I'm planning fastpasses for Hollywood Studios. Since the fastpass counts as one of three for the day, I was wondering if it was worth using one of the fastpass for Fantasmic?

Has anyone used one themselves?

Thanks :)

Yes, I've used one. There is a special entrance for fast pass.

I guess it depends on what time of year you are going. High crowds would make it worth it. I went without fast pass in March 2013 and there was so much room we got very close seats in the middle area.

When we went November 9th 2013 we used fast pass. We still got excellent seats but there is so much space we didn't need them.

I would say get one if it's summer or Christmas week. Very busy days like that. If you don't get one show up 30 mins before.

Haven't used FastPass+ but have done the Dining with FastPass. The only reason we did it was we had a big party (14) and didn't want to have them all wait in line or try to meet up. Like previous poster said, it depends on time of year. Our next trip is July and there are two shows per night so second show shouldn't be a zoo.

For the first showing of Fantasmic, Fp+ holders are seated on the left side of the amphitheater. Standby is seated on the right side and you will need to find Standby seats at least 45-60 minutes before showtime. Once the Standby section is filled, all late arriving Standby guests have to wait outside the amphitheater and then are let in 5-10 minutes before showtime.

You can always use your 4th or 5th, etc. Fp+ pick for Fantasmic.

The Fantasmic arena is giant and accommodates many, many people. There is no dedicated Fastpass section, at least that I noticed. It was mostly that you had a separate entrance. I don't know if they can run out of Fastpasses for it.

I did Fantasmic as my 5th or 6th selection, I probably made it around 5 or 6 for a 9:00 (or whenever it is...) showing. This was the day before Star Wars Weekends. Park crowds were still light, but the show was packed full. If I were to do it again, I would do the same thing. Do Fantasmic as a very, very late selection and not worry if I don't get it, because there is plenty of standby room.

I don't recommend Fantasmic FP unless it is not one of your initial 3.

When you went to Fantasmic, did the Standby guests veer to the right and enter into the right side of the amphitheater? Was Dining completely blocked off to not allow Fp+ in there? DISers have reported when they were late and Standby was filled, they had to wait in the entrance plaza.

I used it back in Oct and was glad I did based on the reserved seating section for Fantasmic

Yes to your first question. Standby went down a path to the right, while Fastpass got to go directly in, bypassing a fair bit of walking. I essentially cut in line, sanctioned by Disney :-D. Dining was blocked off and there were CMs at the top of the stairs checking vouchers.

My one caveat is that I happened to be solo for that show. The rest of the group wanted to rest up that evening, so I was able to pretty efficiently maneuver to an open section of bench in what was an otherwise pretty full area. If I had been with a group, we would have probably been farther to the side of the stage.

Thanks Sevey. It sounds like they have maintained the seating arrangement that's been in place since late February, at least for the first show.

Oh ok I assumed it was still the same. Without reserved seating I would think it would be a waste then.

It is still reserved seating to the left of the Dining Package seating. Dining has the premium two center sections. Fp has all the left sections and Standby guests who arrive early enough get the seats on the right side.

When the PP went, you'll recall FP had one of the premium center sections also. That was a good deal. It also lasted about two or three months.

True. I just wanted to make sure she understood it is still reserved, just not the center sections. :)

Thanks for the info :) this will be useful for our planning this year. You are correct mesaboy, when I went it was reserved seats in the centre which we really liked. I don't think I would waste a fp selection on it if it's just to a different side.

It also is a tier 1 along with TSM and RnRC. Like a PP, I might be tempted to get one later on in the day if I was done riding but def not one of my original 3.

Planning for October 19 - if we spend the day at MK using our 3 FP+ at MK; then we hop over to HS around 4-5pm to see Fantasmic at 7:30pm (only show that night):

1. Will we be able to get a FP+ for Fantasmic that late in the day?
2. Will we even need a FP+ to guaranty a seat on a Sunday evening?
3. Can 4th FP+ selections only be made in HS park at kiosk and not by using the App?

Thanks!

1. Unlikely, especially if only one Fantasmic.
2. See #1. FP doesn't guarantee a seat anyway.
3. Kiosk only.
