I don't know if this was posted already or not. But did anyone else see the Fantasmic show Friday night? Your impressions?

Well we saw the 10:30 showing and well we liked it. Though the dragon wasn't shown, we thought that was kind of funny. The other additional floats were good, like the new crocidial and the new eels were done well. But for all the ads and build up too it. We thought it was a let down, it could have been because of the dragon.

I think we are more excited to see the Electric Light Show Parade. Of course this is our opinion, I'd just like to see what other people thought. Oh and I case you were wondering, the crowds were crazy crowded last night for both showtimes.

We were lucky enough to see the new Fantasmic at the Thursday night media event. Definitely a shame (for them) to not have the dragon running, but the eels were cute, and friends with us who hadn't ever seen it loved it , especially the boat sequences.

I can't quite recall enough about thw old one to really know what was new though - maybe someone will let us know soon.

First, its called Disney's Electrical Parade and for old timers like myself, although I'm not that old, it used to be Disneyland's Main Street Electrical Parade. Sorry but one of my pet peeves.

As for Fantasmic!, we haven't seen it but from what we are told there isn't much of a change from the old and the new one. This was pretty much an upgrade to floats and additions that they wanted to make but never had the revenue for. I know from my college friends that worked Fantasmic! when it first opened back in '92 that they always wanted a better looking dragon but had lots of engineering issues. I remember the commercials showed a more "realistic" dragon rather than the iron structure with sparkling metallic cloth hanging as the old dragon used to look like ;) But its a shame that the new one doesn't work but as far as the show, there isn't a real change or any with regards to the music. I could be wrong but I didn't notice anything different.

Does anyone know if they redid the introduction? I love the fact that it's Annette Funicello, and would be a little sad if they replaced it.

No dragon? For good? The fire is my favorite part!

It's not permanent. For this summer, Fantasmic was supposed to get a huge, new, super high-tech dragon, but recently it's been having problems working. So right now the show is running without the dragon until they can fix those kinks.

I hope they kept Annette Funicello's introduction. :goodvibes

How long is Fantasmic! ?

I see on some nights that Fantasmic! runs at 9 pm and 10:30 pm, and fireworks - Magical - are at 9:25.

Is Magical immediately after Fantasmic! ends?

Thanks.

Yes, the fireworks start immediately after Fantasmic. If you watch the 9pm Fantasmic you can just stay put and watch the fireworks from the Rivers of America.

LA Times reported (and DH at ABC confirmed) - the Dragon had issues during a trial run.

It sounds a little like the Yeti in Florida....they just didn't build it strong enough.

The good news...Unlike the Yeti.....they are fixing the neck of the Dragon.

Apparently the rumor of the head falling off after the problem with the neck.....was false.
