be near the center of the show rather than in the first row. I got first row once at the far left and regretted that. I would rather be second or third row near the center.

We're thinking of doing this during our trip in November. My dilemma is whether to get the first or third row seats. DH is 6'7" so sitting in the front row is going to block everyone behind him, but if we're in the back row DD5 may not be able to see very well. :confused3 Suggestions/opinions would be appreciated! Thanks

The seats are just chairs. People can move them around a bit. If you are in the first row with a tall DH that happens every night I suspect. Do not worry about it.

Actually, he might block the view significantly IMO. We had a couple sit in front of us when we did the dessert seating (we were 2nd row, they were first), and one of the couple had a tall ear hat on. It would have blocked a lot of the view and there actually wasn't much wiggle room to see around. Right before the show began, her BF asked her to take it off and she did.

You don't have to sit together in the same row, though. You can sit one behind the other, sit DH behind you, or sit in the back row where you're allowed to stand if need be (i.e. for kids.) None optimal but all options.
